    Nice. Makes it much easier to do vs most cars have front struts so you have to swap the spring over.

      Thank you for your feedback! In this case the car has front suspension torsion system. There shouldn't be any spring at all. Best regards, Autodoc.

    You should warn people to make sure they use an impact wrench to remove the bottom shock bolt. I just sheared the bolt off using a torque wrench - a good way to ruin a day in the garage and eliminate any money I thought I'd save. My car has no rust, so I wasn't expecting that to happen.

      With all due respect, either you were turning the bolt the wrong direction, or the bolt was frozen and going to break anyway (with the quality of german steel that's very, very rare on even older diesel mercedes on suspension parts unless the car has an inordinate amount of rust. The method or tool going the proper direction makes no difference.

      @@davidrosenbloom6652 can i use a regular wrench to remove it? And spraying oil on the bolt so it can get loose?

    when will I know that my shocks need replacing, and how about the torsion bar plate?

    • @autodocuk
      @autodocuk  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the feedback! The car will be unstable on corners, braking distance will increase and there will be extraneous knocking on road roughnesses at strong deterioration. Visually, it will be visible that the oil flows out of the top of the shock absorber. Best Regards, Autodoc

      @@autodocuk It's there all through the video but very obvious at 3:12 behind the guy's shoulders. You can see the arm of the lift pushing the side step up. It's an easy mistake to make but it doesn't have to happen.

    You don't provide the torque specs for tightening the lower bolt of the shock and not only that, i can't believe you're using an impact wrench to tighten it knowing that you will over-tighten.
    The 10x10mm socket screws holding the fender liner can be removed by a power driver saving time.
    Highlight suggest safety goggles due to dust and debris falling from wheel well.

      Thank you for the feedback! This video is considered to be an informative one, it is not a maintenance guide. So this video tutorial only shows the sequence of replacing the shock absorber, without specifying all technical nuances. Best regards, Autodoc.

      respectfully, there is no need to use a torque wrench to tighten a fastening bolt down since the max torque on an impact is about 125 ft lbs and as long as it doesnt come undone it doesnt matter how tight it is. Torque wrenches are for instances where there is a bearing, or the risk of over tightening in say aluminum or another metal is possible because of the size of the bolt, the amount of thread and the likely tightening tool. When simply fastening an unmovable suspension part as long as you are above 75 ft lbs, the approximate torque on a wheel lug nut, and the part itself has no rotation, other than breaking the bolt, torque simply has no bearing on the matter.
