Steve from Sounds Heavenly guides you through a private tour of the new B&O historic product collection at the B&O factory in Struer, Denmark. This is a former private collection which includes hundreds of rare items that span almost 100 years of B&O history. The full range of cables to connect B&O products old and new can be seen on Steve's website here: soundsheavenly.com If these videos have helped you to enjoy your Bang and Olufsen products, please consider buying Steve a coffee at www.buymeacoffee.com/soundsheavenly - many thanks!
Having owned a good many Bang & Olufsen products since the late 60's, the walk through the collection is a trip down memory lane. When Apple introduced the Gen 4 iPod, I personally felt that Bang & Olufsen should have been the inventor, they certainly had the experience with capacitance touch control. Later on I enjoyed the ICE audio processor. Today, I'm retired, almost deaf from tinnitus caused by long haul COVID, so much of what I hear is from memory. But, the deal is I once heard it produced the best possible way at the time, with Bang & Olufsen technology.
My absolute favorit system, and also the one i've got at home, is the beomaster 4400, with the beogram 4002. Absolutly amazing, and i've had mine go through an A-Z restauration, with all new components, pickup, oak wood work and so on. Looks and works like brand new. I enjoy it every single day, and even though its a system from the late 70s, its still great design, og looks absolutly amazing. That aside, WHAT a beautiful collection this is! A masterclass in history, design and futuristic thinking. Thank you for sharing this with us, Steve. 😊😊
That is a real classic that you have, I rate the 4002 as one of the best turntables that B&O ever made. This is a great collection, glad you enjoyed the video!
I like to see the Great design of Bang & Olufsen, and their development. I remember when I was a child/teenager in the seventies, I was impressed by the design of Beomaster 1900 (my best friend parents had this masterpiece - just touching it and it changed channel 👍👍). Later on I got a Beogram 1200, my first record player together with a JVC amplifier. I was fascinated by Beogram 4000 and the pickup in the right angle, so I wanted the Beogram 8000 and I had to save money enough, so I could buy it (working as a newspaper delivery in the afternoon). Maybe the fascination of the technics (and my skills in math/physics) that I’m an Engineer today. You don’t always know exactly why you choose to be Engineer, carpenter or electrician…. 👍 P.S. Thanks for giving me a hint to see this TH-cam 👍
Thanks Peter, glad you liked the video - it really was an amazing honour to be able to see this wonderful B&O collection. I think I also became an engineer after being inspired by B&O products as a child, they certainly have had an impact on a lot of people of the years!
Such a nice experience...I would not say that I'm an absolute fan of B&O but I remember, more than 30 years ago when I moved from my countryside to Paris, just round the corner where I'm still living now, there was a huge B&O shop, now of course closed for years. I still regret that I had no money at this time (but I should have gone to visit my banker) and buy a beocenter + the iconic Beogram 4002.
I bought my RL7000 in 1996 used in pristine condition, and they sound really great even today! They are so inobtrusive that people don't realize what they are! One of my best purchases. It would take some really expensive speakers to replicate the sound.
this is nice!!! i recognize a lot of the tv sets :) the MX1000 is actually a MX1500 and it's a Philips CP90 on the inside with adjustments to work with the Beolink 1000.. the 2 MX4000 tv's are MX4200 tv sets, because they have a FLAT tube from panasonic instead of the philips tube :) yeah i know... details details, but wow, what a collection :D
Thanks for the corrections, I recognised quite a few of the products here but I'm not an expert on the TVs! Always good to learn, I really enjoyed this visit!
on the search for some videos, pictures ... for my newly aquired 1949-50 Grand Pix 505k and after looking throught the video fall In love with their 30s Tabletop- and cabinet radios
I just got done watching the 8000 vs 6000. And I agree, with the caveat that as long as the audio setup is not the cheapest of today’s devices, and they are combined and connected. With the intention to be enjoyed, and thought, put into the sound. The craftsmanship and design of these beautiful equipment. Close your eyes and watch these beautiful pieces of history, being created. A man with his tools beside him. He has in his hand, a tool. His focus, intent, he is working the material into the piece of art, that is in front of you, today. Now, you are looking at the first caretaker, of this creation. They are sitting, listening to the music, just enthralled into the music. Now, it’s the holidays, family, friends, parties. At last, there is a new one. Who is this, and why am I being taken away. Now, we are in another room. There is someone else. They are listening to the music. They have the same look as the first caretaker, because they are enjoying the sounds produced, by the design and engineering. That many people put into it. There is more of a relaxed sound being produced. There is a softness, along with an imperfection or two, when looked at closely. Nothing that a polish, and a touch up, will not fix. Each one of these being presented, has a story, and they all begin with a spark. That spark is the ideal for a better sound. A better sound for one place, not everywhere. It might be for a really large listening room. It might be for a small listening room, one as small as half of an motel room, even one that is portable, and meant to be brought in, then taken. I look at audio setups, wether Bluetooth speakers, or full fledged, latest design and technology. Like food. If you change a set of speakers, but everything else is the same, and adjusting the settings for the new speakers. It will sound familiar, yet different. Even when the capacitors is needed to be changed. The change in them, will change the character of the sound produced. People who don’t know, or don’t care, hear bass and treble. They need to care and be explained what they are hearing. Some of the subtle sounds and nuances, will be overlooked. Just as a non foodie will not notice, the difference between spices, which others would pick up that, a cheaper spice was used. You just got to look at some wonderful pieces. Thank you for sharing. You have a new sub.
