Something I think is important to note is that Japan tends to play/experiment with the new cards when they come out, so we see a huge spike in people playing “the best deck” before things stabilize and they go back to playing other decks. I do think LKM will be powerful but ngl it seems like it loses to bottom decking (the funny dragon) and bounce (the blue dog). So I think we’ll be fine
My little rat brain has been racking trying to think of what funny dragon is without looking it up lmfao but I totally agree, for as much as I hyped it up in the vid I'm often first to bring to attention JP has nowhere near the sheer AMOUNT of players experimenting across every region to get a real sample size and data set about BDIF. Not to even mention they play best of 1's which heavily impacts their data even if they did have a large sample size
I ain't saying I disagree but I think a lot of people who enjoyed the yellow Lordknightmon back in bt5 will disagree with ya haha. Also as a DarkKnight stan I gotta stand on business and say it's a black deck with a purple black boss
Totally for it! But I think some people get upset when a card like magna x is a defensive super strong blocker but because it has "unaffected by effects" that's just taking it "too far" for some people, which I disagree with, how many blockers have we seen be dog awful because they're so easy to play around 🤷♂️
@@DigiDane0 it should have been "unaffected by digimon efects", weak to options is not a bad thing and leaves fair counterplay outside colision and raid
@@DigiDane0 immune to everything is toxic, i think immune to certain type of cards/effects are better(Tyrant, Dorugora, Ragnar) and more healthy for the game.
Silver lining; hopefully this’ll make them drop Purple as LKM’s secondary color that it never should’ve had, and it turns into the Yellow/Black deck it should’ve been.
I definitely need to do more testing, but I feel like this isn't a great example of power creep in digimon, especially considering that it uses the same bottom end as a current meta deck (levia x) and plays almost identical to the best deck of the format during nationals 2023 (anubis). Full power anubis and this LKM feel like about the same power level with anubis having a little more defense and LKM having more offense. Some of the current decks in the meta can handle LKM pretty well in the same way they handle levia. Dexdoru taunting especially can wipe basically the whole board, which LKM is particularly vulnerable to when their playstyle is very much putting guys on the board to progress the game state. LKM looks good, but I'm not expecting it to be a dominate force.
Yea I think by the end I had talked myself down a fair bit from the ledge for sure, plus more testing has led me down that route but all in all I just wanted to have a yap about the card, had a friend remind me it plays super similar to exactly Levia X just different deletion. Again I don't really like using the words power creep cause I'm not a huge fan of the fear it incites, just didn't have other words to explain myself in the moment haha
My biggest issue with LKMX is the fact that it prevents digivolution. Im strongly disliking the direction the game is going, and I think this interaction is the best example as to why. I want to play the game. I want my opponent to play the game. This is why I stopped playing magic and yugioh. Is the card overpowered? Not at all. Is it fun to play against? Not at all. It's not always about what is strong. It's about what is fun to play. LKMX prevents me from playing the game, which is not fun to me.
@@shelbyramin1376 you can do what we're doing at my locals because we're all sick of it too. We do pauper and we're doing Digimon Commander. If I had to guess as to why they made Lordknightmon purple, it's to mirror Dynasmon and connect to Lucemon because of Frontier. Those two being the Royal Knights that served Lucemon (being Purple/Yellow), and so they each have a color of his in purple and yellow. Hell, that's probably partially why bt19 Lordknightmon can play any level 4 or lower so that you can evolve it onto Chaos Mode and play back the level 3 Lucemon. I'm still gonna play it in Darkknightmon, but I will admit they did a good job connecting it to multiple decks. It's just a shame purple is just a chimera of good and abusable cards.
Interesting to hear! I Love when people tell me how cards are lore accurate because I think that's one of the big reasons I love this game so much is that when I love a deck a lot I can often also attribute it's style of play to the digimon itself, for example Bloomlord literally feels like you're trying to grow a swarming forest worth of Digimon by playing out so many little dudes that all help one another to make something big!
Archetype.... The card is Anubis 2.0... the only knightmon in text cards in the deck it's played in is just purple value.dek. Also, going into normal Lordknightmon means the deck doesn't need to pass turn, especially with Proto Form. They played something by effect which means memory gain in purple. value. Another card that halts the game I'm seeing the deck run is LadyDevimon X which spawns another body while giving a self-destruction to a Digimon. What's setup? You need De-Digivolve immunity to setup!
I think if they had made the new LordKnight stuff pure black like they should have in the first place this deck would be merely okay. It should not have gotten access to generic purple good stuff cards.
I totally agree that it would be pretty normal if it was just a black card but for as much of my whining I do like that it's almost a bit generic in the sense that it can be played to full potential rather than being another nothing archetype with not enough support
Think LKMx eats Omni Ace too. Just have to make sure you can get into LKMx without passing turn. Use the no digivolve effect on any hardplayed 6s and then clear them with collision.
For me the most annoying is evo lock after de-digivolution this guaranty you opponent can't set up ace to counter your lordknight x "except you have digimon with protection again other digimon effect like green insect or ragnalordmon".
I mean for the most part if they're dedigi in turn and stopping your Evo they're almost always just gonna be clearing the board anyways but if you wanted a way to set up ace to fuck with the deck grandgale is a sure shot by becoming unaffected by effects 😅
The thing that I don’t get is that whenever I hear people hyping up this deck the thing that seems craziest to them is that it can do 4 checks early in the game. Sure that’s impressive but it’s what decks playing the same dark animal engine already do like fenri and levi. I genuinely don’t believe lordknight is so far above those decks in power level especially when we’ve only got like 1 week of results reported where the deck has performed. Open to discussion though
If we're talking about cards that are oppressive... I'm voting for the upcoming EX08 set with MedievalGallantmon It's a Level 6 No-Ace Digimon that has Alliance and Vortex, it suspends ANY Digimon from the field for low Play Cost reduction and every time a Digimon is played you "may" delete an 8k Digimon and increase to 3k for each suspended Digimon We are talking about a highly oppressive Card both in Attack (by Alliance and Vortex) and in defense (by eliminating any Digimon Searcher that is played on the Field or by Scrambles) and that, being Green/Red, can evolve to the ACEs of Imperialdramon and Crimson Mode For me, it's at the Apocalymon BT15 Level. Because by just having MedievalGallantmon on the field, it screws up all the Decks that play Digimon by effect, those with mechanical DigiXros, those that play by DNA and every card that is a Digimon Searcher (+Scrambles). It practically leaves no interaction between players
