What was going on during this OST? the greatest Air to Air battle in Ace combat history ^^. ISAF Satellites were shot out of orbit by the Stonehenge turret network and for a successful Invasion to retake the mainland the ISAF had to launch a new Recon satellite, Erusea responded by sending in many Air to Air fighters to take Air superiority above the Comona Islands rocket base and faced off against the ISAF Air force defending the air space, in the end ISAF successfully launched the satellite and wold eventually retake the mainland.

Regarding songs that has vocals, a great video game song that I would suggest you could react to is "Ridge Racer Type 4 - One More Win" It has amazing vocals, lyrics, and very funky beats. The composers reached up to the heavens and channelled God on this one! The game that pulled me into a world I wanted to be in since Top Gun. Still makes my bike rides feel bad ass
Note that the composer for this track is Tetsukazu Nakanishi, not Keiki Kobayashi. Most of the Ace Combat soundtracks have multiple composers, so it's important to check the composer info for specific tracks, not just the album info.
the mission this plays in is pretty much a filler mission. All of the sickest tracks are in tedious/boring filler missions (probably to make them playable). Some other amazing (half-)filler mission tracks are Blockade (ace combat 4), Rendezvous (ace combat 5) and Ice cage (ace combat 5). Some amazing not so filler mission tracks are White bird part 2 (ace combat 5) and The journey home (ace combat 5). The journey home is also a song, so there's some singing for you to listen to like you suggested.
"I wonder what's going on in game here?" My brother in Christ, one of the best dogfights there's ever been, fiction or otherwise.

In that same vein, Nassault uses DCS (and a bit of ARMA) to make Ace Combat music videos, one of which is Comona.
If you do another AC zero song you’ll probably like mayhem just for the cowbell if not Reprisal or supercircus from AC 5

This ain't no filler mission. It's a furball aka the best missions
