Glad you liked it! It should be on your list if you like the beach. There should be a behind the scenes type video with some of the usual wheeling suspects coming soon.
Yeah, the camping was nice other than the constant 20+ MPH winds on night 1! Otherwise, with the sound of the waves I slept like a baby. The sunrises were amazing 👍
Nice video! I'm planning a trip to Cape Lookout this summer...My only concern is I have a 2017 Nissan Murano AWD...I know that it has some limitations (no low range specially) but I never had issues on the beach with it...even last year on Cape Hatteras. Do you think the sand is worst on Lookout than in Hatteras? Our Murano is our SUV Camper, so, we don't want to make extreme adventures on the beach, just enter to the beach, go from north to south and pick a spot for camping. BTW, I love your X-Terra. Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words! I don’t really have any AWD beach experience, so you’re more of an expert than me. I’ve not driven at Hatteras so I can’t compare to that. Most of my beach driving is at Brigantine, NJ which has lots of “sugar sand” and Cape Lookout was not as difficult going as that. I saw a few Subarus at CaLo, so I’m assuming that good tires and airing down are key.
@@moodsofoverland yes! Usually I put 16 to 18 psi on the beach! And with that + be cautious with the deep sand, I’ve been ok! I love my Murano but I hate that Nissan removed the 50/50 lock button on 2015! After my trip, I’ll came back here to share my experience…maybe that help somebody else. Thanks!
Really enjoyed the video, very informative. I have been thinking of a trip to Cape Lookout for awhile, and now I’m going into planning mode. Any thoughts on visiting in July? Is it too hot? We are in south Florida so I don’t think it will matter too much. 😅thank you.
This was one of the best and most informative videos of camping at cape lookout, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Great video Dave! I've added this trip to my list of places to go. Thanks for sharing the experience and for all the tips and info.

I haven't been there since 1981. I think it's time.
Thanks for the video.
A great Mid-Atlantic destination in my book. Thanks for watching!
Thank you, Dave, for all the wonderful information! Our overland friends ask us every year to join them. Sure does look like a good times! We just have a hard time leaving the mountain shade. 🙂
You're doing such a nice job with your content, story telling/information and video editing. Keep on rockin' !

Great spot. Was there in April.
Any recommendation for the best time of year to go?
I’ve only been there in the spring, which is nice. I think that or fall are likely best.
@@moodsofoverland I’ve been in spring. I guess I’ll try fall next. Thx!

I’ve not been in July. The sea breeze should help, but it will likely be hot. Bring shade with you and bug spray.
Thats insane money
What is? The ferry? It’s not bad if you’re staying a while.
