@Heather Larson, Mustafa Genius is right. Marshal Plan was the white American wanted to help their fellow white people in Europe after WWII, it was completely differences as compare to the Belt and Road Initiative. The Belt and Road Initiative is purely based on trades and businesses opportunities; it is benefits for Asian people, European people and African people, no militaries and no politics involve. And it is 1000 times bigger than Marshal Plan. Show less REPLY
That's a rather incomprehensive view over the Marshall plan. "Foreign Assistance Act of 1948", or "Marshall Plan" as we know it, was authorized under the previously formulated "Foreign Aid Act of 1947", for which China(KMT) and South Korea were also covered by financial aids.
Giacc S The original silk road wasn't directly driven by the Chinese government, although we could say that the military expansion into central Asia(for the proclaimed Chinese national security) set the path for it.

It is Oct 2019, approximately 20 months after this documentary. Instead of taking the opportunity from BRI as being said by Hong Kong, youngsters in Hong Kong today are putting themselves in a tough situation with economy recession are just around the corner.
Economic inequality is the roots of war. BRI will help to tackle that. There is no rationale for nations to conquor the whole world anymore, just regional readjustments. International trade needs customers who can pay, so it is only logical to maintain prosperity throughout the world.
@zak quen If you merely think of trade as an exchange of goods, then you do not understand business & economics. If say you can buy great tools at a good price from China to set up a business to produce more valuable output, be that be services or goods or merely resell, then it is a good deal for you eventhough you may not have something to sell to China. If you have ambition to do big business, you need to be able to reach buyers & sellers from big markets. And BRI is the infrastructure that enables such ambitions to be realised. If you believe you have the ability to make it in the world, try, but it requires a tough mind to make it in the world. Stay landlocked, then you remain poor generation after generation. Winners become rich and losers are just losers.

@@danielhutchinson6604 Industrial farming is not subsistence farming because it makes big profit. And people work in big cities to find their fortune, or at least better standard of living. You really fancy a life like that while you are well fed, sheltered and safe?
Britain is at the end of the belt and road initiative, from a geographic point of view and from a economic point of view trade routes have proven how geography determines destiny. That is maybe China's interests in the UK and maybe our interest in understanding implementing UK and China trade.
BRI finally helps to link up poor Asian and African countries with the world and gives them the opportunity to trade their indigenous produce with other countries, besides many other national benefits like easier transportation. It is also to China's advantage, but what is so bad about a win-win situation?
The Chinese are borrowing trillions of dollars to build this. The question is will the return come before payments have to be made. To those mealy mouthed US citizens that say China is wasting money i say you spent $5 trillion in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya. What did you get ISIS and a stronger taliban. such an ambitious ongoing project and surely will drive down the price of almost everything, if not all which exciting to be seen later on, But I wish this documentary would expose the other site of impact of this project. I believe many bag packers would storm the silk route. (y)
I once watched a clip by an American strategist who theorized that America has to pivot towards Asia as Europe seemed to him as a mere MUSEUM with old ppl strutting around and HE MIGHT BE RIGHT.
*Actually...the so called "Silk Road" started and ended in Japan...by the way of trading vessels...The "Wa-kuo Invisible Bridge" connected the Land of Wa(Japan) to the Land of Pharaohs(Egypt)...the representative and prove of that is the thousands years old symbol of the city of Yamagata...a flower from Egypt/Ethiopia(Safflower)...In Japan, dyers have mastered the technique of producing a bright red to orange-red dye (known as carthamin) from the dried florets of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius). A bath solution of cold water is first prepared, to which is added the collected extract made from a type of plum causes the colorant to precipitate onto a piece of silk.Plants are 30 to 150 cm (12 to 59 in) tall with globular flower heads having yellow, orange, or red flowers.Safflower is one of humanity's oldest crops. Chemical analysis of ancient Egyptian textiles dated to the Twelfth Dynasty identified dyes made from safflower, and garlands made from safflowers were found in the tomb of the pharaoh Tutankhamun. The history of the "Silk Road" pre-dates the Han Dynasty in practice.*
Very interesting! But someone needs to work on the subtitles, which are incomprehensible in many places. I intend to watch this again on a big screen and will recommend it to some of my family and friends. Thank you for making the film.
i like Jack's vertical farming idea. The "new silk road" wont really benefit developing countries like Cambodia or Thailand other than updating their infrastructure. The real profits will go to established countries like China and Malaysia.
As an Indian I can say that people are all hyped up and writing really immature comments about America , western Europe and India in general. India does not have an inferiority complex, maybe some Indians do.The Belt Road Initiative is a great idea which will integrate Asia and surrounding continents into one large market and improve trade. It is long overdue. But India's strategic planners have to think strategically and see what it can benefit from the BRI. As the only heavy counterweight in Asia against China it has to tread cautiously and look at the long term implications both economically and militarily . America and western Europe definitely want to maintain their status quo.But we can learn a lot from them especially their institutes, quality of research and cutting edge innovation which keeps them ahead.
We can learn from China too. China has become a land of engineers; look at fire ice mining, the Hong Kong-Zuhai-Macau sea bridge, transmission of electricity from Western China to Eastern China, BRI, etc. In comparison, India is far far behind in literary every aspect of development. I don't think China considers India a counterweight in Asia; they consider the US as a counterweight in Asia and they are correct.

