As a cruise port employee here is a couple of Debark luggage tips that help prevent a headache for guests as well as workers. If you are putting your bags out for hallway pickup on your last night at sea be sure to pick up your blue numbered zone tags. By using these tags your luggage will easier to locate during the mad rush to go home. Also be sure to tear off the tag receipt so you can remember your zone. Use your phone camera to take a picture of your bags in the hallway. You can use the pic to verify your bags and show the pic to luggage workers if we need to help find it. A lot of luggage looks alike and believe me a lot of it is black soft sided. Try putting an identifier, a bright ribbon, colorful tape or tie a colored cloth, to a handle on your bags. Make them look different from every other bag so they won't be easily confused by other guests trying to round up their black bags. Pack as light as you can. We see busted zippers every sailing due to overpacking and/or overweight. Even expensive bags break.
can you use a non lock like a carabiner or a snap hook? Just so the bags don't accidently come open? I thought about twist ties but that seems obnoxious. I purchased some wrist lanyards I decided not to use. I'm going to put those on the luggage! (not to carry, just for identifying.) Thanks for the tips! We are driving to the port, not flying.
@mdduet what is the advantage of leaving your luggage out in the hallway the night before leaving. I'll be cruising in April. I'll only have a 21" wheeled carryon and a backpack
@@MileHighDiva i think you are only leaving luggage out that you are not hand transporting yourself. That luggage in the hall is for the porters and they may be by at 3 AM, hence leaving it in the hall. Mind you. I don't know the actual reason. I am guessing.
@@MileHighDiva That's how most cruise lines pick up luggage that the guest doesn't want to hand carry off the ship at debark. The luggage is removed of the ship at docking and sorted for the guest to claim after leaving the ship. Self assist debark guest usually debark early.
I have stopped checking my bags. I carry on with Carnival and Royal Caribbean and have no problems. I also walk off with my bags when the cruise is over. No tips, no searching for bags, and no problems. Enjoy your next cruise!!
I found some long luggage tag holders that are perfect. Best part they have colourful tops, making them easy to find, and they come with a coated wire attachment to go on the handles of your luggage to attach the tag holder with. No way is it going to break
I purchased holders but the tape method was my original way. I have seen some holders get torn off!! Both kinds, the plastic loop kind and the metal loop kind. I think I am going back to using the tape method again. I agree.....the only way for it to come off is cutting it off.
@@doodiehutchison4463 Keep those copies with your person until you can add them to the safe in your cabin. I had copies, years ago, in a piece of checked luggage that did not find me until I was home from the cruise for 4 days. Airline routed it incorrectly. It was missing about half the items inside and all those copies. Someone had successfully used my credit card! Was able to have charges removed but just such a pain.
Amazon has plastic covers for most of the ships tags. They’re sturdy and is attached with a metal hook . I agree with the others about putting copies of your documents inside your suitcase. Great ideal about the carry on bag tag.
Even for over a 5 day cruise I recommend one piece of luggage (suggest 22” and use packing cubes) and one backpack. Unless your on your first or second cruise and still overpacking this will also allow you to self assist getting on and off.

What you are going to CARRY ON YOURSELF has to stay with you until your cabin is ready! If you board early, and cabin isn't cleaned yet, you have to lug everything with you. We use ture airline sized carry on, back pack or small carry on duffel bag as carry ons when cruising. Also, I carry on a non-surge power strip with my C-Pap machine and have never had an issue, since it is a medical device. The reason for the number of bags recommendation is storage in the cabin. Also, TSA locks on checked bags are allowed. Extra security counts. One time we had to go to security to open a bag, wife packed a small steamer that they saw on x-ray, we unlo ked the bag, TSA lock, and they held it until day of disembarking. They didn't find the alcohol we brought in the other bags. See the other Videos on the how and where to buy the items needed.

