Gotta love that Americans and Europeans live in their own fake reality, powered by western media and government propaganda. They do not want to admit China's contribution to developing poorer countries and also developing Xinjiang. They make up fake "human rights abuses" in order to topple a government, just like they did to Iran in the 70s when Iran was nationalizing its oil industry and the west stopped making a profit. The battle between words vs results, Compares to Asian counterpart, Asian is known to be quiet and contented, yet quietly helping and producing prosperity. In Indonesia we have proverbs "Empty can makes the loudest sound", "Like paddy, the more it produces it's rice, the more humble/quiet and lower it's posture". I guess those truly explained it and so does "Silent is golden".

Well, to be fair. You gotta have bite if you’re going to bark. Indonesia never had bites. China thinks they have bite and now do you see how they are acting? No one is stopping anyone from talking loud or barking or saying anything (take Kim un), however, people taking what you’re saying seriously or not is a different question.

    • @the0neObserver

@@TheKingCac That is exactly the opposite of many Asian's view/mindset, if you grow big and strong like an elephant, would a dog's bark and bite matter? Biting/invading another country like iraq, vietnam, afghan etc will never make them ceased to exist, only delaying the inevitable while the one that bites loses it's effectiveness aka toothless. That is the reality now. I have never met anyone especially asian with that kind of mindset to bite other countries, only colonialism. Believe it or not, in the US politics, we all bark and bite internally, we make fake news, over exaggeration of silly things. Thanks to our perfect/balance democratic system, not one high speed train/own space station is going to happen or a notion that everyone deserves food/shelter/equality, bcoz that equals socialism/communism. Teaching our kids that lying is the only way to win everything even a presidency (trump, g santos, boebert and many more). In the end our children, family even our future will only be a lie or liars.Don't hold your breath to see any bite from Indonesia, it's useless.

CNA only talk about the negative of dam. Dam have many benefits. Main benefit is flood control, without which the entire valley including the towns and villages will be flooded. Dams provide water for irrigation of agricultural fields and water to livestock. The most important benefit of dam is to generate green energy through hydoelectric power which is good for the environment as a whole.

I am an engineer, so facts, information, understanding of every factors that contribute to issues and problems and can be solved. There are man made dams as well as dams made by nature thru landslides etc... Time, habitat and nature will evolve when there are changes to the landscape, also as in life everything comes with a price, it is not a zero sum game. It will do well to understand population increase, over-fishing and also how dams flows are regulated and balance to its impact downstream is always a problem and can be fix by making catchment areas in such areas to hold water incase of upstream being restricted or cut off.
The key question that should be ask is there political will and economic muscle to solve such problems. U build a dam u get almost free electricity for the people and u dont expect negatives is plain naive.
Documentary should explore solutions rather than just throw problems and base on one expert keep talking about the problems .......

      What a weak argument.
The trading economic fact is that Western built infrastructure and supplies are not going to be cheap for Africans due to currency exchange value and expertise/manpower cost difference.
The Africans aren’t going to take costlier Western pricing.
Would anyone wanna invest in something that you couldn’t make profit? Some would reply and say China would - yes, if China could not take the profit, it’s State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) taking over the built infrastructure’s ownership.
Also, China also packaged cheap loans on top of those infrastructure projects - in a certain sense, it was an open bribery. The Western countries aren’t going to do the same because it is against their own domestic laws.

It’s amazing that China has leaders who can think and plan long term for huge world-wide projects like the Belt and Road Initiative. And, then, promptly, take the first step ten years ago, on the long and arduous journey to connect China to so many countries in the world. And for its skilled engineers, technicians and workers to work so hard and determinedly to achieve the nation’s goal. The foresight and dedication of its leaders and the unity of their vision is so important. While those of some countries may be preoccupied with greed to make billions in profits or to gain control of the resources of other countries through military wars, China unceasingly focusses on its goals, building infrastructures, ports, airports, cities, hospitals, schools, etc. improving life and connectivity around the world. I’m proud of China and the Chinese people for what they have achieved in just a few short decades and admire the dedication and clarity of vision of their leaders.

If, on the other hand, his earnings are to support a wife, three chilldren and 3 siblings in California, USA, then it would be an insane amount he has to earn due to the very high Cost Of Living there where inflation is running rampant. It is all a matter of perspective and relativity.

I was in Xinjiang last month. Urumqi is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the city that holds the record of being the city remotest from the sea in the world. We had a couple of nights of seafood thinking the fish and crabs come from as far as southern China, but NO. Xinjiang has a thriving fishery industry with fish farms in many lakes, including the spectacular Sayram Lake. With a population of 24 million, Xinjiang is able to supply fish to nearby provinces like Gansu, Qinghai, and Ningxia. Westerners worry about eco. They should go to the Qinghai Tibet plateau to see for themselves how China is doing things there. To the poorer Cambodians and Laotians, having access to cheap electricity is important. Not having power outages is also a luxury for them. Who cares about the fish now? With more technology, fish can be farmed in a new environment for food. Even hybrid rice can be grown. These villagers want a better life and with good infrastructure, their lives will get better with jobs and business opportunities. They don't want to stay poor. The West does not think about this and that is why China is ahead of them cultivating friends from ASEAN to Central Asia and South America to Africa.

All the talk yet again accusing china of debt-trap diplomacy and zero mention of actual debt-traps that's been going on from western entities like the "World Bank" and IMF for many decades. It tries to sound balanced with "it's not really that bad" but the spin from western media's "China Bad" stance is still clearly there. Modern China started helping Africa since the 60s militarily and economically from the 70s. It's not a recent thing and not only due to the BRI. There's a lack of insight to the history of cooperation by not considering factors outside of the scope of the BRI, ignoring it made the video accusing China of doing everything because of the BRI which is not true.

But hey, they're still the good guys because, you know, everything done in the name of democracy is never wrong.

Many Chinese adversaries have tried to counter the BRI. The European Union's Golden Gate and America's Build Back Better policies were all introduced. But the silent China's Belt and Road initiative continues to this day. It can be seen reflected in small African, Central, South and southeast Asian countries, not with big fanfare. Countries with a long-term strategy are comfortable implementing such initiatives. China's greatest success is due to having that strategy. Their policies don't change, and if they do, then countries that depend on China will depend on them again. But in democracies, successive governments have different policies. What have the West help the developing countries develop for decades since the Britten Wood treaty after WWII and their development institutes? Their criticisms are nothing but born out of jealousy rather than genuine concerns for the less-developed countries.

They never show you or ask the local government how they will prevent or solve this problem. They never show you the longterm positive result of the project that has generated to those country/ people/ community vs. to the debt/ or money that was investment. They just rises the issue to the audience and lets audiences feel doubt or questions about it. What’s an easy job!

China's BRI: Belt and Road Initiative
America's BRI: Bomb and Ruin Initiative
China prospered by building infrastructure that lifted hundreds of millions out of poverty. Using this experience, it is doing the same for other countries now with its BRI. If western countries did the same 40 years ago instead of invading other countries and destroying their infrastructure, there would not be millions of economic refugees seeking to get into wealthy counties as they would have no need to. The world would be a much more equal and prosperous place for all.

The US-led West's attitude toward the BRI was different according to the phase of the initiative: In the first two to three years after the BRI was proposed, the West downplayed and looked down on it as they did not believe China could afford to or effectively promote such a huge plan with so many uncertainties and risks. From 2018 to 2019, the West realized the influence and achievements of the BRI, so they started to badmouth and stigmatize the BRI, with the rumors like it being a "debt trap" and a manifestation of "China's neocolonialism

They quickly use media propaganda to brainwash the population. This trick will not work again.😂
