Wonderful devices - I have three original 400x decks and all still work. The 4000 in particular is a fantastic design and massively engineered. It is a joy to use and to listen to.
I have a Beogram TX and a Beogram 8000. Are you guys going to be making cartridges again? THe MMC and the MC20-CL? I know Sound Smith makes them but is B&O going to start manufacturing them again?
Funny. I was just contemplating getting the old one in the attict the other day. I hope the belt still works. I should have a couple original pickups some where too
I'm impressed this look is from 1972. As a child in the eighties, I remember seeing similar (probably inferior) designs in mail order catalogues, thinking they looked futuristic.
If only I could afford this turntable, probably the best there is today. Beautiful design, great video, and wonderful products. I hope this means B&O will get back into producing turntables with more models, larger production runs, and lower prices, and also making more spare parts and cartridges for existing models of turntables they made in the past, it is becoming harder and more expensive to buy an ever decreasing supply of replacement parts and cartridges for these amazing B&O machines. Also, their recievers, CD players, sound systems, and more were pheonomenal back in the day, but is this not true for all of their products?
Do you want great sound??? If you do then do not buy the bang and Olufsen. For 10000 € you can buy Rega planer 8, and a good riaa amp. The Rega will be much much better than the bang and Olufsen. I have to thank B&O - because of the launch of 95 of these €10000 refurbished decks, I decided to start reselling ClearAudio Record Decks; the performance of these high-end decks far exceeds the Beogram 4000c with a SoundSmith cartridge, at a fraction of the price.
These are sold used and in very good condition through out the world. They are no exeption in Denmark or in ebay. Only thing you must think of is the stylus. This sucker can be repaired and still expensive. I can imagine that if you have 600-700 dollars you can purchace a beogram 4000 with a dine stylus. By the way, some people were extremely cautious and treated the 4000 like an art object. Which it is.
Very nice, but I just spend 175,- Euro for a complete revision of my Beogram 1203 and it works like a charm again. I am very & truly happy, but when my SP 14 needle runs down in a few years I am also in big trouble. So be nice and go supply affordable replacement again until we old geezers are all gone. It's just 10 or 20 or 30 years! 😉
I have restored a 4002 with new bearings, belts, and pullies. Completely refurbished and calibrated. Looks and plays fantastic. Message me if you would like to buy it. $3k...not $11k...
Bang & Olufsen has always made their own cartridges. They offered 5 different models of cartridges for this unit depending on your budget. I still have my original B & O Turntable. I bought it brand new in 1979 and had it completely refurbished at Bang & Olufsen 5 years ago. I wouldn't trade it for any other turntable.

I remember this turntable as a gimmick for the 1970s jet set. In parallel high performance designs came from Linn, Thorens, Oracle, SME, Rega, etc. B&O never made actual audiophile gear. Along with Braun it's been a leader in industrial design and lifestyle products that blend well into the home and provide a flattering user experience, but to a few exceptions (like the extravagant Beolab 90) it's never been a parangon of superlative audio. The price-to-performance ratio places the company into the ostentatious luxury arena. Meanwhile several audio engineering breakthroughs have come from a diverse and healthy Danish audio industry. Makes you wonder why B&O seems uninterested in reference parts from OEM vendors Jantzen, Scanspeak, Dynaudio, Purifi, et al. and why would one pay so much primarily for good looks and not so much for performance. This realm is dying fast : Today with a pair of well-designed active speakers, you pretty much get everything you need; just connect your smartphone, or computer - some designs even integrate the streamer, room correction DSP, wireless multizone support and so forth - all in slick industrial design that also exhibiting great craftsmanship. If this post seems offensive, it's meant to remind you guys that your thinking needs to evolve. Look at formely prestigious brands like BMW, with zero growth; meanwhile Tesla can't produce fast enough. If you married your first-rate sense of industrial design with truly superlative audio performance, robust mechanical design (sorry, that's always been a weak point of yours) AND realistic pricing, you'd be selling like hot cakes, and not just to Rolex-set poseurs.
Ouch! - but mostly correct (including the Tesla comparison...). I guess it depends how much profit they're making per unit - a low volume, high margin can probably survive in this sector, unlike the automotive sector.
Talking shit mate. While they might not be AudioFool, B*O has innovated in many respects and produce very natural sound. Every cartridge came with its own frequency chart, and the engineering that went into the 4000 that was not advertised was just incredible. They also invented HXPro, sold it to Dolby. That changed cassette deck recordings for so many. They might not be to everyone's tastes but as a small company, they innovated and produced tech way ahead of their time... Did I mention they also have the worlds largest private speaker-test chamber? Not impressed with this makeover personally though. Asking a lot and not even replacing the control board with a more modern design, platter wasn't level in the above video and they do not address a major issue with the 400x series which is strain to the keys when repeated pressing over years but hey ho..
@@vitorinomadeira5456 B&O have made some superb pieces. The Beolab 5000 system was professional standard with the tuner being used in many broadcast studios. Yes, but they are 40/50 years old now... So they would need a service... but the design and quality of these machines are superb and have stood the test of time....
The reason why Bang & Olufsen turntables are bad is that they no longer make replacement parts for the older turn tables. The turntables are made to work only with proprietary cartridge and stylus, which are impossible to find as new.
Too bad the control panel isn't that of the 4000, it's the later design of the 4002/4004. The original was much better looking, more fun to operate & more futuristic in design.