Never heard about the limitation on bags or weight limits for cruise ships, and I'm a Platinum member of Carnival. As a solo traveler, one bag (either small or large, depending on the length of the cruise) is enough for me, along with a carry-on. Recommendations about documents and medication being in your carry-on make sense, as I don know folks whose luggage has been misplaced for hours or even overnight (it was delivered to another room and the person in that stateroom didn't report it until the next morning). Royal Caribbean allows two bottles of wine per person, which was nice when six of us took a 7-night RC cruise. The one-bottle limit was fine for my four-night Carnival cruise late last year. I really appreciate the news updates and information you bring in your videos.
I was surprised to find this out as well. I think it's fairly new and frequent cruisers don't really know about the change, nor do they strictly enforce it at this time.
in your picture( promoting this video) you have the soft type luggage with an "X" through it. Is it better to bring the hard shell type luggage? I am a first time cruiser (leaving in December). Thanks

I’ve never needed a power strip on a ship as my rooms have had plenty of outlets. I have had power strips taken that I had in my luggage for use in hotels before and after the cruise. I actually try to watch videos on TH-cam of rooms I may book to see what the outlet situation is.
I have purchased non surge suppressor outlet cube on Amazon. It states on it that it is specifically for cruising. I hope they don't get confiscated. That would stink.
@@mandywalker3393 Those little cubes work. It is the strips that some crew see and they assume they are all the same, all surge protection strips. I NEVER give them a rough time when they are trying to take something from my luggage. I want on the ship, not turned away, or labeled/identified as a problem guest for being a pain at check in. They took a strip once and that was when I found out about the cube. Mine has 4 plugs, 1 in each corner, and 2 USB outlets in the center. I have used it 6 times now without any issues.
Not too comfortable not locking my luggage, I've been on over 40 cruises on many different lines and have always left the TSA locks on, never had an issue, but one of the first cruises I went on I left the bags unlocked, and some items turned up missing, and nobody took responsibility. Other than that, pretty good advice, but you still see people that packed their documents in checked luggage, and some disembarking wearing pajamas and slippers because they didn't save anything to wear.
How many carry-on bags are you allowed to bring on the ship? I would have a carry-on suitcase, a backpack, 12-pack drinks, and a purse. Is that too many?
Just remember, YOU have to lug ALL of that around ship until the cabins are opened, after the turn around cleaning. It is not just your cabin but all cabins in a section must be clean. You might want to eat something, explore the ship, check off the life boat drill, whatever and that seems like a bit much to drag around. Remember the ships are at or near full and space is shared.
do we have to check in our luggage I thought we just walk on board and go through check in and screening and go to our room sorry I am going to my cruise on Monday June 24 at Long Beach
Can you take coconut water that is like cardboard not aluminum cans? Also, I have a lot of dietary restrictions. Can I take snack foods and things like that?
When I went on my first cruise I took them in my carry on bag because I wasn’t sure , but recently watching a video: I saw someone take a case of soda…I believe you can do it either way, but maybe call carnival to be sure 🤗
I have seen individual bottles trashed. We always leave some space in our wheeled carry on, then we carry the beverages to the check in area. After we clear that area, we find a chair, open the carry on, pull the containers out of the plastic bands and put them into the carry on. Now, they are easy to haul around until the cabin has opened. This is a trick an elderly couple shared on a cruise back in 2015 with a group of about 30 guests. I actually thought he was cruise staff since so many people were around him, watching and listening to him. I saw his sweet wife of 40 years later about day 3-4, and she said they were “trapped” there as he gave the talk for about 25 minutes “again, and again”. Someone from the cruise line had a OBC added to their account. She was so excited about that! I have thought about them many times and wonder if they are well and still cruising.
Thank you so much for clarity on the amount of luggage you can bring on a 6 plus cruise I really needed to know that. I will be on the Mardi Gras cruise in July of next year 😁.
Thanks for watching and commenting! We hope you have a FABULOUS cruise! We will be covering so much on the Mardi Gras. If there is anything specifically you want us to show, let us know :)
great tips...can someone please confirm if full size shampoo, lotion, etc is allowed in our carry on...we pack light clothes wise...so no check in for us thanks:)
Yes, you can bring a garment bag and you can check that bag as well. The amount of luggage you bring is "recommended" by Carnival so you can bring and check more if needed :)
I have successfully snuck on alcohol on every cruise that I have done! We put some in each checked bag and has made it to our room every time! Lol .......Mardigras 9/18 coming up!