I think most if not all of the West seem to look at issues and challenges based purely from their view and notwithstanding their supposedly concern for the developing world, they always want their interests to come first; hence their attitude towards BRI. Do note that many of the CIS countries are trying very hard to improve their lot being all LLCs. Likewise the vast central Russian territory is basically under-developed/ With this connectivity, Russia and CIS should be able to contribute to the agricultural produces in the 21st Century. It is sad to note that in spite of all the propaganda on wanting to help others to progress, the West have in reality tried their best to stop this progress. Both China and Russia require this connectivity to develop the sparse regions located between them. Against the current scenario of no business, it is a case of some business; albeit more expensive than other parts of the world; at least business can stand off at the fringes of these nations located around the region. Prepare, the West should think over a longer period rather than the next election!
Absolutley right. It's like in real life when you are going to do something new and big everyone around will say that you can't handle it, you fail and so on. But in reality - you just do what you think is right.
What i am scared of when it comes to the rise of Russia and especially China, is that it will inevitably bring with it the rise of authoritarianism and absolutism. I agree that we need to work on our democratic system since it is faltering at the moment, and i really wish that the Chinese model could work democratically. However, When China emerges as the new world leader it will set a bad example for the rest of the world when they censor and rate their citizens, imprison and outlaw political opponents and acting in two faced manner in international politics (something the west needs to work on aswell). I wish we could all just get along, no people wants war, leaders do, and if we all could have open discussions then leaders could never fool us into it. If the internet or free speech is censored or repealed then we could be tricked into basically anything. Anyways im starting to rant. Im just trying to say that all sides have wrongs and rights. And just because the west are doing bad shit, it does not mean its okay for the east to do bad shit. We all need to change.
Todd Hårig No matter how you are brainwashed by the western media and chose to believe Chinese have an evil regime, we Chinese are having a better life and seeing things march into the right direction.

Please stop compering Silk road to Marshall plan,,belt and road initiative is hundred times bigger than Marshall plan which only focused few countries including Germany, France after world war 2

Mustafa Genius cuz this is a video made by American, you see
That's a rather incomprehensive view over the Marshall plan. "Foreign Assistance Act of 1948", or "Marshall Plan" as we know it, was authorized under the previously formulated "Foreign Aid Act of 1947", for which China(KMT) and South Korea were also covered by financial aids.

The original silk road wasn't directly driven by the Chinese government, although we could say that the military expansion into central Asia(for the proclaimed Chinese national security) set the path for it.
Mustafa Genius you hate US so badly.. surely you doesn't belong to China. Your country might have screwed up by US..
China is investing billions of dollars in Pakistan's infrastructure under CPEC project and i can already feel Pakistan is starting to reap its benefits.
...great planning and execution of the BRI unquestionably!
Great opportunity for emerging countries.
It is hardly to find in human history who can lead the world to develop such a project like this which can benefit to the world. Many underdeveloped countries in this project are really hope to see it success because there are abundant of educated young generation have the capability but never get opportunity to deploy their skill.Of cause some countries will fail and some will succeed because of human factor like politic, cultural, rules, regulation differences, these are all human made you can change or not to change it is all in your hand.If you have a better deal then you offer it the whole world is waiting. We no need noise.
Thanks for this video... I really enjoyed it.. right on the ideas .. amazing and ambition

I wish Canada join them for big projects like sky train between VCC to UBC, sky train expansion in Surry, and more bridges between Vancouver and Richmond, the brigde between Victoria and Tsawwassen.
India refuse to join BRI and let Chinese build rail ways there because then the trains will be too fast and they can't hang on to it.

