Great video. For the maneuverability, speed, clean-cut and price, I don't understand why we don't have more of these machines here on the many smaller NH fields.
TO That off brand bleach: If you have time, please tell me why these machines either don't last or do a good/fast job. I don't know anything about these particular machines except for this video & what I read on the IH web site. In the video they appear to work well and quickly. We have many small, uneven fields here, and operators travel many old roads from field to field to harvest hay. I thought these machines might reduce time and labor dramatically. Thanks.
Ok cutting hay can be a difficult job, depending on the equipment you have to do the job. I currently cut hay with a Kuhn 7 foot disc mower. Driven by an International 574 (55hp+/-) open station. Used to use a 9 ft IH sickle mower. So if I was given an option to stay cool in the Texas heat while reducing my field time significantly I would definitely go with the New Holland! If I’m cutting hay in large quantities I’d go with the John Deere. It’s all about points of view and what’s the next step to improving your field times! So thank you for both sides of the story!
Ok i just love all the wonderful comments that stem from my bad experience. the only difference between this machine and my narrower 240 it the engine and all the pa crap they made new holland bolt onto an otherwise very reliable engine. to those who don't like me because i point out machines good and bad points we'll thats ok i think its a good place to express your opinions.the engine will never be under stress in any conditions. its the hydraulics that are the failure.the steering also and the uncontrollable forward trusting of the whole machine that will fatigue any operator.you can witness all three major problems with this machine in this video.
onelonleyfarmer ive never ran one and even i can see the problem, i run all ford tractors and love new holland but will never by one of these in a new holland till these issues are worked out, but i totally agree
He was really having to baby it on those hills, there really wasn't anything speedy about it. Also, why was he throwing it together in that tight of a windrow, makes it hard to ted.
onelonleyfarmer from my own experience with the engine and seeing the mowed ground I can take conclusion that the mower self is great. 6,7 FPT is a great engine and the mowing quality is good also but if you want a new Holland mower take a pull type
@onelonleyfarmer I have never run a machine like that, so I cannot share any experiences on a windrower. However I have to say I can see what you mean. Especially what you pointed out regarding the lack of weight on the back is observable in this very video.. I mean the machine does look unstable under these hilly conditions. .
Watch at 8:30 and it will validate OLF's complaint. I don't know why everyone has to be such internet tough guys, I doubt any one of you would say these things directly to someone's face.
Cant see what everyone is bitching about seems like this 260 is doing a fine job with no issues. Looks like the rear end is on air suspension maybe thats why it pops up some on turns so it doesn't jerk you around etc. Think of having a round bale on the back of a tractor and then it shifts it weight quickly and how it will toss you around.
Ok so there are problems with this swather, it is a fact. Now like Wes said his was a lemon, the hydraulic issues it had started from the factory but there are problems with it. One. they raised the whole machine for more ground clearance, raising the center of gravity, easily noticed when slowing down or stopping. It needs more of a constant ride height rear suspension, just airbags don't work good enough anymore. Two. they made the Castor wheels pivot with a lot of rake angle so when reversing or turning sharp it always raises the rear end making it even more unstable feeling and the high center of gravity very noticable. Three. the new steering setup is just as sloppy as the old but oddly they raised the top speed. They really need to get the steering under control. Both drive wheels need speed sensors in order to have a computer actually run the valves correctly, so that when the wheel is straight the mower, given there's no wheel slippage, actually goes straight.
Farmer Gerry here how fast was he running the header and did he have the engine running at full RPM or was he conserving fuel to be cutting at nine mile an hour
Jeez I was expecting comments from BTP about OneLonleyFarmer but he didn't say anything. I guess the firestorm is in the comments section, after reading through the comments that appears to be the case.
+Keith Brettell it is just a video about about mowing hay in Iowa. The comments just blew up. I was not expecting all this attention for a standard machine video.
+Lucas Makk I can try. Most of time the machines are rolling to get a job done. My goal is to film the machines just as they work and to stay out of the way so as not to hold them up. If one is parked for lunch or rained out I will work on an interior shot. Is there anything in particular you are looking to see inside the cab.
who the hell is the dude that posted a video bashing olf? every one over there is scared to mention who it was and I'm curious lol all this drama its better then tv!