The end of the ad is a disservice to the product... ... Sounds like the LP was just taken out of a trash can. I think any person spending that ammount of money on a turntable would play records in better cleaness.

Sad my less old Beosound 1 is not that timeless. The CD’s laser did not work any longer and the service refused to repair the product because it was discontinued. That's the company policy, they said.

Very nice, I have a 4000 and 4002, but be honest here, how many of you all will pay £10,000 of yr hard earned cash on one?.. At this price they are footballer type things, sort of HiFi Arm Candy for those who will never appreciate the engineering which went into the originals or these new ones. Something to show off to their other footballer mates whilst snorting cocaine .. Sad really.
Much too complex and finicky and the end result was a turntable that didn't sound that great. It's greatest weakness was too lean a bass and a rather bright tonal signature due to a platter that is too light and rings like a bell The table was quite prone to breakdown and then find someone capable of repairing it. The best sounding turntables (and most durable) are simple, yet elegant in design and solid and rigid in construction. Linn, Thorens, Ariston, AR and others of that ilk actually sounded better, more musical, extracting more info from the grooves in listening comparisons.
Now that's how you do a B&O advert, stunning! That actually gave me goosebumps! John.

Mama Mia.
It looks stunning but I am sure they have added a PCB with bunch of 'digital' components that you will never find spares to have it repaired in 5 to 10 years, as all other B&O devices.
Anyone know the music they used in this video
Hi Robert,
Thank you for reaching out. The music is a combination of multiple elements and tracks. It has been mixed specifically for this video.

呜呜呜我一定买!
Worth it €10000? I don’t think so.
I went to the B&O store and asked about the price tag. The clerk told me they are sold out.
Guuuuuuuuauauaua.
When Bno were cutting edge
Now remake the beosystem 8000 with modern guts , a true high end statement of intent
The amount of time/money my uncle has spent getting B&O items of his repaired by B&O is enough for me to stay away.
Yes, but they are 40/50 years old now... So they would need a service... but the design and quality of these machines are superb and have stood the test of time....
@@dead_formats Totally understandable on an old machine but most of the required repairs have been on newer items from 2010+
@@dead_formats It is not in the age,it it is a quality thing, nice design, but not the quality to match the design and especially the price
@@dead_formats It costs pennies to get a Technics of the same vintage back in service. B&O were about design, not functionality or reliability.
I really wish I have the money for it🙏🏻🙏🏻 because all i have from B&O is stolen by movers and i always love it

It was all grand until the stylus descended onto the turntable at speed and then landed with a loud click- ouch!! I expected a gentler descent.
The reason why Bang & Olufsen turntables are bad is that they no longer make replacement parts for the older turn tables. The turntables are made to work only with proprietary cartridge and stylus, which are impossible to find as new.
oh.. please🥺🥺🥺

9000 Euro?,think i can get a much better turntable for this price...

Excellent ad for a design masterpiece but mediocre sounding turntable (even then) . But at the end what's that with the click and the pop? WTF B&O? Do you really think that playing vinyl is about that?

75000 danish kroner?????
What the fuck. It must be a bad joke.
Rega planer 3 will sound better, and that cost 6000 danish kroner.
10Κ? Not even B&O. There are beasts greatly superior out there with the same pricetag
Records are very tactile , physically and aurally .
But ultimately a bad way to engineer music .
Goodbye life savings!

Form over function.
