While the stunt work (especially from Cruise) is rightly praised, I think what really makes these action scenes so satisfying is Christopher McQuarrie's direction.
No reliance on confusing shaky camerawork or fast cutting to generate excitement - just superb framing, editing and continuity. He really _shows_ you the action, and you always know exactly what's going on. It's masterful.
Thats because there is no need for a stunt double. Close up shots are possible bcs its really tom who's performing them.
@@adityaadi2116 yes, but I'm not only talking about Cruise's stunts. The stunt work in this movie goes way beyond his involvement. There were dozens of stunt performers, and they did amazing work.

Paris roads never are empty as that, it was a great action movie (one of the best). And Cavill with the mustache is the ice on the cake.

Tom Cruise is small, and we all know it; I never called his ability into question. Henry Cavill is a mastodon of a man standing next to Tom; I didn't imply that it makes him better.
There was no dig. I only gave respects where they were due, to some people who do excellent, skilled work, but never get any recognition for it.
Instead of being pissy and defensive over Tom's size, pay some homage to the people who paint him in such a larger-than-life light.
Get off Tom's lap; he can have anyone he wants on it, and he doesn't want you.

People who watch these Hollywood movies wants the trill ..the stunts ..As you rightly mention no man could even get up after the motorcycle crashed..
It is possible... Because he has guard on knee and his head didn't crashed... I went through a bike accident on 65kmph and I hit 3 times along the bike.. First left side then right side again left side... Then I slipped approx 2 meter... But I stood up and walked... I have an experience of 9 year bike riding..
Similar experience. The speed was 60, and I walked right after. But yes, I still have a shoulder injury after 4.5 yrs that's not healing

The thing that bothers me a lot in this sequence is the sound direction, they fucked it up big time, you have a 2 cyl Boxer sounding like an inline 4 except for 4:18 where you can hear the real sound of the bike, I really like the chase, but it feels off because of the sound, you also can hear shifting gears when cruise is not shifting anything, it doesn't match what you see, maybe it would go unnoticed for people that are not into motorcycles, but it's like watching an old diesel truck that sounds like an F1 , it's not right
That's why it's good to be ignorant. I have no idea what you are talking about & i thoroughly enjoyed the scene (on 1.5x speed) 😂
