    Back in the 60s we had a 540 with the David Brown 900, and that was it back then. No kicker,just me and whoever grabbing and stacking! Thanks for the film,it was very good.

    I grew up in Eastern Canada, and we hauled anywhere from 2 to 15 miles away so we always had two of us on the wagon stacking the wagon full so we would get more bales on it! You learned fast to always keep one eye on the kicker!

    Nice setup although that tractor is easily twice as large as is needed and it’s not even breaking a sweat!

    I grew up in northern NY on a dairy farm. As kids my cousin and I would be riding in the wagon of a setup like this, dodging the bales as they were kicked out and stacking them in the wagon so it would hold more bales.

    A bale every 6-7 seconds... that’s roughly 10 bales a minute... About 600 bales per hour..... not bad at all... you can have a load in 5-10 minutes..

    I started with a NH 273 pulled by a IH 656 back in the 80s. Moved up to a 315 behind an 806 for more capacity, then got a NH 316 that was in much better shape. All of them had the belted throwers. Baled alfalfa and straw. Retired and sold the 316 last year.

    When the video started I thought that's Wisconsin but then talked myself out of it. My Grandma always told me if you aren't positive go with your first guess as it will probably be correct and as usual she was right again. I bale with a BC5070 and thrower just like what is in the video. We make feed for our horse farm and small sales operation in CT with it. I ran it for years with a nice vintage Ford 9600, but upgraded to a used John Deere 7320 a couple years ago. We have a fair amount of hills on the farm and I will often stack the wagon as I kick the bales on, so the size of the 7320 is nice to hold back that weight.

      I think its 'balers choice' additive. You would usually see in on large square balers here in Northern Ireland. It helps to reduce the moisture content in the straw.

    • @toddphillips1588
      @toddphillips1588 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      More or less used for marginal hay so it cures even having extra moisture in it. We try to keep moisture below 12% so the bales don't get musty.

    We use a 575 nh baler and pull it with ih 766 or jd 3010 tractor. Baler has a tray and we stack on a rack wagon. Works really good in both hay and straw. Have to work a little hard, but sure is nice to have good bales when the snow blows.

There's many times I had to push it and hurry up get the hay off before some rain storms in the forecast was coming and as long as you keep the top of the Bale chamber clean from buildup of chaff where the nodders are located, that Baler will outperform anyting back in its day!

We thought it was so cool now that we didn't have to stack the bales on a wagon and then unload to restack them in the barn. Didn't make any difference as the farmer could bale twice as fast and we never got out of that hot haymow. Just kept on changing the wagons. Used an M to pull the hay wagons. Good times!

    We use a 5070 and a 575 new Holland with accumulators on the back. We run Deere and caseih tractors. We bale coastal Bermuda for the horse people .

    Just an observation. It appears thats a New Holland t 6070. Not a 7060.

    Whats the liquid in the tank on these balers?

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a citrus preservative applied when they are baking hay to prevent molding.

    Hello everyone... Where can get a nh BC 5070 manual?

    • @bigtractorpower

      I would say a New Holland dealer, eBay or Facebook market place would all be good sources.

    The rhythmic sound of a small baler is so relaxing! Yes riding in that wagon to stack bales would require one to be on their toes! What fluid is in that tank back by knotter and what is the purpose? Thanks

    • @haweater1555
      @haweater1555 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Acid preservative that would be applied to hay to keep it from heating and rotting if the water content was too high. Unlikely to be used when making straw in this instance.

    Late 70s through the early 2000s we used a 315 NH baler with a belt thrower. Pulled it mostly with an Oliver 1655, occasionally with an Oliver 1550.

      @@bigtractorpower We had a Model 67 NH baler before that, mostly pulled by a Fordson Major Diesel. Used an AC WD with it in the earlier days but that was a challenge for the little orange tractor.
