    Purchased: August 2022 - still works GREAT! th-cam.com/users/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn I live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install.This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment.I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

    Good review. Thanks for the honesty. You actually talked me out of buying one with this review. It seems like a well made product but there is a limit to the efficiency of this design. For $350 I can buy a small window AC unit from Lowes ($150) and pay the remaining $200 towards a 2000 watt mini generator, which $200 would be 1/2 the price of that. I need something for cooling my roof top tent and I believe I can get better efficiency and not have to make daily / twice daily ice runs. Plus I would have the additional benefit of having a generator for whatever I needed for a couple hundred dollars more.

      @@ladyblackhorse9104 No, this is for my overlanding camper trailer so I will be transporting it to a campsite with power hookups readily available instead of driving into town daily to replenish the ice that this unit will consume. I ordered the platinum version couple weeks ago. Talk about a life saver. Yeah, you can make 1 yourself but I can make 10 times the money I paid in the time it would take me to build it. People spend $400-$600 + on Yeti coolers and they DON’T DO THIS. When it’s 100 degrees outside in Louisiana it’s really nice to cozy up to some cool air. That’s the real purpose of this thing. I don’t believe it was ever intended to replace an air conditioner but it comes damn close when you’re outside or at the beach. If it fits your budget give it a whirl. I’m glad I did for sure.

      Using a couple wires with alligator clips, any large battery could probably make the fan in this unit work. The battery doesn't need to be an exact size fit or voltage match. I run the headlight of my minibike with an 18 volt drill battery using wires and alligator clips. I've got a set of motorcycle batteries that were supposed to run my electric scooter...same thing...just attach wires and alligator clips and it runs other things besides the scooter.

    This is why I am so glad I have an education in engineering. Always remember that energy cannot me created or destroyed. This product looks brilliant to me but that’s just because I know how energy works. I was already aware that cooling the hot air around you comes at the expense of the ice in the cooler. So you obviously need to load it up with as much solid ice as possible, but also, that you are done when all the ice is melted and the water is at ambient temperature. Longevity is directly proportional to the weight of the water you freeze. Also, think of it this way - turning this thing on is actually worse than leaving your cooler WIDE OPEN. How long does your ice last if your cooler is wide open? Now cut that in half. That’s all the time you have with this. Lastly, ice can be expensive. You may not realize this, but putting a bunch of gallons of water in your freezer can be expensive. But maybe this is worth it. Hope that helped.

    They claim ice last up to 7 day without using the fan have you test their claim I just recently bought the platinum edition don’t know if I have a defected one but ice only last about 4 hr in 70degree weather it might have to do with the lid not having a seal

    • @E85_STI
      @E85_STI 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 12 volt cigarette lighter cord is on low 1.3 amp medium 2.1 and high is about 3.1 amps. On their site of course but once I get mine I can throw my meter on to see. Also for the battery slot you mentioned I would 3D print a cover and make it flat. I make my own ice blocks so I’m hoping that lasts longer than ice cubes.

    I made a homemade version of this (without the evaporator) from a 5 gallon pail to blow in the sleeping area of our pop-up camper. I think this would even more effective for the same use. BUT, for the same money, one could buy a 5000 BTU window unit and run an air hose into the camper and not have to make ice.

    Ok this comment is for ones who 1) dont mind spending money and 2) want a device that blows cold air! NOT cool a room… NOT replace an A/C system… NOT cool down a family of 10 on a 120 degree day! This device blows cold air on you PERIOD… Thats it! If that is what you want, an air conduit directed on you that cools you down, that is what this is… Nothing more nothing less… If it cools a small area then you have very welcoming circumstances for that to happen… Yes if you only use small chunks of ice your ice will melt super fast… Thats science! If you use big solid blocks of ice it lasts longer… If you use ice packs with ice blocks topped off with ice then WHOA! Even longer… If you want something different that will accomplish more then get something different that accomplishes more! For the price you can definitely get a black and decker ac unit that will cool a small room… Again that is not what this is for… Would it be nice if it was cheaper?? Well DUH! So would gas, eggs and car insurance… Oh and it is loud…

    Its not an air conditioner, air conditioners remove moisture from the air which removes the warmth….they need an external vent and drain…these are swamp coolers…they blow air across a cold wet surface. Not at all the same but still nice in the heat

      It depends how big the cab is. Our 4 runner has a big cab so it struggled but we put the hose blowing directly on us and that worked better at keeping us cool..If you are going to have it in the back seat I would suggest getting the golf cart extra hoses that can put the air directly on you.

    Is this a swamp cooler? Does it add moisture to a small room or Van?

    • @markbajek2541
      @markbajek2541 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not supposed to add moisture due to the heat exchanger condensing the air and having it drip into the cooler. But it's not going to cool a large area, even the promotional videos mostly say to blow it on your body , up your shirt stuff like that. Maybe if you were seated in a very small enclosed insulated space it would drop the temp in the enclosure and not add much moisture to the air.

    • @TesSheen
      @TesSheen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Blows cool dry air. Moisture stays in the cooler.

    I want to get your opinion if I invest in the Platinum version or the V2 and of course go with your recommendations to avoid the cons do you think it would be a great investment for a small traveling trailer that is a size of 17 ft? Because I'm looking for something to help keep the trailer cool the entire hot Texas heat day also this is a trailer I am going to be living in

    • @JohnDavis-yz9nq
      @JohnDavis-yz9nq 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This jackass didn’t answer your question. Too busy smacking is lips like all through the video I guess. I will help answer your question. Absolutely it will not cool your small travel trailer here in Texas in the summertime. My advice to you is put a small window air conditioner in. A 5000 or 6000 btu will absolutely cool your camper. This icy breeze at best may cool your face if you are very close to it. Besides who wants to be buying ice and dealing with draining the water everyday.

    • @charlesruffing5606
      @charlesruffing5606 2 ปีที่แล้ว
