  • This 50 year old John Deere Tractor was not an easy project but it was one of the most rewarding things to see when it finally started up! Tractors have been a passion of mine since I was a kid so getting these old John Deeres up and running again mean the world to me!
See you on the next one,

At the age of 9, I learned how to drive on an early 40's Ford 8N tractor. 'Couple of days later, I was runnin' the brush hog in the back 40!!! I love old tractors bro! Ever watch the Classic Tractor show on RFDTV? My dad was a badass welder. He taught me at a young age to torch weld, stick weld, and repair old radiators with a coat hanger and a torch. Most people today have no idea what it took back in the day to keep things running! Thay's one of the main reasons I love watching what you do. Nothing in your mindset has a five year lifespan... What, no Indian Head gasket sealer???!!!

I grew up with these old John Deeres! I helped my dad rebuild a 1947 John Deere Lindeman Crawler bulldozer that he bought new! I was only about 8 years old but I was born a gearhead and learned a lot from working on it! It had the Magneto and you had to spin the flywheel to start it! Over the years I learned how to tune that thing to where it would start on the first spin of the flywheel! About 10 years ago I had to rebuild the carb and do a lot of other things to it to make it run again after a long nap in my dads barn. The local John Deere dealer was able to order the carb kit , plugs and some other things that it needed and they came in overnight! I don't know if you will remember me, I'm the guy that gave you a hard time for leaving the 67 Chevy truck at Dan's junkyard! I grew up around Chevy trucks too! And I also grew up around Pontiacs and that truck has a Pontiac engine in it! If I had that truck I would keep the Pontiac engine in it and put tri-power on it like the 57 through 66 Pontiacs came with! Did you know that the 50's GMC'S came from the factory with Pontiac V8'S! Put a GMC tailgate and grille in it and say it is a prototype! That GMC was going to put Pontiac V8'S in trucks again in 67 and Pontiac wouldn't sell them the engines! Oh yea, The reason so many guys like the old John Deeres is that them and Harley's sound alike! The little miss between the cylinders firing!

Old tractors are cool ! I learned to drive on a then newish 1953 Ford Jubilee tractor. I was 12 and would go to a family friends farm every summer. For a city boy it was heaven and driving a tractor was a dream. It was the 60’s and the farm in northern Ontario didn’t even have running water. I could have cared less , I was all about that tractor .

The purpose of the small and large tanks on the John Deere B: The small tank was for gasoline and the larger tank was for kerosene. The engine was started on gasoline and after warming up it was switched over to kerosene for field work. Prior to shutting down the engine it was switched back to gasoline in preparation for the next start. Great old tractor I have spent many hours operating one here on our farm. Thanks for the video.

I was a tractor and equipment mechanic for several years during my career days. Enjoyed working on anything mechanical. I remember a shop Forman asking if there was any tractors I wouldn't work on, told him 'yeah, the ones you can't get parts for. I just didn't like the idea of tying up shop space and then having to move them out with a forklift, lol. Heck, I was even working on the POS Russian Belarus tractors. Primarily, I really liked the older Fords and John Deere's. I'm retired now, ended my career as a hi pressure, closed loop hydraulics technical. Just means I built machinery for the offshore oil/gas industry. Actually it was lung cancer that forced my retirement. All's good though, I had a blast doing what I did. Oh yeah, I beat the cancer but it did enough damage that I no longer work, now disabled. Man I miss all the wrenching I used to do, If I was able, I'd still be at it, loved that stuff.

@@WelderUpVegas There was a fellow that lived about 2-3 miles from me that had an ol model 60, popping Johnnie. I used to keep it going for him. He had a JD drag type bush hog and I was looking over it one day and it freaked me out, the serial number of the Bush hog was 001, I told him whatever he did to never sell that bush hog or tractor. He had a friend lived about a mile away and every time he started the tractor the friend would come over just to see it work. The tractor didn't have a mufflr and I told him we could put one on it and he said why, A pair of earplugs only cost .39 cents, I still laugh about that today. The ol man passed yrs back, never knew what happen to the tractor or cutter. As far as the cancer, its all good, that was 6+yrs back, after the Doctors had give me 90 days to live, the Lord has blessed me so much.1st time I ever seen you was when you had the TV show and I watched you destroy the motor doing donuts in the parking lot, I was hooked from then on.