Nice
Question is why do you want to destroy America or any country for that matter? Grow organically, economic growth is not the most important thing in the world. Everybody needs to be factored in and there will be many people who'se livelihoods will completely change for bad as well. Not to speak of the environment and the Earth.

@@EdwinaTS Golly but you are beneficient!

The people of Central Asia may have been content to simpy be victims of Nuke testing as the residents of Southern Uath were in the days of fallout coloring the rain?
Your terminology seems a bit narrow minded?
@@danielhutchinson6604 Becoming a Buddist priest, living in a Buddist community, small scale farming, . . . etc. are quite typical lifestyles for chinese people to live a pastoral lifestyle.
However, overwhelming majority of people aspire to get out of subsistence & poverty.
@@EdwinaTS Getting into subsistence industrial farming, or barely making a living in overcrowded cities seems equally unfulfilling....
Most humans seem to realize it sooner or later....
@@danielhutchinson6604 Industrial farming is not subsistence farming because it makes big profit.
And people work in big cities to find their fortune, or at least better standard of living.
It is your personal opinion that most people find life less fufilling in cities. Subsistance farming is endless toil at the mercy of weather and barely make enough to eat.
Asia is integrating, and here in Europe - "Brexit" pffff....
This will change the world!
EOS?!
Nice insights. Great move. Hope Nepal can be benefited.
China should give the Uyghur its nationality as a little token of recognition of Ancient History. Dr. May-yi did a wonderful presentation on this.
BRI finally helps to link up poor Asian and African countries with the world and gives them the opportunity to trade their indigenous produce with other countries, besides many other national benefits like easier transportation. It is also to China's advantage, but what is so bad about a win-win situation?
A GREAT PROJECT FOR BOTH SIDES
AUSTRALIA NEEDS GREAT PROJECTS
The Chinese are borrowing trillions of dollars to build this. The question is will the return come before payments have to be made. To those mealy mouthed US citizens that say China is wasting money i say you spent $5 trillion in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya. What did you get ISIS and a stronger taliban. China invested in the belt and road at the height of the terror attacks in Pakistan. China is doing a lot better job of wasting money. USA is squandering the best geography in the world.
Curious - from whom is China borrowing trillions..?

At past,Silk Road represents prosperity and wealth, but not war.China made contributions to economic prosperity rather than colonies which is totally different from western civilization.Nowadays China is still making its own contribution to the world with peace rather than war.

Look its been 11 months since your post. Maybe they are watching the Kardashian, I am not. I am studying mandarin so you don't have too.
U No I Mean?
Not this U.S guy
I just love the students’ facial expressions when she walked in the classroom - its like who this bitch is.
The vertical plant farm owner is very sincere about his work. Maybe that woman should talk a lesson from him
People live near the Silk Road don’t just get electricity, maybe a fridge and tv as living standards improve, a win for humanity.
Great video, well done May Yi
Great Documentary
You can really hear and see that this isn't reporting, but a marketing "documentary"..
Keep up The Great work!
2020. How you feel about it now?
中国的未来一定是更闪耀的,那需要我们全体华人的努力。

WONDERFUL !!
Visionary
Absolutley right. It's like in real life when you are going to do something new and big everyone around will say that you can't handle it, you fail and so on.
But in reality - you just do what you think is right.
What i am scared of when it comes to the rise of Russia and especially China, is that it will inevitably bring with it the rise of authoritarianism and absolutism. I agree that we need to work on our democratic system since it is faltering at the moment, and i really wish that the Chinese model could work democratically. However, When China emerges as the new world leader it will set a bad example for the rest of the world when they censor and rate their citizens, imprison
and outlaw political opponents and acting in two faced manner in international politics (something the west needs to work on aswell).

No matter how you are brainwashed by the western media and chose to believe Chinese have an evil regime, we Chinese are having a better life and seeing things march into the right direction.
