    Todd Rogers in August of 2022 achieved the world first frame rule bus skip by starting the bus in 2nd gear. Not even a TAS can recreate it the strat is so cutting edge. Just another monumental feat in his Hall of Fame career. Great video and explanation of the manipulation.

      In an unrelated story, Todd Rogers once beat Trevor Berbick's Punch Out with less than 10 punches.

    MTPO has shockingly sophisticated coding for when it came out, especially when it comes to speedrunning. Every time I watch a video about MTPO I learn something new. Stuff like the scrambler and punches dealing extra damage on specific frames is amazing to hear about.

    This was a great video. Just a very minor correction: the numbers you show are all one-byte long. For instance, FF is a one-byte value. When you look only at the right hex digit, you are actually just looking at the least significant four bits, i.e. the least significant nibble. A nibble is half a byte. Another way of looking at it is that to obtain just the least significant nibble, you can 'bitwise and' the number with #$0F, which will zero out the highest four bits.

    You said before that you want to do a world record progression video for every fight in Mike Tyson's Punch Out except Mike Tyson. This is because Summing Salt did a video on that fight already. I still think that you should do it. The record for Mike Tyson has gone a long way since Summoning Salt's video, and he wasn't as good at making WR progression videos back then.

    Something I'm curious about, is why is this not useful in Don Flamenco 2 runs? Couldn't you hard reset, put in the passcode, and by starting the fight on a specific frame and doing well timed inputs, manipulate a bunch of random stars?

    • @Papamanual
      @Papamanual  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thats a good question... I dont know the answer for sure, but as far as I know, the check for random stars happens very late (after atleast 1 bit rotation) so it is basically uncontrollable for humans

      Maybe for you but a lot people that grew up when the NES came out would consider it such. Got my NES for my 7th birthday in 87 and I’d consider it a top game of all time. Estimates have the number of video games on traditional platforms at around 93k. Can easily be argued Mike Tyson’s Punchout is in the top 250 and an even easier argument for top 500 both of which would classify it as a greatest game of all time.

He showed it to me, literally finishing every fighter in one try and Mike in two. Thats part of the reason I never bothered with getting a NES. By that time, far better games were out on PC. Any of which would be in the top 100, and far better than Punch Out. People just like Punch Out, as it has nostalgia for them, it wasnt all that interesting of a game. Its literally pattern and sound recognition. Jeez, people can literally complete it blindfolded.
