Guys, Chris Titus Tech has a channel which is mostly focused on Linux (these days, it didn't start that way). He has a gaming series, people who are interested in gaming on Linux might want to check it out. All the reasons to abandon windows 7 were artificially created by microsoft. The only thing wrong with windows 7 is that microsoft refuses to give the newest security and features from win10 because it doesn't suit their "grand plan", whatever it is. Windows XP compared to Windows 7 is incompatible with most features, but microsoft can easily make win7 have all the good features of win10 if they wanted to.
@EJSC I've ran Windows10 for over a year now, and I haven't experienced "laggy" or "awful mouse input" at all. I love that I can play DX12 games also. Only thing that really bothers me is that the updates decide to install whenever they fucking want. Aside from that, it's really not that bad of a OS, and that's coming from a day 1 adopter of Windows 7.
@EJSC You are forgetting the endless data collecting of everything you do (even private folders). Sure you can opt out but some data is still collected. You can spend hours using user tweaks to disable all the garbage but apparently w10 can override your settings so you will always be required to monitor it. W10 updates also have been know to default all your privacy settings or flat out override tweaks/changes in registry. W10 sounds like a pain in the ass if you want personally freedom. The fact that China called bs (China the most data collecting place on the planet) and now have a W10 China version that is free of data collecting.....Is somewhat scary.

I haven't had any problems with Windows 10, in any respect. I was forced to upgrade to Windows 8.1 years ago because 7 didn't support a driver I needed. It actually wouldn't be. That's the problem that's put us where we are today. 2010 thru 2020 proved that making a system largely out of user control is totally more profitable. Saved costs from one platform to support only + enhanced ability to view any data in the cloud to be analyzed at will + devs have to share percentages of their sales with MicrosoftStore/PlayStore/iTunes. Waywayway more money to be made in the cloud methodology - so local hardware is dying. It's actually NOT profitable to give the user what they want.
The problem is that we are not the market for windows. Gamers/power users are a small minority. most windows users are either businesses/organisations or just your average person with a laptop. They don't really care about the features or data collection and actually like the non-customisable plug-and-play nature of windows 10.

Also as the end of updates goes, I couldnt care less, I stopped installing any of those after windows reinstall long time ago and it doesnt affect your system in any way, we could consider it a bloatware lol.. As far as protection goes, you are supposed to use a good AV, VPN, and dont attract attention so some tryhard kid doesnt hack you thru some unpatched vulnerability and even then no amount of updates might help you if you dont follow those 3 rules..Well then.. Long live the King.. And lets pity those who completely switched over to forced updates and spyware, thinking they would lose out on something if they used win7 or 8.1 as their daily
Many of us went into modified 10, like Ghost Edition, with removed bloatware, disabled telemetry and so on. Personally for me a different user interface was the hardest switch. Mix of Win 8 and 10 would look better than a plain 10. But TBH, Microsoft should add all of there themes into 10. I believe that many users seeing Win7 theme at the begging would be more interested in switching to 10. Me included. I did my switch only to have better Ambilight and game performance.

No, it's not a bad OS, it's just different than what Windows or MAC users are used to. There's a bit of a learning curve. The only place where there's a problem is with gaming, but even that is changing now, and quickly. As for it being a kernel or OS... Yeah, sure, technically the OS is considered GNU/Linux, but even pedants understand that when somebody says Linux on its own, they're generally referencing the entire OS. In almost all cases, when somebody speaks of the kernel they say so explicitly...
@@S0uLGamin The kernel is the core of any Operating System. It's the bit that tells the hardware what the software wants it to do. Kind of like a translator.
@@TechyBenYep, a surprising number of people forget that the actual experience between Vista SP2 and Win 7 at launch was actually really similar. If it wasn't for the lack of steam support on it as of January I would have no issues using it on my secondary machine (it's set up with all my older games and emulators).

Honestly, I don't understand why people hate on Windows 10 so much. Yes, it is not a system without flaws (seriously, which system is flawless?), but it is fast, responsive and pretty easy to modify for your needs (you just need to have basic knowledge in computers, or basic knowledge on fucking google because you can literally find everything you need there lol). I have stopped updates on my Windows and now I am deciding when I want to update. For example, when that buggy update came out that deleted users data, I was sitting and laughing at people who are just too lazy to change few lines in the registry which are easy as fuck because as I mentioned, you can find everything on the google. So, when people were crying that their system deleted their data, I was waiting for hotfix on that shit and then I just went to settings and updated my system manually. Also, I turned off Cortana completely because she was annoying as fuck, and my system runs flawlessly. People are just stubborn idiots. Windows 7 is outdated in every possible way, in my company where I work, we still have few computers that are not updated to Windows 10 from Windows 7, and all of them are awfully sluggish and just annoying compared to computers with Windows 10. When it comes to data collection, as Linus mentioned, you can limit this process pretty well. Of course, some data is still sent to Microsoft, but hey, tell me right now which system is not sending any data besides Linux, which is open source system with a very complicated layout, that is not very tempting for avg user? Windows XP compared to Windows 7 is incompatible with most features, but microsoft can easily make win7 have all the good features of win10 if they wanted to.

@EJSC I've ran Windows10 for over a year now, and I haven't experienced "laggy" or "awful mouse input" at all. I love that I can play DX12 games also. Only thing that really bothers me is that the updates decide to install whenever they fucking want. @EJSC
You are forgetting the endless data collecting of everything you do (even private folders).

Of course, not. Maximizing ad clicks via / in OS - that's what's more profitable

It seems like just recently that XP was cut and 7 was the thing to get.

Yeah, widows 8 had no reason to exist, they should have just supported windows 7 for like 6 years before then even thought about building another OS. But every time they make a new version of windows that's more money for them regardless if the OS is good or not.

Ahahaha.. True..