Thank you! The best part about this collection is that EVERYTHING still works! The previous owner enjoyed listening to them regularly and they are now being cared for and restored by experts within B&O. I love vintage audio systems and I hope to be able to visit again soon and let you hear some of these items playing in a future video...
@@soundsheavenly they were beautiful, and it’s a shame that you couldn’t spend more time. That would be an extremely long video, or a lot of video/work. When you rounded the corners, and you seen the hallway, lined on both sides. I was like you, and I could not imagine if I was there in person. Absolutely amazing. Good to hear that they are not only for looks, but they are also being used for what they are made for.
hello Thank you for showing the famous B&O collection since my childhood we still keep some complete range of Beo system even today they are impressive in design and beauty and quality. from: belgium.
It was great seeing the Beogram 4000 there. In the 70s I was a teenager and I had become really good at setting up turntables, all that stuff about tracking force, bias, cartridge alignment is kind of in my blood. Anyway in the 70s of course the Beogram 4000 appeared and that was revolutionary. However I never owned one, but it was the best. I also really loved the Beosound 9000 which is in that collection and the Beolab 5s however I don't think I saw them in that wonderful collection, but maybe they passed by quickly amongst all the other stuff. The open reel tape decks were really interesting for me because I was also very good at setting those up in the 70s and 80s, however I never owned or even saw a B & O one.
Yes, there are some amazing items here! Although there are some larger B&O collections in existence, I think this has to have the best selection of products (including the super rare Hyperbo 5 RG Steel at the front of the thumbnail picture!)
Thanks, this was completely unexpected when B&O showed me this amazing collection. I was thrilled to be able to experience this and to video it for everyone to share.
@@soundsheavenly I’m relatively new to B&O, having bought my first product just over 6 years ago. I’m now we’ll invested in the system and about to upgrade my TV and speakers etc
Fascinating. A beautiful collection that deserves to be shown to Beofans ( like us 🙂). Thanks for sharing. Always makes me happy when I see a Beocentre 7002 in a video.
Yes, this was amazing to see, I am excited to be able to share this. Did you see the other video from my Danish trip, where I found the World's largest private B&O collection?
@@soundsheavenly no I’ll go find it. I only found your channel recently after looking for reviews of some speakers. I’ve been buying hifi since the 80s. In my early 50s. Always liked some of the b&o designs but usually went Japanese until recently. My friend still has the same system you have on your living room table and it still sounds great. They certainly make things to last.
I like the old portable radios. I own a mint Beosystem 10, which is basically a portable receiver with a phono section and speaker outputs. I also own a pair of Beovox CX-50 speakers, a restored Beocenter 7700 with remote, a restored Beogram 4004 modified to use RCA plugs, and a fully restored Beogram 8002, a really fascinating design as the motor has no moving parts. The 4004 is my favorite piece. It was one of those audio products from the seventies when I was in high school that sent me on an audiophile path. The 8002 may be a better table than the 4004, but I just love the 4004 design better. Because of room limitations, none of these components are on display and are stored away. I've moved on to better stuff so I can't display them.

My dad had that shaver! shown in a red box. What an amazing collection. Thanks for sharing Steve. All items seem to be in such a good shape. Are there anything in the collection that B&O did not already have in their museum?

B&O is my porn 🙈🙉🙊🥂🥳 Fantastic
Sorry, I don't think the B&O private collection is open to the public, I think it is only for special invitation. However, the main Struer town museum contains a large B&O collection and this is open to the public all year round.
i love B&O but in holland they dont like it so i buy it al for a couple of euros .. they all buy the bose stuff what i dont like... thanks for showing this awesome brand !!
Hi, I haven't heard of Beomonkey before but it wouldn't be fair for me to publicly name the collector. If you see the collection in person at the B&O factory then you could ask B&O.
