"Just because you have a large aquarium doesn't mean you have to stock it with large fish." 100%!! To me, a large school of tetras in a six foot planted tank is about as stunning as you can get. It's also closer to what you'd actually see in the wild. Well done! I look forward to seeing this tank mature and fill in.
This is very much a dream tanks of mine. Mentioned it to my wife and she said then why don’t you do it? My room is limited and would have to lose probably a couple smaller tanks. But my mind is racing.
Gonna have to sort of disagree. Can lots of nano fish in a very large tank make for a good display? I guess so. Is it the best way to go? Not really, in my opinion. I've kept CPDs in a 35-gallon planted tank. Wasn't really worth it visually or financially. Besides not schooling, their colors don't pop in an aquarium meant to be viewed from across a room. Visually, they just don't scale well. How many tetras and kuhlis did Jason put in this tank? And they all just went into hiding or or hung out in the corner, right? He might have a nice-looking tank, but it's the hardscape and plants doing the heavy lifting. If it were my project, in a tank this size, I would have gone with fish at least molly or giant danio size.
I love my kuhli loaches as a beginner freshwater fish keeper! They are awesome bottom dwellers in my nano community and so entertaining! Keeping the overhead light off when i’m not actively observing the tank at home has helped them grow confidence quickly. My honey gourami is more elusive
There's not many big fish that I like so when I see a big tank, It always makes me want a big tank full of small fish and shrimp, so I love this tank. looks super good and all the space gives the fish much more room to show their natural behaviors.
Looks great! My brother has a 55 and he has a bunch of small schooling fish. Small tetras and rasboras, etc. And it's a very cool setup to watch especially during feeding time.
Wow love this idea. It looks great. I like your approach of slowly adding fish to let the tank build up the beneficial bacteria. You can put a ton of nano fish in a 125! Looking forward to,the finished product.
The tank looks beautiful, I love the ‘scape. I love larger groups of smaller fish in big tanks. I can’t wait to see what else you add. Great tank! Thank you.
My 75 is giant for the space I have. I have three Pearl Gouramis, but everyone else are tetras, rasboras, khulis, Cory's, and stuff like that. Love having half 6 to 10 of each fish with a dozen types. So nice to see all those little guys living well. And ask are peaceful community!
The wood in the tank is awesome! The scape looks like those that long time aquascapers would do. I love idea of this tank with lots of nano fish. Also, I can't wait to see how it looks once the plants fill in more. Great job! Gina
I love the idea of a huge tank full of tiny fish. I also prefer smaller fish (no bigger than 6 inches) for my tanks regardless of tank size cuz you can fit more fish lol. My future plans involve just having three or four 125+ gallon tanks : 1 for regular community fish that grow no larger than 6 inches, 1 for nanos, 1 for African cichlids, and 1 for a couple oscars.
Good job! The tank looks great. I can't wait to see it fully stocked. One day I would love to have just 125 gallon tanks. I know one would house my Shellies and rock dwellers, another my Oscars, and the third would be a nano fish tank.
If I were ever able to get a 125 I would most likely do a nano community set-up. I just like the variety you can do and the smaller species are just cute. Part of me is a little creeped out by the larger breeds. Beautiful to see in other people's tanks but not sure I would want to work with them myself. Though I may one day want to try the smaller cichlids too.
So jealous. Wish I had space for a 125G. I'm also a fan of using a large group of smaller fish. Love using crypts...they're damn near bulletproof. Great 'scape, guys!
Beautifully designed 125 & I know you want to keep it light with fish but 8-10 Hillstream loaches in there with the rocks & wood is ideal breeding conditions plus temp. It's a stunner ❤
Jason, So you have a Gi Nano. Hehe. Awesome you can put a lot of nano fish in a 125 gal. Sweet tank and fish. Never heard of the red Tetras you put in there. ❤
Love the tank build and fish. I have a nearly empty 75gal tank now that I am trying to decide what to add to it. Currently has an albino pleco and two skunk cory cats and that's it. May need to try this route.
The aquarium looks great. I am looking forward to seeing it mature. I like the idea of keeping small fish in a relatively larger space. I have over 50 Least Killifish in a planted 20 tall. They calmly shoal about and don't look crowded.
This will look terrific once established! There's something with having large tank with lot of small fish, lot of activity and interesting behavior. There was a competition tank which was about half the size (250 l or 55 gallons) and the owner went with red rock (local sourced) Iwagumi with large school of Least Rasboras (one of the smallest nano fish there are). My 160l / 42 gallon planted tank is packed with tetra, blue eyes and Nanus corries, with 3 dwarf gourami being the only fish above an inch in length.
Nice scape guys!! But Joanna I think a few more plants would make it pop. Maybe some Trident Java Ferns stuck in some of that wood. Can't wait to see what other fish you picked to put in the tank.
Hey guys. I love nano fish. And I'm Im a greenwater member. I really have to work up the courage to say hi to you guys next time I see you at the swaps. I was right in front of you at the members auction.💚💚💚
My literal dream! I'm a nano fish fanatic who does nano tanks only due to health issues. But that huge tank right there, full of beautiful small-ish fish (I guess I'm a nano nano fish fan as the bristle nose and loaches seem big to me😂), that's my dream!! ✌️
The hard scape looks perfectly fine. Don't be afraid of "being an aquascaper" and just enjoy that process and creative exercise. It is your art in your vision, just leave it at that! But... Jason! Please check out the masters series videos by Filipe Oliveira on green aqua channel. He is the type of person, similar to ratatouille of "everyone can cook" and explaining that sentiment in terms of aquascaping. He will call anyone from the crowd to plant the tank with him and it's just something where it will give you that mentor experience and comfort for that next challenge. Don't be afraid of it. Nike it. Just do it.
Where I live the tank size is limited to 10 gallons. I cheat and have a 15 , all nano fish, so seeing this is what I wish I could do. I like it. My scape is a rock wall , with caves and holes, placed against plexiglass which is placed against the rear glass first, so as not to scratch the real panel with rocks. Fairly heavy with plants. Besides the benefits, unless fish dictate otherwise, no tank is complete without plants. I'll be watching for the addition of more fish.
Don't mind me, Jason had me singing in the beginning 🎶 Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got, we're still gluing wood in this block" 😂😂 ¤ QUESTION ¤ where did you say that substrate was from? It was catching my eye the entire time, I'm glad you mentioned it towards the end. ❤ you both always blow my mind with your scape and stock teamwork! Enjoy the rest of the weekend and stay warm. It's all 🥶🥶🥶 in Brookfield
Love your guys video I have a 10g with 5 harleyquin rasboras and a nerite snail. Want to upgrade them to a 20g. Would you recommend a 20 high or 20 long, will be adding a honey gourami too. Nice cherry tetras btw!
this is my plan when I get a 125, nano fish. My largest now is a 40 breeder with green neons, cardinals, diamond tetras, norman lampeyes, kuhlis, and a red bristlenose
I love it! I miss my 70 gallon aquarium sooo much , I would do something simular but need to know how Joanna glued the wood down to stop from floating! Please comment on what glue she used ecetera
I have a 55. I have about 15 neon tetras, 6 black skirts, 5 cherry barbs, 4 blue wag platys, 1 bristlenose, a couple of mystery snails, 3 dwarf gouramis, and 2 platinum gouramis. Am I overstocked when they get bigger? I always had the intention of getting more tanks and maybe dividing, but I like the activity right now. I am going to get more tanks at petco today so I will divide if necessary. what do you think? Also, any of those need a bigger school? I had a few die offs....
God I'm envious! I have 10 nano tanks and a 25g with schools of very small fish- CPDs, kubotai rasboras, hummingbird tetras and pygmy Cory's. I would love to do this, but I would collapse the flooring in my ancient house. Please do show us updates and additions to it.

