      I have two friends from college who are relatively well known pros. In 2007 or so One of them stepped down from his usual stakes to play with me at a $1/$2 table in Vegas. He ordered a drink and casually looked at me and whispered "by the way i am never folding". Then proceeded to rip the game for $3-$4k. I created a new style of play called "KOP" - King of Poker where I imitated his moves with a little more discretion due to my less advanced hand reading skills and proceeded to triple my win rate. I could consistently win about $1-$2k a weekend in South Florida in the 2009-2010 era before they removed the capped buyins. What a time to be alive.

      This was Robbi Lew in the make version, all emotion over thought. She was scared, I knew she was scared, she induced me to overbet my hand and called because she was scared. She was so scared she called my river overbet shove with just two pair. She called a shove on a three card straight flush with multiple straights, flushes, sets and better two pairs possible. I might rethink that read when she calls playing J8 limp flatting, calls the reraise on the turn and the shove on the river.
      " Of course she doesn't have a flush, she would have lead into me" says the guy who shoves a straight, makes me wonder if he wasn't doing that even if he didn't improve, and then she would have won. And she'd still be a bad losing player who's too obvious.....I'm sure 😃.

    Bart, you are a true professional in all the best ways. You allowed the caller to explain himself and gave the benefit of the doubt to the spirit of his interpretation and then were able to give him good guidance that is also very useful in terms of how to play rivers when game dynamics are a key consideration (ie not overbluffing those situations and by corollary making big bluffs with a nitty image when an opponent would adjust by making a big laydown). This caller was very insistent on his interpretation of the hand and resisted many of your points, and you were still able to create a moment of learning for him. I enjoy and admire your commentary and Texas is ever so slightly worse off without you. Thanks!

Just flatting and trying to get lucky is what bad players do, so I agree more with @nansy pansy then what you are saying. Not to mention the fact that implied odds vs direct odds for the 4th, 5th, 6th player etc actually get worse because the equity of your hand probably won't even match the pot equity, like you can't just call with J2 suited because you are getting 5-1 direct odds and your probably like a 9-1 dog to the field equty-wise, and you have to remember these equities we are all always talking about and see stats for on on streams are to the river equities; very rarely are we actually going to realize our runout equity in any given hand let alone one that is five ways with a perceived manic, also not to mention getting yourself coolered is also a factor.

The four calls make it seem likely they are playing that range, what rich says makes “them bad players.”

    • @adamseidel9780
      @adamseidel9780 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do think a palatable defense of that is that essentially you’re making -EV opens compared to the blinds in order to drastically increase the size of the game to match the pots in what you view is an advantageous situation. Since everybody is calling, at least some of the players aren’t taking the proper exploitative counter against you.
      That’s insufficient though since a couple people people at the table COULD be doing that to you and it’s questionable if this guy would notice. Also, it’s pretty important that he thinks he’s intimidating the other players at the table and playing postflop assuming they’re scared… when the fact that they’re all calling pre and calling him down with a very weak two pair proves the EXACT OPPOSITE. This guy had a 70% chance by the turn to lose his entire stack as a result of that.
      So it’s pretty important that he was doing an arguably defensible exploitive play for the wrong reasons.