@@soundsheavenly yes it is indeed! I also have an audiophile vacuum tube set up and huge speakers in the other room but this one sounds so nice for less expensive. Just 5 W Rms receiver 6w Rms speakers. Great sound quality
Over the years I have been able to collect so many wonderful B&O units .I was right to do this .I had to levae behind so many great units when i moved from the US to my actual location .And i feel sad ..But i still have a great collection two 4002 ,I even have a quadraphonic amplifier , i have a couple of Biocenter 95. 4 biolab 6000 sets one Beolab 8000 CD rx2 and so many units ,that i only desire one set the quadraphonicBiomaster 6000 .. Not to confuse with the slanted Biomaster 6000 that i also own and love !.. If Pioneer and Sansui are like Toyota reliable great etc. B& O is like a Ferrari
I just so happen to have been given 2 boxes with b&o microfones, and I am not quite sure if they are bm 5’s or bm 6’s, but I am looking to sell Them as I dont have a use for Them and would love for Them to go to someone who would really love them in their collection
That is a great gift to receive! Whilst I wouldn't be able to buy them from you, I suggest asking on the forum at www.beoworld.org as there are many B&O fans there who would love them!
@@soundsheavenly A coworker of mine who works with frequency modules had a very good answer tho: its because there was way less "noise" back then which enabled you to tune in to the Grand Ole Opry even from Germany if you had a strong enough radio, but today with wifi and all the different GSM frequencies it gets distorted.
Well spotted! The speaker 1 and 2 sockets allow for two pairs of speakers to be connected. The extra L and R sockets are extension connections, to allow the Beomaster's speakers to also play from an external device (such as a reel-to-reel tape recorder) that only has speaker outlets.
I found my first one ever next to a dumpster. Beovox s35 with tandberg 2025. It was working fine but the reception is all goofy and volume gets touchy. Now it doesn’t work at all. Anyone know what to do?
Hi, Beomaster 8000 with the wood trim doesn’t have Powerlink outputs, connecting active speakers to this unit is possible but a bit more complex. Are you certain that this is the amplifier that you have please? On newer units with Powerlink outputs, you can drive both active and passive speakers, but there may be a large difference in volume between them so this isn’t recommended. Please get in touch at soundsheavenly.com if you need any help with this.
Only the later amplifiers have Powerlink outputs from around 1990 on, the wood trim ended in the 1980s. I can’t tell you what to buy but please let me know what you choose and I can help with cables
@@soundsheavenly Then it's the Beomaster 3000 the connetions are straight forward on that model . Thanks for sharing your knowledge and videos . Three thumbs up and you got yourself a new subscriber . 👍👍
Thanks! Beomaster 3000 doesn’t have Powerlink outputs but please feel free to get in touch at soundsheavenly.com with details of which speakers you want to connect and I will be happy to help!
Hi, this depends on what music source you are using, it would need to be an external source as the sound of the A9 can’t be shared with other speakers. Please feel free to ask at soundsheavenly.com once you have chosen the music source you want to use and I can help further via email
B&O needs to get back to more affordable cool designs like in the past. Young consumers don't own stereos because of the cost and boring Bluetooth systems. Their marketing division is lost.
@@soundsheavenly Just like they did in the past with unique designs. They weren't trying to be like anyone else. Maybe they could engineer smaller amps, intergrated amp with quality Class D chips but keep the functionality and designs cool looking. I have an S.M.S.L intergrated amp with a German Class D chip that sounds great but lacks style. B&O could do that at very affordable price. My amp cost $237 USD. B&O has products that are way to expensive.
Their gear from the 70's , 80's ,90's up to c 2011 was the best , Jacob Jensen and David Lewis both design geniuses Designs definitely gone downhill since then imo

B&O is my porn 🙈🙉🙊🥂🥳
Fantastic
Thanks, glad you liked it! Sounds like you have a good B&O collection!
Super !!!
Thanks!
Is the museum open in summer??
Sorry, I don't think the B&O private collection is open to the public, I think it is only for special invitation. However, the main Struer town museum contains a large B&O collection and this is open to the public all year round.
Along with my B&O hifi & speakers
I’ve owned an LX6000 tv, as well as two Avants (video) sadly all gone now.
Or maybe it was an LE? Bought in 1986 from Lions on Tottenham Court Road, London.
Sounds like you have had some great B&O products over the years!
@Yorkshiremadmick I remember visiting that store as a teenager, it had a basement showroom for TVs I think?
i love B&O but in holland they dont like it so i buy it al for a couple of euros .. they all buy the bose stuff what i dont like... thanks for showing this awesome brand !!
Thanks, glad you are enjoying buying lots of cheap B&O products!
@@soundsheavenly i need to save them haha
@@ElderPinto254 Yes, I agree!
