My compliments to you as a parent. Teaching your son self-sufficiency along with the skill sets that he has shown is outstanding. What a wonderful memory he will take with him into adulthood!
Most of the people don`t realise how much work it takes to restore a car. If you a not a professional, it takes 5 to 10 times longer. You`ve tried very hard to do it, so much so, even your little dog wanted to help you. Keep on learning & evolving, kid. Some day you will have your own garage, restoring precious jewels from the past. I don`t want to guess about you, kid, but, your Jeep, will survive WWIII. For sure. Congrats!
My uncle J. A.ROMERO ,who just passed away two weeks ago drove one of these in the korean WAR(not conflict).thanks for the timely tribute.God Bless. on behalf of the Romero family.t. breneiser, nephew
That was the most memorizing video I've ever watched! Well done as a backyard mechanic who's restored a 1956 series 1 and a 1965 series 2A Land Rover I appreciate the work you've done! I hope to have room again one day to restore an old Willys to The Desert Rats configuration complete with sand ladders and expansion tank bolted to the front grill! Who knows maybe even the machine gun mounted in the back :-) unfortunately war-era Willy's are pretty rare up here in Canada Land Rovers a little bit more common because we use them in the Forestry Department!
I watched the full video and I think this is the most inspiring thing in the Utube community given your age, skills and focus by taking the time to film every step of the project ( mostly) I can only say that your hard work and passion resulted in a great piece of restoration. If that Willy could talk it wound be screaming " Hurrah "
It's very inspiring to watch you young fellows get these old Jeeps running again. Who says all young people want to do is play video games. Great Job!!!
Only one words...awesome...I am also restoring my Toyota FJ-40 my self, not quite done yet...you are inspiring so much to keep doing my FJ. Hopefully, she will comes out nice like your Willys...Great Job
Excellent restoration, the jeep was beautiful, for sure you will not have fun as before, wherever you went anywhere, but the service was worth it, and whoever did not like it is because they never had a jeep, and jeep is like that, it is to use and like it, it's a car that you never forget, big hug.
G'day. that was awesome mate. I'm guessing i'm at least twice your age, almost 3 time's maybe. You've just inspired me to break down my 1978 G 60 Patrol and do a proper restoration job on her. Good on ya. You will go far in life with the attitude you have, Your old man must be dam proud, he did an awesome job raising ya to be the man that u are. :)
Nice restoration! I was never a jeep fan until i seen a group of stock jeep willys go thru the rubicon trail. These vintage jeep willys are a true rock crawling 4x4 and i cant wait get one.
Young man...you did one hell of a job...congratz on giving new life to the old girl. One thing I have always wanted is an old Willys Jeep...I guess it's just not meant to be...no $$$ and now medically retired...lol I hope you have a great day & be safe.
Hey dude, fantastic job! After owning 12 Jeeps of all sorts, I finally got my hands on one of my dream rigs- a 47 cj2a. I too am going to have to do a full tear down, but your video is quite inspiring. For a young guy, you did an amazing job, seriously. But more to the point; thank you, for still after all that hard work, taking it out, and wheeling it, and HAVING FUN! Too often these rigs are restored, and kept on a plinth. Its great to see someone enjoying the fruits of their labor from the drivers seat, and not a lawn chair staring at it in a car show somewhere. Props.
Yep, pretty amazing that you took it out into the mud, to have fun, breaking it in. The big part of it, was hearing the awesome engine sounds, as it was, powering through the mud. Just hearing it, powering through the mud, was a big WOW.
really appreciate your work. This is really how it is restored. On TV we see people who take a Ford 32 cut it up and put a new 650-inch engine on it. It's not like that. I like to see it as fresh from the factory. Good job.
WOW you have built some thing on my bucket list. I would get one of these before I got any other car or truck. You are very lucky and your hard work paid off in spades.
Great video bro.. Im glad you didn't spend your time playing video games like most kids and accomplished a great feat and took pride in your work and the thought process to accomplish this ...Your an example to us all.... 👍👍👍
I know this was some time ago but only just appeared on my search etc. But had to say what a fantastic achievement, full credit to you, it's just awesome - well done, hope it still lives on! 👍
I have to admit I watch the whole video, and was very entertained. You did a great job on the WWII Willies Jeep. I tip my hat to sir. Great job, even though you threw it into the mud again. LOL
The disc brake would help the willeys jeep brake, a big plus. great job.😆 Well done, mate. You have a lot of good friends to help you out at different points of project.