Question. I'm considering purchasing an insulated cooler bag for soda/wine. Would that need to be 12×12×12,or is it considered a carryon( has backpack straps and collapsible wheels) so not same restrictions? So confused! TIA
My suitcase is ... laying down as if I were opening it is 14 high but 31 wide. (But front to back is 21) But if i swivel the suitcase around .. it's still 14 in high, NOW 21 in wide and 31in front to back is that ok? Thanks
Taking on a Bottle of Wine, is that on the first day or can you take one on at every port you stop at? Hopefully on the Mardis Gras and Horizon in September, but not looking good for us here in the UK, in getting to the USA.😔
Hi Nobby. The bottle you bring on first day can be opened (Carnival will charge you a corkage fee) and the alcohol you buy at ports will be stored for you until you get off your cruise. So just 1 bottle per passsenger is all you are allowed to drink while on your cruise. I am so sorry to hear about travel in UK but I hope things turn around for you!!!
Bring your own bottle opener, and open in your room even if you pour into another cup or glass. We have never taken a bottle to main Dining Room to ask them or a room attendant to open, that's when they try to charge a cork fee. As stated above anything you buy in ports, they have you fill out a tag, and deliver to your room the last night for you to carry off with you next day.
Of course you can buy as many bottles of the ship's wine as you want at the dining table, at their prices. They are allowing you to save a little money. Since alcohol sales generate a lot of revenue, they aren't going to let you bring huge amounts on board.
thanks. I was getting worried. I thought you were going to say we had to have hard case luggage only based on your video pic. phew. happy sailing. MG 12/21
Hi Alyssa. Lol. I was trying to find a really wide and "fat" suitcase. Maybe I should go back to the drawing board on my pic! lol. Dec. will be here before you know it!!! :D

This is from Carnival's website "On embarkation day, a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, energy drinks, juice, and milk), packaged in cans or cartons, may be brought on board and must be in the guest's carry-on luggage. A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12 ounces each or less, per person. Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on board with the following exception - at the beginning of the cruise during embarkation day only, guests (21 years of age and older) may bring one 750 ml bottle of sealed/unopened wine or champagne, per person, in their carry-on luggage. Outside this exception, all liquor, beer, other forms of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited in both carry-on and checked luggage and such items will be confiscated and discarded and no compensation will be provided. Guests sailing with us on back-to-back cruises are entitled to bring the same quantity as stated in this policy, per cruise. The additional quantities will be stored for safekeeping at the start of the first cruise and will be given to the guest as each following cruise begins."

When I went on my first cruise I took them in my carry on bag because I wasn’t sure , but recently watching a video: I saw someone take a case of soda…I believe you can do it either way, but maybe call carnival to be sure 🤗
You have to carry it on
I have seen individual bottles trashed.
Hello thank you so much. Can 12oz Cans of soda be brought on board, also how many. The agent that book our cruise said we can only bring wine.
12 pack of soda in cans.
I was about to say I’ll see you there
same!! only a month away now
My 21 year old grandson and I are going on the Mardi Gras in February 2023.
I need to the luggage restrictions
Great info!! TH-cam had unsubscribed me but I fixed it!
Hello! Good to hear from you! Got to love TH-cam glitches!! lol
great tips...can someone please confirm if full size shampoo, lotion, etc is allowed in our carry on...we pack light clothes wise...so no check in for us thanks:)
IF driving to the port, you can pack all the full size items you want. YOU will walk it in and carry it off.
Can i bring a garment bag into a Carnival Cruise? Also, if yes do I have to carry with me inside or leave with the rest of the luggage?
Yes, you can bring a garment bag and you can check that bag as well. The amount of luggage you bring is "recommended" by Carnival so you can bring and check more if needed :)
Hello I what to cancel my order how/where and what do I call.
Very informative video ! May G-d bless you too !!! 🙏🏽
If we’re only going going on a 4 night cruise can we just pack a carry on bag???😊
We are going on a cruise next month with Carnival. Are these measurements still valid?
