  • On this episode we will be taking a closer look at our 1967 Jeep M715 5/4 ton weapons carrier. This vehicle is an older restoration that won a Gold Medal at the MVPA Nationals in 2011.

I've seen surplus grenade shift knobs in the Quadratec catalog back in the early 2000s. I'm not sure if they still sell them since I haven't looked in years.

The Eight Ball shifter in mine, I made from a real eight ball that was drilled and a nut was epoxied into it.

I love how nice you have restored your M715. I have a 1967 also but mine is done up as a seabees truck. The Vietnam veteran who I bought it from was in the seabees and he restored this one with the same numbers that were on the truck he was assigned to. What I need is some measurements for the shovel since I can't find one. I don't know how you take out the cozy windows if you could show that in a video that would be great.

The shovel is the military standard pioneering shovel and is just a few inches shorter than most commercially available D handle shovels. But should be easy to track down from most of the military vehicle surplus dealers. Try Midwest Military or Memphis Equipment, you might have to call them instead of checking their websites. As for a video on how to remove the cozy windows, check out this video from my series, th-cam.com/video/BYHV7qqUSyw/w-d-xo.html Although it doesn't show how to take them off, it does show putting them back on which should be easy to see how to reverse the process to take them off. Congrats on a SEABEE truck, as I have seen several in my searches and they usually look great with the yellow SEABEE logo on the door.

Grrat restoration. Did you restore the radios too?
If you have your amateur radio license you can operate those in 50-54MHz.

Yes I did restore the RT524 back to working condition after it was demiled. I had to import some crystals from a country that still uses the 524, plus some parts I was able to source here in the US. I don't have my license, but there is really no one in my area to communicate with anyway, so I mainly have it restored for at shows so that people can see that it still works.

Do they have a LED light to go in those tail lights?

I'm not sure, they would need to be rated for 24v. I just use the standard 24v bulbs in mine.

Thanks, a lot would depend on the condition of the vehicle and what you want out of it. Full factory restoration or a motorpool ready restoration.

I've seen his video on M715's. He does get a few facts incorrect, but it is nice to see the collections of others.

@@bigfoot4444 I don't think he really sells any parts. There are several good parts vendors across the internet that I use for parts when I'm restoring these trucks.
