    Great tip. Heat guns are super useful. I use mine to light my BBQ. I buy regular old fashioned charcoal with no accelerant and in 5 minutes i have a fire. In 10 minutes it's ready to cook, with no gas or paper or fighting.
    I never thought about heating baits with my heat gun. But I saw some guys heating and repairing torn baits with a lighter by heating and re sticking them. Maybe a heat gun would do that job too.

    The thing about boiling them is you can do a bunch at once.
    Also repack with with some worm oil in the bag that is what some manufacturers use and it helps them from sticking to each other causing kinks.

    Great tip Matt!! I opened a bag of flukes this morning and two of them were deformed. I remembered this video and used a hair dryer since I don't have a heat gun and...Presto!!!... Straight flukes!!! Thanks man!!!

    Great tip Matt.. Have you ever tried a pot of boiling water? We used use this for deformed Blowgun cones. 15 seconds in boiling water and then into a bowl of ice water to set the cone. I bet it would work for soft plastics. Just would have to experiment with the time.

    I saw a video that said you should never take plastics out of the package. I realize there are some you should probably not and then you have to be careful not to mix (eleztek) plastics. Would love to hear about when you can and can't put plastics in the plastic tackle case.

    Fantastic results!!! I always go thru the Zoom pks on the rack and pick the Straightest ones I can find and pick out the longest tail ones and bent ones out and put them in separate pks, the long tails I use for tournaments and deal with the bent ones later by leaving in the sun

    Probably doesn’t work as well as a heat gun but I’ve had some luck laying them on a cookie sheet out in the sun. It works in the summer, not sure about the winter though.

    A dirty desk or workbench means your doing things! A clean bench or desk usually means someone's not working on or completing anything, no matter how big, small or important it is. A heat gun is a great idea I always just used hot water from microwave then placed my baits in after to soak & go back to shape

      @woosa42 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MattStefanFishing - Thank you for replying, but I meant after you fix them. If I fix them and put them back into their bag they will get deformed again. My only option is to put them into a Plano box which causes tackle bag issues with the extra room it will require. I fish most of the time from the bank.

    Interesting. I wonder if that would work with Zman plastic. I use the boil method for regular plastic but it only half way works on Zman. I can tell you NEVER try to boil Gulp though. It will melt.

    Matt, 1/2 of my finesse TRD's have a curve right out of the ZMan package. Will this work on those? Will I burn my hand trying to straighten a 2 3/4" bait with a heat gun? Can Elaztech baits, specifically the Finesse TRD's be straightened? Thanks!

      @@MattStefanFishing yeah, it's a great tip! Some folks boil them too long and then don't lay them out straight to dry. One tip that I would add is to allow them 48 hours of dry time, laid straight on a paper towel. Then sprinkle table salt on them. It will keep them from binding together, help them dry and remove the tackiness from the baits.

    I have a small microwave that I use for making soft plastics. I lay it on the glass plate and do 30 seconds at a time and that usually does the trick. I need to make sure I keep an eye on it though. Otherwise I'm pulling melted goop off that plate and it stinks!
