- Spirit Of Steam is back, but this time updated to accommodate for the new fancy Train Sim World 3 features...being the only route from TSW2 to be upgraded (excluding SEHS as that's been extended). Lets take a look!

It's amazing how much better the game looks now just from the upgraded sky & lighting, bear in mind that TSW3 is using the same unreal engine version that is used in TSW2.
The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that all of this could have been a update for TSW2, but anyways DTG has done a great job on TSW3 & can't wait to see the future of Train sim world.
Fair enough, one of the reasons it wasn't is because of the decoupling loco/route DLC's etc
if they wanna get a tsw 3 sale out of me im gonna need at least a couple more steamers in the game, loved spirit of steam, need more content for people who arent so fond of diesels and electric locos

Get fond of em bud. We aren’t going back to the past. It’s a great game and all the locomotives have their own feel. I like the steam trains a lot but I love heavy hauling using the diesel electrics
It is looking really nice. I do enjoy the updated visuals and some changes being made although I do have a couple of nitpicks that I hope get addressed, and one of them you have mentioned is adding coal in the shovel as the fireman or firewoman is shoveling the coal in the firebox. The other nitpick is the whistle. It sounds good until it is held down for long periods of time. I wish the chime of the whistle was a lot clearer and it didn't sound like the pipes are clogged all the time as there is more squeak than there is sound, fairly inaccurate whistle as there should be little to no squeak in the beginning and then you should be able to hear the chime of the whistle clearly. It is not the most pleasing of sounds in my humble opinion. Other than that, it looks and sounds great.

Really? I'm very disappointed honestly. I was expecting so much better for TWS steam. When will get better effects, realistic effects of a steam engine? All seems very rushed. I'm not sure devs even listen to the communities. We get it, you can model a train. But, where is the attention to the immersive details that really bring you into the simulation/game? All they need to do is what real steam train videos. Notice the sounds, the water, the steam, the smoke details, dark, black, grey, white, and add proper particle emitters. This just drives ME NUTS as I know they have the ability to extend the 'hang' and size of the emitters. So, why stick with the same old lame and cheesy 1990's level effects?
@@Curious_Skeptic Yeah it's just not completely up to par, I mean don't get me wrong when it comes to the look of the locomotive and the smoke and steam coming out, they pretty much got that part down, but for the sound effects, not quite. There is a game that was just released on consoles called Train Life a railway simulator and it got the Orient Express steam locomotive, and I will tell you this for a game not trying to be a fully immersive simulation and having a locomotive that is also not quite perfect...yet; That steam engine has a way better whistle and even by extension I'd say a better chuffing sound than the Jubilees have.
Look up any Black LMS Jubilee whistle video and none of them will sound as awfully chocked up as Train sim world whistle does and it boggles the mind how they have not bothered to fix that, yet they go ahead and fix the horns on other locomotives and make them sound better.
@@frozone-yeah I'll check out the other things you reference. When I look at a game like Red Dead 2 simulation of a train, I realize what we could and should have in any modern day sim. Yet, here we are. It's know that immersive is just a few tweaks away by the devs, yet they never put that extra effort to get there! So frustrating when there are ENDLESS reference videos for them for every engine known to mankind a click away. Not sure if they are lazy, assume it's good enough, or just don't care.
Sounds and effects are actually more important to me personally. If the sim isn't immersive, it's not really a sim. It's more of a game. Good talk :) Thanks.
@@Curious_Skeptic Yes precisely I knew I wasn't the only one thinking this. I myself am a sucker for good quality sound in video games and I would dare say I'd put them over graphics for what matters most in games because if the sound quality sucks then I don't care how good the game looks, but the game also sucks as well. Feels more mediocre when the sound quality is subpar, so I mean more effort should at least be put into the sound quality of the game if nothing else. Do you not think it's about time a software company brought out a model railway set, with British steam trains so you can build the train set yourself or use ready made layouts, with the modern graphics now the game would much better, Hornby Virtual Railway was very good with a good selection of trains but the graphics were poor

Because it's not included in the Standard Edition.....
because deluxe editions of games usually have most if not all that games dlcs included in them

Oh wow, just not what I was hoping for. Missing 'steam' of the steam train. Looks like smoke/steam effects from 20 years ago! Certainly not what one might expect in 2022 title. Another hard pass on TSW until they decide to put an actual effort into the details.

@@TheBritishAce actually , it isn't as bad as i make it sound. Just upset I have to pay for yet another version of the same game. I will say, sounds are really bad. Whistle sounds like a kids toy. Smoke was okay. I realize some videos are bring put on youtube with low settings i guess.
I totally agree looks the same as train sim to me I regards to the engine
