At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

This is not only a lesson in basic mechanics, but a great lesson for those of us mechanically inclined but like to turn that stressed part of our brains off when fishing to relax. Thanks, Matt... it seems obvious to you, but it triggers math to be done at a desk for the rest us that really don't want to do head math while fishing and enjoying special days fishing.

Great tip Matt! Another thing I started doing that helps keep the trailer on is using a Wacky ring over the head of the trailer placed in front of the wire. It works great on creature type baits rigged texas rig using an offset hook as well. In that case, you place the ring in front of where the hook comes out of bait.

Love this channel and constant value add tips!! I'm all for saving bait cost for sure! One method I employ to lock them on a long time is... wrap the shank with unwaxed dental floss and tie a few simple knots. When you slide the bait on, put a few drops of super glue on the floss and push the bait on, giving a strong lock between the two. I cut my lead bumps off before doing the floss method, but you can decide for yourself. The smaller the bait and hook the more important my floss/glue method becomes.

That's a great tip! I didn't know that one. What I always do is pinch the tip of the bait and pull it up and over the keeper, then I'll press the bait up against the hook shank and sort of press it down into the keeper until the keeper or wire pokes a little bit out of the plastic. That always held the bait good and snug for me.
Also - Congrats on 50K!! I remember back when you only had about as many subs as I do, lol!

💡Eureka!!! You've got it Matt!!! Very clever.
Do you think this is necessary with Elaztech? For Elaztech and wire keepers I slide the trailer down the hook to the keeper, then I pinch the Elaztech and pull it way up away from the hook shank as I pull the bait over the wire keeper. Then I finally squish the Elaztech down onto the wire keeper to poke the wire keeper into place.

I never do wire keepers unless I’m using elaztech. Everything else gets a screw lock keeper tied onto the shank of the hook, even if it means clipping any existing wire keeper. My go to screw lock making tool that I use with 0.020” stainless wire is a 1/8” diameter 1.5” long Hillman tension pin (Lowe’s). I won’t put a Keitech on without a screw lock. It just works too well.

Congratulations on reaching 50k subs, you deserve it and more.
I just saw this same tip from the Salt Strong guys. A drop of super glue will make a soft plastic stay on a jig or whatever a lot better but I don't bother unless I'm using Z Man soft plastics because the little fish steal the tails of regular plastics so they're not going to last long. Sometimes one cast is all I get before a ribbon fish cuts my jig tail.

Then I noticed I was down to my last rage swimmer and I wanted more casts out of it so threaded it on like your showed the turned it 90degrees and over the keeper . The Rage swimmer lasted me 50 casts.