Hi Jason - I love your videos!! I have a 40 gallon aquascape that's heavily planted. It's been running for a month now. I thought my tank was cycled. Testing showed 0PPM Amonia, 0PPM Nitrite and .25 of Nitrate. I'm running a Biomaster 350 (Thermo). Last Friday I added 8 Celestial Pearl Danios and 6 Amano Shrimp (drip aclaimation). I wish I'd watched your video on adding fish first - ugh. Saturday morning I woke up to .50 PPM Amonia. I did a 50% water change, added a double dose of prime and 2 oz of TurboStart. All 8 of the CPD's died by Saturday night. The fish seemed very young - I'm not a beginner. My question is - is my BioMaster 350 too much flow for these tiny Nano Fish? I'd welcome your insights .... I'm so sad.
I don’t think so if the tank is heavily planted they should have places to go to get out of the flow. Generally speaking they prefer calmer water though.
Are you going to add shrimp? I’m apparently converting my 90G-goldfish to a 90G-nano tank. Goldfish had to be moved-out, now it only has 11-guppies/tetras, a bristlenose, & 4-SAEs. At some point, a duckweed-dump from the shrimp tank included a shrimp who evaded the goldfish. Now I have scores of shrimp & just one particularly fat tetra. I think as the tetras and guppies age-out, I’ll get even smaller nano-fish, but I’m loving my nano-fish tank.
BIG FISH are very costly to feed.. Where small fish will eat very small flakes that are cheap... Also big fish require massive filtration to keep the water clean.. Electricity costs are also high to run big filter pumps... Small fish are great for those who are on a budget.
A bit early IMHO to add fish. I like to at least let the bubbles leave the water column, 48 hours or so. The tetra looks so sad hiding in the corner. The wood looks like upside-down roots. I know the big name aquascapers inspired this tank, it just does not do it for me. (like anyone cares) I have loved your channel over the last couple of years, so thanks for that. This build just leaves me feeling empty.