happy to see your work.last year i also repainted my jeep by a paint shop in india.but now i feel that doing self paint is attach you with your project.thanks
My cousin was in the motor pool in the Alabama National Guard. He said that in the late 70s, while a new building was being built on a base he was on, the contractor was digging and discovered several long buried and forgotten MB Willys Jeeps in crates. They were fully disassembled and packed in cosmoline. He said they base mechanics spent a year assembling them. I don't know for sure if it's true, but it sounded neat.
I love that as soon as it's restored you turn right back around and rip it in the snow, climb mounds of dirt, thrash through deep mud, and actually use it. The finished project is beautiful, very well done, but it would mean nothing to me if you didn't abuse it.
I have a 53 willies cj3 that used to be my grandfathers, plan on doing the same thing but returning it to its civilian colors and making it look factory fresh.
great job.. i grew up with a 43 willys MB. mom and dad never let me take it apart like you did. i actually do that to cars now.. glad you went to front disc.. hopefully you will find a dual system master cylinder for it to make it even safer to drive.. find some super magnets.. nickle or quarter sized and place them inside the fuel tank down in a corner.. it will keep the sediment out of the fuel system , fuel pump and carb. when you drove out of the garage the first time it was kinda stumbling.. you might want to look up a carb manual.. i don't know which of the carter carbs you have.. and closely examine your low speed circuit.. also known as the idle transition circuit. something is not quite right there. idle transition circuit supplies fuel to the idle mixture needle. but also to the idle transition slot .. and is the only fuel coming into the motor till the primary circuit starts flowing out of the booster nozzles at around 1800 RPM. then it decreases till it stops flowing for the most part around 2400 or 2500 rpm.. really nice work .. oh.. you should see if you can add some shims under the head light hinge plates to bring the headlights centered thru the grill. they are too low and don't look as good as they should. i was also thinking back to the A team tv show... they never reloaded their guns either.. just sprayed and sprayed and sprayed.. blanks ..not primer and paint like you did..
Great video on a great job. I love these WW2 Vets and hope one day to get a 1944 Willys and restore it in the markings of my late fathers Bomber Group (464th). When I get it, I will contact you about restoring it for me. I know it will look great. Thanks for sharing.
Very Nice!!! You did a great job. I would love to have one of those parked next to my TJ. Maybe I should add it to my bucket list! You should be proud of yourself.
The Willys is the best car 4X4 ever made in USA. Where a goat can go, the Willys can go more easily, i like so very much this car, i had one, and i'm sure i'll have one other later. Yours is wonderfull after restoration. Good job. I guess you have change the gearbox for a little bigger no ???
Wow--beating it, then a full restore and then taking it off-road again. Brave individuals but I commend them for doing so. Would be hard for me to take it off-road again after that long, arduous & expensive restoration. Ask me how I know? Regardless--Love it!!
My compliments to you as a parent. Teaching your son self-sufficiency along with the skill sets that he has shown is outstanding. What a wonderful memory he will take with him into adulthood!
Video like this I like. No clickbait, no cheezy music, no misleading. Simple and fun to watch

Great job. I'm glad you still "drive it like you stole it". Those jeeps weren't made to be babied. What an improvement a grille swap makes. :)
You are the first people in history to get a Willys stuck in the mud multiple times. Yet each time your driving improved an so did your confidence.

It's fantastic to see you use the jeep as it was meant to be used and not as a "showpiece" that just sits there. AWESOME JOB!!
if only more younger people were like you. great job. : )
I'm 17 and I'm slowly restoring a 1994 Jeep Wrangler YJ that didn't run and I got it up and running and slowly repainting the jeep
Well said 👍
CHARLES YORK that is totally true 👍
CHARLES YORK Exactly. If more young people had the money and the resources they would do something like this.
U act like people can afford this shit this kid rich af so quit blaming younger people for being lazy when they aint nothing to do

Finally someone put together a video where I didn't have to fast forward to the good parts. Every shot was a good part! Nice job man!. :)
Nice job well done! My brother has a 1942 model, we both went in it to Normandy last June for the 75th D-Day anniversary!
Fantastic vehicle.......

One of the best parts about this is that not only does it look great, but its been driven how it was meant to be driven. Not locked up in some garage.