Can I bring a garment bag as a carry on???
Can my carryon have wheels or does it have to be a bag?
Hello I’m doing a B2B so can I bring soda and wine x2 and how will I receive the soda and wine for the 2nd cruise ? Thank you in advance
Is a 29 in height x in w x 10.5 in D to big? I’m sailing out this Saturday coming up?
My husband has his walker. Does he take it as a carry on or drops it at the portal?
I would keep that walker with him. The ramp onto the ship, after check in, is a bit of a walk and it might come in handy.
Are they srict on the size of your luggage.
I have successfully snuck on alcohol on every cruise that I have done! We put some in each checked bag and has made it to our room every time! Lol .......Mardigras 9/18 coming up!
😂 Please tell me how, I’m going on a cruise next month and have been watching countless videos.
How? Please let me know
Question. I'm considering purchasing an insulated cooler bag for soda/wine. Would that need to be 12×12×12,or is it considered a carryon( has backpack straps and collapsible wheels) so not same restrictions? So confused! TIA
when I get to the terminal to drop off the luggage with the porters. Should I have my luggage locked or unlocked?
Why dont they have rules on their web site if they want us to know them?
So no soft plastic luggage? It has to be the hard top?
Is it one suitcase per person or per cabin?
Last cruise we went on pre Covid. We kept our luggage
What about water bottles
Question, where do I get my bag tags before I reach the porters?
You will be able to print them off at the same time you print your boarding pass
Hi can a duffle bag/gym bag be considered a carry on or does it need to be part of checked luggage?
Yes, a duffle bag can be a carry on.
limit is just that carry-on should fit in the Xray machine at security
12 Cans Per Person……Could I Bring 12 Cans For Myself And 12 For My Husband In The Same Carryon Bag?
Yes you can :)
My suitcase is ... laying down as if I were opening it is 14 high but 31 wide. (But front to back is 21)
But if i swivel the suitcase around .. it's still 14 in high, NOW 21 in wide and 31in front to back is that ok? Thanks
Are we able to bring bottled soda? They are small 12 oz as opposed to the regular 16 oz and come in a sealed 8 pack package.
No. Cans only
Taking on a Bottle of Wine, is that on the first day or can you take one on at every port you stop at?
@@TheTravelScouts Apparently, this week is when your President decides if he will reverse Pres Trump's Order and lift the Ban.
Of course you can buy as many bottles of the ship's wine as you want at the dining table, at their prices.
They are allowing you to save a little money. Since alcohol sales generate a lot of revenue, they aren't going to let you bring huge amounts on board.
@@wendegratton1291 are you allowed to bring soft drink can/cartons on board when in ports or will they be confiscated till the end also?
The only thing that is enforced is the ID(now they let you use verify). The cooler also.
What if you don’t have a big bag??
@@TheTravelScouts I was like "what? I need a new suitcase? ". fingers crossed December sails...
@@alyssasimon3940 lol. Sorry I put you in a panic! Still looking for an extremely fat luggage set! Lol
Same EXACT thing I thought. I have 5 fabric bags purchased for our June cruise! LOL.
Can you take full size toiletry items?
Yes, since it’s not an airline it’s perfectly fine !
As long as you are not flying to the port.
IF flying out them in the checked bag, after you doubled packed in leak proof plastic bags(zip lock freezer bags work good).
Ive saw where you can put your 12 pack in your suit case but you are saying you have to carry it on. Is that correct??
This is from Carnival's website
"On embarkation day, a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, energy drinks, juice, and milk), packaged in cans or cartons, may be brought on board and must be in the guest's carry-on luggage.
Where did you get the luggage tag holder that is on your carry-on?
Amazon :)
Are these newly updated guidelines or the same luggage rules from years ago?
That is what I'm wondering
I am not sure what the guidelines were years ago. The info in this video was taken from Carnival's website.
can we bring a water pack
Are you allowed to carry on your luggage if you don't want to check it? We have a suite and our room will be ready when we get on board
First time cruiser here. I know they say not to lock your luggage but are you allowed to have luggage covers on your luggage?