My mentality exactly , all my 30+ g tanks have small fish

Thank you!
This is like Rachel O’Leary’s “75-gallon nano!” Love it
The aquarium looks gorgeous. Wood, rocks, and the plants are just beautiful! Great Job both of you!
Thank you!
Our boy Jason is quite😮 the scraper!! Great job! This is so exciting. Going to be so much fun to follow. Thanks! 3:24 3:28
Fantastic looking tank! I love large tanks with lots of smaller fish, and that scape is perfect for this kind of setup. Great job!
The wood in the tank is awesome! The scape looks like those that long time aquascapers would do. I love idea of this tank with lots of nano fish. Also, I can't wait to see how it looks once the plants fill in more. Great job! Gina
Yay, giant nano tank! I love it! Love the scape, looking forward to the 2024 gallery!
Great setup! Great husband and wife team in sync with one another's thoughts.

This is a dream tank for me! I would like a huge nano tank one day. Looks amazing. I can't wait to see everything grow in and with more fish!
I love this concept. I can't wait to see updates on this tank. I love a big tanks with nano fish.
Update will be coming soon!

Love the red fishes oooh crystal clear water, so lovely
I really like the way things are coming together. Beautiful and uncluttered. :)
The aquascape looks awesome! Can't wait to see the plants grow out!
I like the way you did the brick in the background
Thank you!
Been wanting to have a giant tank with nano fish. Congratulations! I wish for more updates for this tank.
So jealous. Wish I had space for a 125G. I'm also a fan of using a large group of smaller fish. Love using crypts...they're damn near bulletproof. Great 'scape, guys!

Looking forward to seeing an update on this tank!
Wow I absolutely love the wood in the rocks
Id love to see more of these. I am in the planning process to convert my 75 gal native tank to this type of tank.
Jason,
So you have a Gi Nano. Hehe. Awesome you can put a lot of nano fish in a 125 gal. Sweet tank and fish. Never heard of the red Tetras you put in there. ❤
Love it and I'm in the middle of setting up a giant nano tank 100g with lots of plants and loads of little fish 😊
Have fun!

You guys are awesome, thanks for letting me live my aquatic dreams through you.
Thank you for being here!
When I owned my two pet shops, the number one fish people wanted to give me for free were Oscars.
Good idea with schools of small fish
I love this scape. Good job Joanna
Except I actually did this one. Haha

Such a great tank. Love a big tank, with a lot of small fish.
THIS!!! I only ever do nano fish, so yeah, this would be my dream aquarium!!!
Oh my goodness! It's beautiful!

We will be there next time!
The tank is looking good. I look forward to seeing t mature.
Thank you!
I really like this “Spider Forest” 🕷
Looking forward to see it grow up.
Maybe a small group of Apistogramma?
Those Super Reds will eventually wear the crown for biggest fish but thos3twtras... wow!!! 😍
Yep 😀
Love it! I've been considering a large tank full of nano fish 😊 I have a 75 that I need to reset and this is giving me ideas
That would be cool!
My literal dream! I'm a nano fish fanatic who does nano tanks only due to health issues. But that huge tank right there, full of beautiful small-ish fish (I guess I'm a nano nano fish fan as the bristle nose and loaches seem big to me😂), that's my dream!! ✌️

