It's too difficult to get permission to shoot grey squirrels. I shoot an air rifle really well at the range and would love to chip in with the grey squirrel cull, but it seems so difficult having to find who owns land and knocking on their door. More often than not it's more difficult than some might imagine.
I shot 246 Grey's in 4 years off my 1.1 acres. The songbirds are back and the trees are slowly recovering. It was a completely unmanaged area and trees have so many limbs missing from the bark chewing it looked like a right disaster zone. The only good grey squirrel is a dead one.
At 1:12 good idea but in my opinion it's better to do what I've done. Just fit a couple of battery operated beam alarms. If you set them at the correct hight they don't pick up most cats. But pick up most foxes. They just sound like a door bell chime. Or you can set them to alarm mode. They are very cheap. And have volume control. 👍
The gravy made from fried squirrel drippings is the best tasting IMHO. It is followed by rabbit, chicken, and sausage in that order, again IMHO. Good luck, and good tasting.
I applaud his efforts, but the likelihood of reintroducing native squirrels in the face of Greys? You have to go to Scotland to find what's left of the Reds. But, 12/10 nonetheless.
Don't think it makes a difference to the animals. I baited one and was successful and then I sat it on the path open and unbaited while I went to get my dinner and then went back out to clean it off only to find another inside. I think it was the smell of the first guest that attracted the second.
Great channel but bin the love island lad off, I presume you are sticking with him as his family own half of Cornwall and you have more shooting/filming opportunities?
Thanks. Actually, owning lots of land is a reason not to stick with him. People don't warm to the entitled. Plus he has rather less ground to shoot over than most professionals can call on. We like him because he knows his stuff, we think he expresses it well, he is a sporting agent so there's a strong sense of ';you can do this, too', and it helps that he has a huge following on Instagram. His films with us are popular / Charlie
Fieldsports Channel Charlie, usually agree with everything you say on here and content is usually spot on, but you’ve got this one wrong, just comes across as doing what he wants on his parents land and calling it a job, Do you really think his Instagram followers are fieldsports fans ?. Average love island fan is not going to be keen on what we do are they ?
I received my T-shirt last week thank you. Unfortunately my financial support for now will have to go to the CCFR in Canada to fight our idiot PM and his nonsensical ban on over 1500 firearms that are used by sportsmen and women in Canada.
If it ain't eating your chickens it's out eating wild birds, over populated mesopredator. They need controlling wether they are causing damage to you or not.
So easy to watch Paul, he knows so much about deer hunting, great going lads
Thanks Charlie and crew, I loved it!..... Best thing on my screen all week.
If everyone knew how good grey squirrel tastes, they'd be on the endangered species list within 2 years.

Great looking timber on the shotgun stock!

Lots of reds in Ynys Mon (Anglesey) where greys I believe have been eradicated
@@paulbryan1013 Hello mate, guessing that's been an uphill task?
For trapping greys would a covered live cage trap be better than an uncovered one?
Thanks for this. It's worth experimenting. / Charlie
I've always covered mine , but for me it's more to hide them from people.