If the hay still needs to be tedded and windrowed, what's the advantage of one of these machines (other than the tighter turning radius) versus just using a tractor mounted mower?
Why are some North American NEW HOLLAND machines painted red? Here in Europe NEW HOLLAND machines are only painted in FORD blue and NEW HOLLAND yellow.
Good question. I am not sure but here is my guess. New Holland started in 1895 and all there grinders and engines were red and then they got into haying machines in the 1930's they painted those red and yellow. There was talk around 1989 of painting the hay tools Blue but it got a big Noooooo from the dealers. Why are they yellow in Europe? My guess is because Sperry-New Holland bought Claeys combines in 1964. Claeys Combines were yellow and I would guess New Holland used the Claeys dealership network to distribute New Holland hay and forage equipment in Europe. The Claeys combines were imported to the U.S. and from 1965 to 1972 they were painted red to sell in North America. Variations are always interesting. Great question.
The hay tools are all red here but the NH factories make the yellow ones for Europe too. I have seen all yellow Speedrowers on a semi near St.Louis. If I can find the pics I took of them I will post them on Instagram.
Hunter John I had similar problems Wes did. The truth of the matter is, New Holland reliability is at an all time low. Plus corporate doesn't care about the end user. When my dealer couldn't fix mine, I called New Holland and no matter what they would not talk to me. After 40 min or more on hold, I was told to call my dealer and hung up on. This happened 7 times. I finally gave up and have now sold everything NH I owned including my highly problematic BB340 and replaced it with John Deere and Krone. New Holland is junk.
The "NO ROWER 260" has a junk Head on it just like OLF has said ,, anyone who actually watched his videos would see all the troubles he had with it with video proof,,, he bought the biggest one they sold and it could not handle the work it was ask'd to to by OLF ,, and he didn't abuse it or ask it to do anything more than it was "supposed " to be able to do.. it was well maintained and used the way it was designed to be used .. so all You people haters making comments about OLF just have no clue as to what you are talking about and are nothing more than "ASS HATS" !! And haters ...
I have to toss my experience with New Holland also. Onelonelyfarmer is exactly right, NH has problems with hydralics and controls. Mine is 40 years of construction operating the four major brands. Best: Cat, 2nd: John Deere (except their hoses blow constantly), 3rd: Case, and finally, NewHolland, leave it on the lot.
+Joshua Goad I would say you have to make the gates wider if needed. I have filmed a JD 946 pull type going through narrow gates. With that they used swivel hitch to angle the wide cutter on an angle through a gate that was a foot narrower.
At 9:58 wondering if there was a sudden speed change or braking causing the rear end bounce? Rear end looks squirrelly on the turns. 4:34 seen amusement park rides that are smoother.
Take a look at the weight of his bails and the amount he produces per Acre. His wind rows appears to be double the size this wind rower is producing. Meaning he is running twice what this machine is. Farms out here in Iowa hardly ever run Hay in a field more than one or two seasons before changing the crop in that field. Wes has fields that have been hay for more than 5 years That is well fertilized and tested so producing more Hay per acre.
I would go for a John Deere version of this speed rower, much better stability.I watch every video Wes made about this machine that he bought BRAND NEW!!,its junk and when money is tight, you simply cannot take chances.Failure isn't a option and you have to stay within budget, but at the same time buy a machine that's safe and reliable, with a dealership network that will back your machine to the max..John Deere gets my vote.
bigtractorpower Oh yeah...he had a bit of a rant about his 240 NO ROWER,when it left him high and dry in the middle of a field about 2 hours from his shop.
it is sad to see all the comments from guys that think this machine is junk they never operated one. our neighbor has one and it has been on our farm many times they are great machines
Elm custom harvesting ur right! from all the comments about olf I bet he was tryin to mow through the creek and over a rock pile and wondered why it broke. He could brake an anvil
onelonleyfarmer Everyone farm and ground is different, every driver is different! Heck you saw yourself when Timothy drove your 240 he had no complaints, I'm not saying your the issue or whatever, just theres more to take into account when judging the machine than just what you yourself on your farm have experienced. Love the vids!
He built his channel around strong negative opinions, .. about anything. I've not watched him for nearly a year. Anybody with such a foul vocabulary is not worthy of anybody's time.
Rightsideofthegrass evidently he's worth your time because you're still watching him after a year! OLF tells it like it is and when it's junk it's Junk!
well, he says his opinion. the reason why you saw more videos on the 240 and the baler is because they broke alot more. his one complaint about the JD windrower is the computer bootup.

