Carnival is aware of being called "the ghetto of the seas", "Walmart of the seas", etc. IMO, I think they are doing their very best to stop it with the drug-sniffing dogs, extra security, baggage requirements, etc. We just sailed on Carnival and had a wonderful time
I call it the Allegiant of the sea. A base price, then add on extras. I don’t think it is a bad idea, it is just a business model.

We brought cans of root beer on our cruise. Using the ship's ice cream we had delicious root beer floats at no cost.

Most excellent and accurate video. Locks on bags are stupid, they handle thousands of bags in a few short hours and the baggage handlers don't have the time or inclination to paw thru your underwear. If your bag is going thru x-ray and a possible prohibited item triggers a a search and the bag is locked, you might be pulled off the ship to open the bag for inspection. Bag searches are videotaped for evidence and the protection of the security officers from false claims of theft. Carnival employs highly trained K-9 dogs for narcotics interdiction. The message is clear, do not bring illegal drugs aboard. If you do there is a good chance you will not sail and will be turned over to law enforcement. Carnival is a great cruise line and they won't hesitate to eliminate potential problem cruisers. As passengers, we are the winners because the safety of Carnival cruise passengers is number one priority for the company.
I had locks on my luggage due to luggage being left in deck hallways, but it did not matter, our luggage did not get to our stateroom until nearly 4:30pm!
Dogs are wrong over half the time.
@@davestevens4193 they had 3-4 detection dogs for my 6/2 cruise. Each of those dogs alerted to one, and only one bag for the group in front of us. They definitely detected something.
Not mention that a bag that closes with a zipper is the easiest thing to open and zip back up
Just went on Carnival. Had been on hiatus because of the same reasons as everyone, too many negatives.
MAN, DID THEY MAN UP? it's a 360° change for the positive. I WOULD GO AGAIN. With all the security in place, I don't mind 1 bit, they took control back, crowd control and they're not on your neck checking your every turn, but will assist you 24/7.
I was waiting for some flaw, on a 7 day, but no? 🤔 It was great, unexpectedly. I would go again. Thanks CARNIVAL 👍🏼

My husband and I try do 2 cruises every year and the cheapest cruise line we can afford is only with Carnival in Louisiana.
We always checking in with our big luggage with casual stuff and we carry a small bag with us with all the important documents or something you can't afford to lose or being stolen. ( like my make up stuff😂)
My sons suitcase was damaged on embarkation on a Holland cruise. Holland gave me $100 OBC to cover the loss which I really appreciated and it covered the cost of replacement
I lock my luggage with TSA approved locks when flying and cruising.
We love the Jubilee. She's a beauty with a great staff .
I have a CPAP machine and i let Carnival know about it, i kept getting calls from Carnival to carry it with me (which I did), During embarkation my boarding pass was taken by an offical due to my CPAP machine and looked over by others and then later given back to me....however no one ever checked my machine!
As for drinks, my wife and I both drink those Premier Protein drinks ($29.99 for 18 of them at Costco). They are perfect, less than 12 oz. each and they are in cardboard packaging. They fit in the cabin refrigerator and they are great to have one in the morning.

Carnival Cruises starting in Europe allows you to carry on hard liquor with no limits to my knowledge. We only took a bottle of Rum and a bottle of Vodka on embarkation but restocked twice during port days.

Vista is our favorite so far. We have also cruised with the Magic [PartyTime], and Celebration [For the Inauguration. Not thrilled with the theater show location but love Emeril's], and Venezia [Nice ship but!!]. Most of the time it is with RCL.
Depending on the itinerary, we look forward to trying a few others with Carnival.
We just got off the Vista and we loved it. Definitely different than the other Carnival ships we have sailed on!
On my last Carnival cruise this past February, my luggage was delivered to my stateroom during the Safety briefing.

We bring a soft sided cooler bag empty but with carry on items for embarkation, this way we have a larger style cooler to use if needed, especially when there are not small fridges in the staterooms, though that is getting more rare these days.
We carried our luggage onto the Panorama. They ran it through X-ray and that's it. We were skipped for the detection dogs. We dropped it off by our stateroom door (As advised) until the room was ready.

Great video, if these guest would do thier research for the ship and cruise line and take responsibility for the do's and don't, they would not have problems or get mad a blame a cruise line..it is on the cruise lines web page...cruising not like a land vacation and a hotel room. What gets me most about the list of items that you cannot bring is that someone has done these things to have them make a not that it can't be done in the future.
Pretty much all of them. However, if I had to choose one. It would be the Celebration. It may change in August when go on the Firenze.😁

We just got off the carnival spirit. My suitcase was wayyyyy over 50 lbs. I over packed for sure cuz of my suits for elegant night