Great video
Thanks!
Was the collector Beomonkey? He has sold some really real pieces and still is on Catawiki
Hi, I haven't heard of Beomonkey before but it wouldn't be fair for me to publicly name the collector. If you see the collection in person at the B&O factory then you could ask B&O.
Mine is B&O turntable 8000. And beogram receiver 900M radio. Hajitoler M type speakers
Very nice! Those are some great vintage pieces!
Yes, that is a good comparison, I think of B&O like Ferrari or Porsche, real high end quality.
11:49… is a Beogram 4000, not a 4002
Thanks for the correction! I saw a lot of wonderful B&O products that day, so I may have made a few minor errors...
Imagine if the collector had everything set up and working. Some beo home that would have been! 🧐
Yes, that would be amazing! B&O are busy setting this up again at the moment, so it should be ready for viewing soon
Why could we tune into all these radio stations all across the world back in the 50s and not today???
Yes, that is very true... I guess now we have internet radio from across the World instead though
@@alexbleks Yes, that certainly makes a lot of sense
I use my beosound 9000 (mk3) every day and its in perfect mint condition...
They are superb music systems, I wish I had kept mine...
I’ve noticed the bang & olufsen beomaster 3000-2 has input for loudspeakers beside the normal A and B .
What is the purpose behind this?
Well spotted! The speaker 1 and 2 sockets allow for two pairs of speakers to be connected. The extra L and R sockets are extension connections, to allow the Beomaster's speakers to also play from an external device (such as a reel-to-reel tape recorder) that only has speaker outlets.

Thanks for the quick answer.
Have a nice day and a good weekend.
Three thumbs up 👍 👍 from Denmark .
I found my first one ever next to a dumpster. Beovox s35 with tandberg 2025. It was working fine but the reception is all goofy and volume gets touchy. Now it doesn’t work at all. Anyone know what to do?
Those are great speakers, I also had a Tandberg amp many years ago. Not sure about repairs but maybe the guys at www.beoworld.org can help!
Is it possible to use powerlink and the amp to drive passive speakers at the same time in the Beomaster 8000?
Hi, Beomaster 8000 with the wood trim doesn’t have Powerlink outputs, connecting active speakers to this unit is possible but a bit more complex. Are you certain that this is the amplifier that you have please? On newer units with Powerlink outputs, you can drive both active and passive speakers, but there may be a large difference in volume between them so this isn’t recommended. Please get in touch at soundsheavenly.com if you need any help with this.
@@soundsheavenly
I don't have a Beomaster 8000 yet .
The B & O with wood are the ones i prefer .
Are there a unit with powerlink and wood trim ?
Only the later amplifiers have Powerlink outputs from around 1990 on, the wood trim ended in the 1980s. I can’t tell you what to buy but please let me know what you choose and I can help with cables
@@soundsheavenly
Then it's the Beomaster 3000 the connetions are straight forward on that model .
Hi is their any way i can connect 6000 speakers to my A9 3red gen together
Hi, this depends on what music source you are using, it would need to be an external source as the sound of the A9 can’t be shared with other speakers. Please feel free to ask at soundsheavenly.com once you have chosen the music source you want to use and I can help further via email
B&O needs to get back to more affordable cool designs like in the past. Young consumers don't own stereos because of the cost and boring Bluetooth systems. Their marketing division is lost.
Thanks for the feedback. What design do you think should be an inspiration for B&O going forward?
@@soundsheavenly Just like they did in the past with unique designs. They weren't trying to be like anyone else. Maybe they could engineer smaller amps, intergrated amp with quality Class D chips but keep the functionality and designs cool looking. I have an S.M.S.L intergrated amp with a German Class D chip that sounds great but lacks style. B&O could do that at very affordable price. My amp cost $237 USD. B&O has products that are way to expensive.
B&O designs are still unique in my view, but maybe not to everyone’s tastes…
0'37" Beomaster 1100 not 4000
Thanks!
It’s an Aladdins cave of BnO heaven
Oh yes! I didn’t ever want to leave…
i can fix that cd flap on the 5500
👍🏻😁
@@soundsheavenly I'm not into the really old stuff but mid 80s onwards its just stunning 👌
Yes, I was amazed to see all these products!
It`s a CD50😊
@@bokristensen7678 yep I have the same one at home
Front cover to repair on B&O country. Can you show Thirs. Thans
Sorry I don't have any involvement with repairs at all so I can't comment on them.
Their gear from the 70's , 80's ,90's up to c 2011 was the best , Jacob Jensen and David Lewis both design geniuses
Designs definitely gone downhill since then imo
That was certainly a high point for B&O design. Sound quality has greatly improved in recent years so don’t write off the new products completely!
