  • This may be our favorite new product in 2021! We test a lot of products on Travels with Delaney each year but this one really has caught our attention. The Icy Breeze is a an American made cooler that holds 30 pounds of ice but it is so much more than just a cooler. It doubles as an air conditioner. Using special technology developed by the people at Icy Breeze, it takes the ice cold water from the the bottom of the cooler and circulates up to a series of coils and then back down into the cooler just as a traditional AC would do with freon. A fan with 3 settings blows the cold air on to you either through the vent or you can detach the flexible hose to direct the cold air where ever you want. You may be skeptical at first but this AWESOME cooler will totally exceed your expectations.
    This is NOT a sponsored or paid ad. We paid full price for the cooler and just wanted to review it.

    Great product review!!! We appreciate customers like you!! We are proudly made in the USA and offer a lifetime warranty -your fault or ours.
    A few questions I see popping up are ice questions and salt. Please do not put salt in the unit. It’s not good for the pump. You could put salt into an icyblock or milk jug to keep your blocks of ice colder as long as the salt stays in a container of some sort.
    How long will the ice last? That’s a tough question to answer because there are so many different factors. That’s like asking what is the mpg on your car. Are you on the highway, in the city, racing everyone around town? Are you running it high, what kind of ice are you using, do you have drinks and stuff in it? Those things seem small, but they change the run time by 50%. Some ice at the store is almost melting when you get it while other ice is frozen solid with lots of energy left. To give you a general answer I would say you can expect 2-3 hours of very cold air and then it will gradually increase until the water is not only out of ice, but the water is no longer cool. That takes care of what most people need it for. If you want longer run times you can simply throw in another bag of ice when you need it or use larger blocks of ice like frozen water bottles or our IcyBlock. That will double the run time generally. Ice is a LOT cheaper than gas. Even if you had a loud generator running to run an AC you will still use gas. Everything uses something for energy. The IcyBreeze is designed to be portable, quiet, and very effective without a power source. It uses ice, so that is the small trade off. There is no other product on the market in the world that does what it does. Also keep in mind it is a great fan blowing hard air just like any fan you might try to plug-in and use. So, even if you run out of ice it is still an effective cooling source. I hope this info helps.

      Its a swamp cooler. It doesnt remove humidity from the space. Sooooo, there are plenty of units that work the same. Just because you add a heat exchanger doesnt change the fact that your condensate is recirculated.

    • @waywardwhippets2555
      @waywardwhippets2555 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a Swamp Cooler.
      The IcyBreeze does not create humidity. The condensation goes back in to the cooler. Unlike a swamp cooler that uses the water to evaporate to cool the environment.
      The IcyBreeze is forced cold air.

    • @lukem7464
      @lukem7464 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@waywardwhippets2555 exactly, the condensate is going into the cooler. Guess what also is not isolated from the cooler? The airstream. The condensate moisture will be reintroduced to the space.

    I started RV transport late last fall and have built a nice bed in the back seat of my F350. I didn't idle my truck all night this past winter as I have a good sleeping bag and enjoy sleeping cold. Now I'm trying to figure out something for the spring and summer/hot weather. How do you think it would work in a crew cab truck in the summer after the sun goes down? I have the reflective shades for my windows too. If the truck is cooled off good with the a/c then turn the icy breeze on and go to bed--do you think one could stay comfortable for the night? It probably compares in size to the tear drop you mentioned. Probably using block ice most of the time too and it would pull double duty for drinks and lunch meat as well.

    Seems what’s old is new again. Engineering is interesting that way although swamp coolers work great for garages and large open areas. In the early days of produce and meat transport before refrigeration units insulated train cars and semi trailers used a system similar to this. The technology worked when, for example trucks, would stop for fuel or food at a truck stop they would pay a guy to shovel ice into a compartment on top of the trailer a gas engine used to power a fan system would circulate the cold air inside the trailer keeping perishable food cold until getting to the warehouse.

    It doesn’t matter weather or not it works if the company that produces it takes no responsibility for their actions! They admitted that their computer screwed up my order and caused me many problems at my bank including overdraft fees and I was told to go pound sand. If they have no problem screwing you from the start, do you really think they are going to stand behind a lifetime warranty? I don’t. I received mine a couple days ago and it doesn’t work as well as they state. It’s going back. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

      Does a swamp cooler have coils that cold water is circulated through like Freon? Asking for a friend.....

    • @lukem7464
      @lukem7464 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TravelswithDelaney the coil with water circulating through gives the ILLUSION that it is not a swamp cooler.
      So, the moisture from the space you are trying to condition condenses onto that coil (heat exchanger). The condensate then drips into the cooler below. Then, as air is circulated, the condensate can be picked back up and reintroduced to the "conditioned" space. This is why the humidity remains high. The condensate is NOT effectively isolated or removed from the space(i.e. conventional AC).
      Therefore, it is a swamp cooler. A swamp cooler with some smoke and mirrors, marketing, and more moving parts. Still gonna be a sticky mess.

      @@lukem7464 Thank you for clarifying. We ran it this weekend for over two hours in the trailer and the humidity according to our Waggle Pet Monitor showed only a 4% increase. It does exactly what we need it to do when we are off grid.

      @@TravelswithDelaney so, it added humidity. I dont know about you, but removing humidity actually makes it more comfortable in summer. Depends on your climate...if you are in a low humidity region, the swamp cooler may be ok. Nevertheless, this unit does not remove humidity...so the owner is false advertising it as similar to an "AC unit".

      @@lukem7464 If we see humidity is an issue, we may get a small dehumidifier to use. So far, the cooler is working great for our needs. Its well built and comes with a lifetime warranty so we are very happy with it. I honestly don't care what they call it, it does what we want it to do. Its nice to have really cold air blowing on us when we don't have power and the RV is 80 degrees inside.