They are the best for small fields no doubt.I’ve ran both and you can mow what about 3 pull types will in a day they are very expensive tho!

what a lovly machine , got that right yes !!
Interesting machine, haven't seen one of those around (yet).
+nagd2010 this was the first one I have had a chance to film. I hope to add more mowers and brands in videos if I can find them at work.
My ole JD 1209 would make that look sick .. 16ft on a side hill will cut high on side hill
Good Video!
Farmer Gerry here how fast was he running the header and did he have the engine running at full RPM or was he conserving fuel to be cutting at nine mile an hour
Who here came from OLF's video,to see a newer version of a NOROWER!!!!
FARMinLATVIA here😂😂
Lol. Enough of us. One Lonley Farmer Fans unite!
OLF is right about the NoRower!!
FARMinLATVIA I joind
Me
Hahaha oh man. Steep and hilly, come to Pennsylvania and navigate our hills with a chopper and a wagon
Hill pose challenges for sure.

bigtractorpower According to OLF you apologized to him and thanked him for sending you viewers !!
Oh big tractor power
I'd still rather use a 4020 and 489 haybine if I had one
MikeK 02 maybe a John Deere 4320 And a 956 mower then I'll feel at home
what a lovley tool, very much like a rape.swather I use to drive, thanks for the video

iowadairyboys no kidding
iowadairyboys The section will never be the same
who the hell is the dude that posted a video bashing olf? every one over there is scared to mention who it was and I'm curious lol all this drama its better then tv!
Yeah.....Wes could have told us.
iowadairyboys agreed its just sad
came here to see the NOROWER. 😋
i prefer my HW 340 as it has the solid rear axle and less tech in it
seems to be a little lite in the ass end
If the hay still needs to be tedded and windrowed, what's the advantage of one of these machines (other than the tighter turning radius) versus just using a tractor mounted mower?
Speed. These self propelled models now faster and wider. The spin around saves allot of time.
Yes speed is a big thing... sometimes pull types are seem so clumsy
another great video thanks
Why are some North American NEW HOLLAND machines painted red? Here in Europe NEW HOLLAND machines are only painted in FORD blue and NEW HOLLAND yellow.
Favorit 926 Vario Most of their hay equipment is red, I'm pretty sure all of it is honestly. Their tractors are still blue. Their combines are yellow.
New Holland doesn't really stick with one color across all of their equipment like the other manufacturers do
all New Holland speedrowers bailers and pull type mowers are painted red in the United States !!!!!
Good question. I am not sure but here is my guess. New Holland started in 1895 and all there grinders and engines were red and then they got into haying machines in the 1930's they painted those red and yellow. What's the working speed on one of these?
What crop is this??
Alfalfa mixed with Timothy.
Alfalfa and orchard grass, not Timothy
That’s alfalfa and orchard grass... definitely not Timothy
NE Iowa - Driftless Region - God's Country
And I'm wondering why they didn't add this to Farming Simulator 22 it would be Mighty popular

max working speed?

Vey nice
Anybody else thinking of Onelonleyfarmer??
Farmerjon9660 yep lol!
Yip, he had bad luck with that one, I saw many many others running with no problems
Came here to see because of Wes Pandy
me too!

OLF has done a nice job breaking down the differences from a Deere, CNH and Massey mower.
bigtractorpower Oh yeah...he had a bit of a rant about his 240 NO ROWER,when it left him high and dry in the middle of a field about 2 hours from his shop.

am I the only one that is here because olf' s video?
Joseph Guisti
I watched just because OLF said to watch this video. Certainly a lot of bouncing from the lite rear-end on this machine.
bparsons72007 agreed
Are we witnessing the no rower 260?
OLF Showed us all about the "NoRower"
He built his channel around strong negative opinions, .. about anything. I've not watched him for nearly a year. Anybody with such a foul vocabulary is not worthy of anybody's time.
Hasnt been much negativity towards the John deere or Krone equipment.
Rightsideofthegrass evidently he's worth your time because you're still watching him after a year! OLF tells it like it is and when it's junk it's Junk!
well, he says his opinion. the reason why you saw more videos on the 240 and the baler is because they broke alot more. his one complaint about the JD windrower is the computer bootup.
non at all can anyone guess why?
that thing looks front heavy every time he turns the rear wheels try to come off the ground and cause an oversteer or are you that bad of a driver
+thebad300 I rode in the cab. The operator navigated the slopes very well. It's just the lay of the Terrain.
is this mower set up for round bail or square bail hay ??
This farm round and big bales. This field was big baled.
1. This video sounds like an advertisement for New Holland.
2. It would have been more informative if it had shown the operator in the seat while it was swathing, so we could see whether the operator looked comfortable, and so we could see how easy it is to steer.

nope john deere rower is better i ran one few times n new Holland
Oh I bet olf would love one these lol
when you dont know what you are looking at
have never operated such machines
a real pig of a machine can be called good
this is real life not fantasy farming
That windrow looks very inconsistent.
wow you can see the back coming off the ground. even with him slowing down at the end of the row.
Ran one they suck header stalls out all the time
The back end is lifting up alot on turns
Sounds sometimes as if it has not enough horsepower ?
It appeared to me in the field to have plenty of power. The sound may be the machine adjusting to the slope or turning around.
OLF is right this self propelled mower doesn't look stable.
The NOROWER :D
That machine is so unstable on the ground that I would not even use it to mow the lawn in front of my house
Oh yes Wes pandy.
This mower is junk. I rather see a John Deere in the fields. I totally agree with Onelonleyfarmer thoughts on the machine.
Junk
Not speed it is the norower
a new Holland no rower
Kinda dislike the channel because of this video
first