For shoes. I bought a pair of Black Trail Running shoes by Salomon from REI. They are comfortable, were handy on a Budapest to Bucharest river cruise when it snowed, and do not stand out. They were a problem at a bar in Montevideo when I danced Tango. Leading my partner to do an Ocho was difficult.
I didn’t know camouflage pattern clothing wasn’t allowed. Thanks for the tips.
In many places camouflage is only worn by gangs. They told this in Jamaica
Camouflage is actually illegal to wear in some ports.
I would never pack my CPAP in checked luggage. It may be sturdy, but it may need a bit more care than checked baggage.
Recently had some of the best service on a cruise ship on the Magic. We'll see if it is as good when we get back on her in September. Also liked the Conquest, but did not like the Celebration.
I remember when I heard carnival wanted my luggage unlocked, over a year ago, I thought, nope too many people handling it. And there is the addition handling if giving it first to the airport transfer.
And yes, I’ve been to the naughty room a couple of times when they couldn’t read a scan! Never had an illegal item to find.
Watch the weather, On a recent ruise from Sydney, a midday thunderstorm soaked soft sidedd luggage stacked on the dock.
I really wasn’t into the newer hard sided luggage. But I finally broke down and got some.
On my last cruise I think they went through my luggage. Things were out of place and jumbled up. At first I thought it was TSA but they usually put a notice inside your bags.
Snorkeling gear does not need to be turned in. Diving items do.
They also allow you to bring your metal detector for use while in port. And you are allowed to keep it in your stateroom
Reasonable rules. One of my favorite pastimes is looking at the prohibited items in the glass cases at the airport. Seriously I’ve seen a weed eater, a chainsaw, a homemade flamethrower! You know it’s there because someone FAAFO.

I love Carnival! This will be our third cruise in November and haven't had an issue yet! Friendly staff and inexpensive. Never had an issue with the guests, either!

I like to bring a couple pre packaged snacks for the flight home and for late nights in my room.
Carnival used to allow a small pocket knife but now all knives are banned. One time, years ago, I carried on my Leatherman multi-tool. That's when I learned tools were prohibited and there was no place at the terminal to store it. Fortunately, we were early and I caught the bus back to the parking lot. I study the prohibited items list before every cruise now.

In World Cruises in Princess and HAL took 3 per person, but don’t ask how many we brought back!
I asked about closed shoes once, on a different cruise line. They told me I would just need to sign a waiver. Now that I have a wheelchair it would be fun to figure out how that works. For what it’s worth I can’t wear them, at all.
I wish they'd adopt a policy similar to that for drones for ham radio gear. I'd love to work HF from the southern Caribbean and have already researched the license requirements for the ABC islands.

I always wear socks and sneakers on embarkation day whether I fly or not. Sandals take less space in luggage.
Worried about them opening your luggage? Never have anything expensive in your luggage. If there’s a zipper it can be opened and closed with a pen.
1. You can buy luggage with zippers that cannot be opened with a pen.
2. Leave the expensive jewelry at home.
Exactly if a pen don’t work a knife will work too.
One advantage of Cunard, is you can bring on any amount of alcohol.
I dont understand bringing food onto a ship. This is an opportunity for picky eaters to change. Theres more than enough food.
They may need particular food to get them thru hypoglycemic episodes, or dietary needs. Not "picky," which implies merely preference, rather than a need.
Fifty pounds is the same for airplanes. How do the other dimensions fit with airplane requirements.
Except for two short ballroom dance-themed cruises, my wife and I are either driving the sailboat or on Oceania or Viking.
I brought a 12-pack of rootbeer on a Miami-to-LA Oceania cruise.
With Oceania, there is always a bottle of wine and a bottle of sparkling wine in our cabin when we board.
We had a steamer confiscated by Carnival when we accidentally left it on our carry-on.

Have ever talked about the benefits of owning Carnival stock (CCL) when sailing with any Carnival cruise line?
They lost my luggage on the Breeze, when I finally got my luggage back the cruise was over and I made it home. They shipped my luggage a week later. When I finally received my luggage items were missing. This happened in May. I’m still waiting to hear back from them and yes I filed a claim before I got off the ship. The whole process has been overwhelming I guess next I need to email the news.😢

As far as the camouflage goes people need to understand that in some places that will be taken as a threat by the local government and that usually does not end well for the person wearing the camo. They also should understand that The rules regarding camouflage Also include backpacks etc.

RE: Camo - not just clothing - even underwear, handbags, etc with a camo pattern. Apparently, even nontraditional camo colors - like pink, are still considered "camo" and can lead to trouble in some ports...
Do the non-alcoholic container rules apply to distilled water for a C-Pap machine? Can I carry a gallon jug with me on embarkation?
You can order distilled water for his machine as we are doing that. I just don’t want to carry a gallon of distilled water plus all the other luggage,etc.Just call or go on the Carnival Hub app to order it.
Sadly, these items on the list, ignorant people brought them. I thought a recent complaint about not able to bring vacuum cleaner was funny.

Most of the other Cruise lines provide the distilled water for you

They have to pack their own.
1. My luggage never leaves my possession
2. TSA approved locks- US Customs has a master key
3. I DO NOT trust Port Authority-they are not permitted on the ship and WILL NEVER be the ones delivering you luggage
4. Although “PRIORITY”, when checked my luggage it never makes it to the stateroom prior to dinner- bathing suits are frowned upon in MDR
-I will never check my luggage.

If your luggage closes with a zipper a lock is pointless
Zippered bags are the easiest thing to open lock or no lock
