Neil Peart's influences are Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Ginger Baker, Willie Wilcox, Keith Moon, Bill Bruford, Phil Collins, Billy Cobham, Mitch Mitchell, and Stewart Copeland.
@@SattzFF, I forgot to mention Graham Lear, who used to play with Santana. Hey Sattz, if you want a treat, check out Neil Peart's original live drum solo from 1976. Rush's 1st live album is "All the World's a Stage" and Neil has a solo at the end of the Working Man/Finding My Way medley. Check it out! It's audio only, per the CD. No video but the audio is AWESOME! Neil was a fierce 20-something at that time and he crushes that solo! It made him famous.
Not sure but i think Neil is thinking about the next leg of his motorcycle journey, he always admitted that the only reason he played live was to pay for gas between concerts. That or what he was going to cook when he finally got home to his family. These guys were family men being separated from their loved ones for way to long at a time. By the way, these solos were actually written, each tour, he would change them up but every concert on that tour, the solo would be identical, he was a total professional.

Neil was one of the greats. In the top 1% club. When a percussionist is in that group there is not "a best" drummer. Just different styles, ideas and abilities.

At the beginning of the solo, you can see the exit plainly. You can see Neil's right knee and that is the entrance/exit. Of course once the drum kit rotates the exit is to his left and behind him. On another note, at about the 4:00 mark, he is playing a tom and hitting a note on the malletkat, with his right hand, and he is not looking at it at all!
Thanks for watching!
You ask all the right questions. Good job my friend!

Ok
Sometimes when I hear the roar of thunder, I wonder if it’s Neil up in the heavens doing a drum solo!
Neil Peart's influences are Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Ginger Baker, Willie Wilcox, Keith Moon, Bill Bruford, Phil Collins, Billy Cobham, Mitch Mitchell, and Stewart Copeland.
I can see why he became such a good drummer

Unparalleled, best percussionist to have ever lived.
This is honestly a ridiculous comment.

Cool that you are get the Rush experience. The xylaphone looking instrument is called a malletkat

Interesting, I've heard of TOOL but never listened to it so this might be a good chance to do it, thanks for the suggestion
I would say his influences are Keith Moon from The Who and Buddy Rich
I can see why, he's a pretty good drummer and influenced others himself
Q: 🤔 "What do 🎛️ Drum Machines want to be they grow up?"

Maybe the best drummer ever
He wrote this for the kids and instructors to use as a teaching aid.
Interesting, must be fun to play, thanks for watching
Neil is very jazz influenced!
Sadly, in his later years his body was wearing out from playing at this level!
It's unfortunate but he did everything he could, RIP
He's more of a percussionist than anything else

I'll show it to her and maybe record her reaction depending on circumstances
My big question is how does he get in and of that drum kit?
Maybe he's a part of the drums lol

He isn’t in the top 200 drummers lol😅
Hey dude. Have your GF sit on on the reaction. Shes a drummer!
Maybe in the future, depends on circumstances but sure!
