- Testing out the IcyBreeze portable "air conditioner" in my pick up truck on a sunny day with no AC.

I have had an Icybreeze for 3 years.
I really like it but you have to understand what this is.
It will not cool a room.
You need to have it constantly blowing on you and it will cool you off.
The ice will melt in a few hours.
The more water you have on the bottom the longer the ice will last.
Also, you can freeze your own blocks of ice to make it last longer.
I have uses this in my truck driving 200 miles in the middle of the day with the sun blaring on me and 92 degrees outside.
Holding the vent in front of my face while driving I was able to not sweat for the first two hours.
@@kriskeilman2087 thanks for sharing your tips and experience with it
The owner said in a video to stand those icy blocks on their side and fill water ¾ of the way up. So a lot more water than u have in there. Maybe it will help maybe not
Add ice when you use the icybreeze blocks. It’s more effective that way and will really help bring the temperature down.
Cool. I’ll give that a shot. How much ice do you use and how long does it last?
@@jamesgu4417 add just enough ice to cover the icybreeze blocks
Thats what I needed to know... although I would like to see a comparison in performance between the ice blocks and actual ice cubes in the cooler.
I was about to order it but nevermind
😂😂😂😂😂. Dam I already purchased one.
@@Bama7530me too well let see how it is if not up to what the video I see then it going back
Would love to hear if you have a better go at it!
Getting a dedicated freezer for the back room. Will use freezer in summer months to freeze gallons of water jugs and smaller bottles and some regular old freeze packs and use solar charged battery to run cooler. Can run freezer often with other solar battery so I wont be using grid power much for that. Switch jugs during the day to keep it going cold and strong. Reviews seem great provided you use constant ice cold water and keep it as cold as can be for as long as you can. Large frozen jugs take much longer to melt. I could supplement house ac sometmes for good spot cooling and to use in the classic car. I'll put it on the passenger or rear floor and just shoot the air right on me. Should work for that, and would seem great at a long red light in the middle of the summer. I think I'll get one.
What size solar panels do you have? You have them on your roof or the smaller portable units?
@@AGuThing Thanks for asking! Have a 1000w ecoflow lifepo4 solar generator with 2000w smart battery that I charge with a 400w allpowers portable solar panel. Also have 1500w and 300w allpowers units. I put the panel on patio in the sun and run line inside while charging the units. The fan on the icybreeze doesn't draw power worth worrying about, just want to run the freezer with the battery to save a few bucks on electric.
Forgot to mention that I'll use the little 300w unit to run it in the car.
@@Michael-lq8isThanks. Sounds like a legit setup! I need to do more research on solar.
Game changer now I'm looking at a cool boss coolee (look it up). Just found yesterday online didn't know of it before. Definitely more expensive but has 2 outlets 2 fans and double size radiator I could g.a.s. about the blue tooth speakers as 2 outlets is a game changer. Same size as icybreeze but more $$$ but comes with absolutely everything like 2 batteries chargers wall plugs and built in solar for under 600.
On their site they said this was used for the US open and Olympics. Curious what the use case was if it doesn’t even cool the inside of a car. 😅
I really can’t imagine!
😂😂😂
These will never work apart from just blowing a little cool air directly on you. 10 pounds of ice has 1,440 BTUs of cooling capacity. A typical vehicle AC has an output of about 15,000 BTUs per hour. Essentially, you would have to melt an entire cooler of ice every 5 minutes to cool down a car effectively.
Great breakdown and explanation. Thank you!
I had high hopes for it and was about to pull the trigger, but after watching a bunch of videos, it isn't going to work for me.
@@drjd2real yeah. The math just doesn’t add up.
Ordered 1 yesterday may return it if it isn’t up to snuff
It Could not even COOL DOWN MY 22 FT. WINNEBAGO.. VERY DISAPPOINTING
@@keithfernandez8965 yeah. It was completely useless for me too
