The way that the designers made each of these fights so fundamentally similar (in that they all use effectively the same mechanics), but different enough that you can make a whole deep-dive video into each one is just ridiculous. If this game had only been about pure skill, it's very likely someone would have perfected it by now. But it's the need for skill, luck, dedication, and ingenuity in just the right balances that has given it so much life and excitement even today.

LOL, this was the most entertaining one of these you've done yet (I suppose that's ironic given Don2 is supposed to be the least entertaining fight). The storytelling was just so great! Dave is a true hero
Very random, but if you really think about it, The New York Yankees logo on Matt Turk’s hat looks like it spells out “MT”, as the Y intersects with the N, making the N look like an M, and the Y can be interpreted as a T. So his hat isn’t a New York Yankees hat, it’s a Matt Turk hat. Very random, but interesting if you think about it.
I can’t comprehend the sheer patience either. Game is a lot of fun but most of these WR requires so much bs in your favor that just adds extra pressure in execution of tight frame windows.
ANNOUNCEMENT: I am declaring a bounty for Don 2 right here, right now. $5 to anybody who beats Dave’s record by the end of 2024. (Sorry guys, I’m kinda scratching a broke ass)
I cant remember which vid it was, but i did make one where i puporsely didnt use the word however. Think it mightve been bull 2 or soda. It was tough lol
What happened to the part of the video that showed double dodging to get guaranteed stars? and sinister streaming the wr the next day? I'm sure all that was in the video my first watch but is gone now
Don day? nah, its now officially Don Dave's day (obviously not official but still is kinda cool to say it, the grind of a single person pushing the limits of a single battle)
for normal players: don 2 is probably the biggest difficulty change in terms of making the game easier (basically he's the easiest dude in the world circuit, well... if piston honda 2 didn't have the one shot ko) but for speedrunners: he is the mr sandman/mike tyson of the run for having the game become harder in difficulty
it seems odd there would only be 5 names on the leaderboard. Do you have to beat somebody already there to get on it? Maybe I don't understand how these leaderboards work, but shouldn't any decent attempt with evidence be up there? surely more than 5 people have even attempted don2 IL.
Id have to say the best MTPO player is Summoning Salt, his overall consistency is just better than everyone elses - although the gap between him and other top players is slowly closing.
@@ShinyMew76 I understand your view, but I like to differentiate between "Greatest" and "Best" Turk certainly pushed the pace very early on, far exceeding his contemporaries, making him exceptionally "Great". But on a fight like Mike Tyson, where there has been basically no new strategy development since 2002/2003. Salt, and a few other players exceed Turk in consistency, making them "Better" imo.
I love the idea of someone being so drunk they flub the world record. Anyway, least favcourite fight in the game. I hate Don 2, he's just not very interesting and really luck based. I know if I was on WR pace i'd choke on him, or choke him
I honestly have no idea how to work out a lowest guaranteed time since there are too many random events... I could do something similar, If a player is expecting the worst possible luck and they get it, what time would they get - So that'd be a worst luck with perfect play run.
@@Papamanual well for a start I think that assuming that each fight can be beaten in 9 minutes elapsed, and then subtracting out the guaranteed timesaves from there. as for the more random fights (like sodas hooks or flamencos stars), what makes sense to me is considering it like a bell curve: it is unlikely that you would get the worst luck and unlikely that you would get the best (like flipping 1000 coins and having the total amount of heads be 520 or 485)
