      Yeah the rust is bad 😭😭 but I'm gonna sort it as soon as I can hopefully 🤞🏻😊

      @@NorthCoastWorkshop yes without doubt I will comment on further videos , you always find good useful ones mate , I need to do my rear wheel bearings soon as they are loud , I will be looking forward to you tackling the rear rust issues , iam used to that as I have a 1979 mk2 escort that’s my hobby lol

      Awesome project car/hobby 👍🏻 they are getting rare now too! Is it used on the road just now or are u restoring it currently??

      @@NorthCoastWorkshop no not on the road yet Kev , it’s been on a spit till 6 months ago doing all the welding and seam welding chassis so it’s super strong iam going for the rally look tarmac arches roll cage etc and a 2.0 pinto , but it’s nice to find someone similar to my escort videos who is into mk2 Leon’s , it’s took me a while to like the mk2 I have had 5 Mk 1 Leon Cupra r s in the past my daily is a Leon reference sport with factory fitted btcc kit on , I love the look of the kit it’s the 2.0 diesel version , my job at the wknd is take the front bumper off to take the headlight out as I can’t remove the bloody indicator as it’s not working lol 😂

    • @NorthCoastWorkshop
      @NorthCoastWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😅😅 it's madness the bumper has to come off the MK2s to get the headlights out!! 🙈
      Sounds like a good looking MK2 u have 👌🏻 I love those kits, mines very boring looking in comparison 😅
      If ur on any of my other socials (Instagram/Facebook) feel free to get in touch to fire any photos through for the restoration. I always geek out on things like that. I followed the journey of a pig 205 GTi getting restored a while back. Something I'd love to do if I had a double sized garage later in life.

    I've literally just ordered one yesterday after the magnetic ring killed my abs sensor, perfect timing video 😊

      All is well now, new sensor & bearing assembly, although the carrier didn't need to be removed as the disc can be removed from just taking the caliper out, glad I didn't go through that hassle as you did 😂

    • @NorthCoastWorkshop
      @NorthCoastWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great to hear it was a success for u mate 👍🏻 yeah another viewer commented this about leaving the caliper carrier bracket in place. I should have demonstrated it on my car, but the larger Cupra R rear discs don't allow enough room to take them off until the bracket is out the way, so I get the short straw 😅🙈 glad it's a bit more straightforward on the slightly smaller discs 😊👍🏻

  • @_LuisS
    @_LuisS ปีที่แล้ว

    very well shot video with exactly th information needed.
    I just want to add one tip to anyone doing this in the future.As he mentioned the carrier bolts aren't the easiest to get to. But for this job you don't actually need to remove them. By removing just the caliper the disc will clear the carrier and you'll be able to get to the bearing. Will save you time, hassle and a good few swear words. 😀

    • @NorthCoastWorkshop
      @NorthCoastWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers for watching Luis 🙏🏻😁 For some smaller discs you're exactly correct, something I forgot to mention in the video 🙈 On the other side of my car, I struggled getting the disc off by leaving the carrier in place, and after asking around, the largest disc size (282mm diameter) on my Cupra R, won't get past the carrier for some reason. All the other sizes, as u said, squeeze past it. I forgot to say this in the video, and appreciate your good point for others to see 😊👍🏻

    I replaced mine as well bro but it was cupping on one of the tyres ,but glad I did swap out. and same as your Leon the Scottish road where/are unforgiving with corrosion on the rear

    I’ve got a 2009 Seat Leon Fr 2.0 tdi and I need 2 rear wheel bearings but I’m confused on which ones I need as I know there’s two different ones a 30mm and 32mm inside diameter. I’ve phoned SEAT and they don’t know. Do you know how I’ll find out? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

    I did my rear bearing today, jacked up and put axle stand under, then dropped down took the wheel off, tapped the cover off the bearing, M18 tool on breaker bar and undone bolt easy enough, undone bolts on caliper, set to one side, T30 on bolt on disc removed, handbrake off, pads out, slide disc around carrier, fully remove M18 bolt and slide off bearing, then reverse of the above, was done in 50 mins 😂

      @NorthCoastWorkshop  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well hats off to you!! Wish mine had been so straightforward!! 😅🙈 The discs on the rear of my car are the max size and just ever so slightly too big to sneak past the carrier sadly 🙃
      But nice work, if you've a spare moment my other side still needs done 😅👍🏻

    Lots of rust! My car came from coastal town & looks similar :( not sure there is anything that can be done, just more patience & cursing on maintenance jobs. Do you get the full torque figures on bearing, the extra 180degrees after 200nm can be a fight 😂

    • @NorthCoastWorkshop
      @NorthCoastWorkshop  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I know, just say it !! I thought I was gonna burst a blood vessel or break something!! 😂
      I've seen mixed messages on the +180 degrees bit. I think I've currently got it blurred out in the vid, even tho I possibly mention it somewhere.
      Downloaded Workshop manual does actually say +180 degrees but I couldn't get it all the way around 🙈 It's "F'ing" tight tho!! 😂

    Great video as always matey!
    Thanks for the content, always super helpful!
    I've just ordered OEM pads all round to do on mine, will order dust backplates and new discs... I'll check out the wheel bearings too and might have to order the VAG OEM parts unless you have the code for it?

    • @NorthCoastWorkshop
      @NorthCoastWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      The OEM part numbers for the bearings are
      1K0598611 for the 30mm diameter
      3G0598611A for the 32mm diameter
      I used the 32mm version which has the flat back, so you'll probably have to check which one you have just to make sure.
      Cheers for getting in touch mate, and the support 😊👍🏻

    The theory about smoth ages of bearing is not work, I have without no shapes and 30mm. Better just lose center bolt when car on jack, and check diameter.
    Second advice that you shouldn't loose brake caliper bracket at all(it's no needed and not comfortable), better way it's just unscrew the top brake caliper bolt, and disconnect hand brake cable, after that you can open brake caliper and get brake pads, next steps as on video unscrew brake disc and unscrew bearing

    • @NorthCoastWorkshop
      @NorthCoastWorkshop  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's very strange to hear about the bearing not being as it should. It was the advice that I followed from a few other Leon owners and in my case it applied. Sorry to hears yours wasn't the same.
      The caliper brackets have to be removed on the rear of my car because I have the largest brake diameter available on the Cupra R, and it won't squeeze past sadly. Trust me, I tried to save myself some time and squeeze it past or nearly 10 minutes!! 😅🙈
      A lot of TH-cam videos show it not getting removed on cars with smaller diameter discs. I showed the removal process so that any owner could do it no matter what size there discs were.
      Appreciate the heads up though 🙏🏻and thank you for watching 👍🏻

    Scottish roads really are terrible for the underneath of our cars. My Golf is equally as crusty underneath. 90% of working on them is dealing with crusty bolts!

    • @NorthCoastWorkshop
      @NorthCoastWorkshop  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly mate! It just adds so much more time and hassle to jobs that should otherwise be straightforward. Glad it's not just me, I sometimes feel that maybe I've just mistreated my Cupra it's that bad 😅🙈