I love this tank. 👍
What a great idea. It’s kind of a dream concept tank. Nice scape
Thank you!
Awesome video guys.its always a blessing to see you both together . Great information videos.
Thank you!
Looks fantastic!!!
Nano cichlids would be really cool!
I love it!! Please add green neon tetras, like a bunch of them!!
Great, if Joanna sees this she’s going to give me an “I told you so”! 😀
Really love the tank!!!
Thank you!
I put 3 shorter blades on my 125 I like that they make shimmer lines and their color is a little cooler by default
Very cool!
You should add some moss to this tank it looks epic though , i love it
You must be so chuffed with the results so far in your room rescape, I bet you just want it finished now!
Very soon!
Wood is beautiful - well done
Nice setup. Now you’ll have to show us all your tanks. I hope it turns out well.
That’ll be coming soon!
This is my dream tank. I love nano fish l!
GREAT tank! Love that you did a 125-gallon Nano tank! Rare to see. Tell me about your background and how did you attach it?
It’s just painted with acrylic paint. I’ll have a short out on how I did it this week!
Awesome tank, love it. I e had issues with wood floating also. Didn't glue it down. Should have. With what aquarium sealer ? I love Cooley loaches. 💪
The hard scape looks perfectly fine. Don't be afraid of "being an aquascaper" and just enjoy that process and creative exercise. It is your art in your vision, just leave it at that!

Oh I have one of those, epic tank but it really only shines for rarer species... And some neons
Nice job, guys! Look forward to the progress. See ya at the next swap I'm sure :)

We used Red Flint from Zooxae Fish Store!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics thank you! I spelled the store completely wrong.
I have 2 ember tetras in my 50 g along with other fish. But I love there red color
Love your guys video I have a 10g with 5 harleyquin rasboras and a nerite snail. Want to upgrade them to a 20g. Would you recommend a 20 high or 20 long, will be adding a honey gourami too. Nice cherry tetras btw!
It's horrible...... horribly gorgeous. Great job, and It's educational, showing us not to immediately stock your giant nano tank.
Thank you!
this is my plan when I get a 125, nano fish. My largest now is a 40 breeder with green neons, cardinals, diamond tetras, norman lampeyes, kuhlis, and a red bristlenose
Y'all stay warm up there !
HAPPY SUNDAY !
I love it! I miss my 70 gallon aquarium sooo much , I would do something simular but need to know how Joanna glued the wood down to stop from floating! Please comment on what glue she used ecetera
Just regular super glue.
I have a 55. I have about 15 neon tetras, 6 black skirts, 5 cherry barbs, 4 blue wag platys, 1 bristlenose, a couple of mystery snails, 3 dwarf gouramis, and 2 platinum gouramis. I am going to get more tanks at petco today so I will divide if necessary. what do you think? Also, any of those need a bigger school? I had a few die offs....
The number of fish is ok, but you may run into issues with the gouramis fighting?
@@PrimeTimeAquatics ok. So far so good but I'll watch the gouramis. Thanks!
Love it
Looks great. Love the name "Giant Nano" Great oxymoron, like "Jumbo Shrimp" and "Paper Towel." lol
Your wood looks great!
....let me rephrase that
God I'm envious! I have 10 nano tanks and a 25g with schools of very small fish- CPDs, kubotai rasboras, hummingbird tetras and pygmy Cory's. I would love to do this, but I would collapse the flooring in my ancient house. Please do show us updates and additions to it.
Will do!
Wow! Amazing! Is this Spider wood?
Yes it is!
I did not even know these red sherry tetra existed. Exactly what I been looking for. Going to see if my LFS has em right now. Do they fin nip?
They are peaceful but extremely difficult to find and usually very expensive. Well worth it though.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics yeah, my LFS never heard of em lol
I have 190litre tank desperately needing driftwood where do you get a lot of it cheap ?
Outside of nature it’s usually not cheap. Haha. Flip Aquatics is a good source. We also have local swaps that sell it cheap.
Add some White clouds !
I love the wood scape! Is that something you bought locally or online? If online I would love to know the source as I need to get some of that kind too. Thanks!
The wood is actually 6 different pieces that I arranged.
I love nano fish in big tanks
Can you tell me length, height and width of the aquarium plz?
Roughly 72 x 18.5 x 23
Hi Jason - I love your videos!! I have a 40 gallon aquascape that's heavily planted. It's been running for a month now. I thought my tank was cycled. Yes! Probably some Amano shrimp at some point.
what kind of wood is that?
Spider wood…I think 😀
I can't believe "my boy Jason" is using cannister filters 😂
I know, I know. 😀
The Cherry Tetras look a lot like Serpae Tetras without the black markings.

We got it from a lfs. Zooxae
Ok what does nano mean. My guess? Smaller fish?
Yes it does!
I like your channel but this is reposted from 3 years ago with new title and cover picture
Nope - brand new tank
Yall ain’t playin around wow

A bit early IMHO to add fish. I like to at least let the bubbles leave the water column, 48 hours or so. The tetra looks so sad hiding in the corner. The wood looks like upside-down roots.
