The best Ironstone is from England. Martha Stewart made Ironstone popular about 20 years ago. She liked to display her pieces with the hallmark showing...the various English hallmarks are very interesting.

Not all Ironstone says Ironstone and it can come from all over. There is also a lot of fake Ironstone, especially, but not always, if it is dated. The thick Ironstone is made for railroad use. English is older and more blueish undertone. The American made is creamier white.
