Love the fact that pneumonia slows the character down regardless of your health. This demonstrates to me that something can be done that I’ve been thinking should be in the game for ages… which is: lack of food should not affect health, it should only affect stamina; it should only start affecting your health when you become dangerously malnourished. As it stands, it’s ridiculous from a realism perspective that your character can die from starvation within half an in-game day. In reality, you can survive on like 200 calories a week providing you don’t over exert yourself; hence, lack of food should affect stamina not health
@@kentaotsuki1331 yeah! that’s my point. You wouldn’t be able to run. So food should be tied to stamina instead. Project Zomboid does a much better job with the realism aspect tbf
my guy you try doing half of what your dayz character does and tell me how long it takes you to starve you cant survive on 200 cals a day doing this type of stuff and if they did what your saying then no one would need to ever worry about food you would have heavily geared players going to the coast just gunning down freshies with no need to worry about food or water
I've had similar thoughts regarding the health bar. An overall health bar that decreases from all kinds of damage doesn't really make sense as is. For example, if your were to fall 10ft, you would hurt your legs, but a literal chunk of your life force wouldn't be taken out of you. It should probably cause a sprain that has implications on character movement (maybe limp for 10 minutes) rather than actual health damage. This concept could be applied to many instances with different status effects for each one; a couple examples being a concussion from serious head trauma (tunnel vision, occasional blurred vision, probability of vomiting), cracked ribs (stamina debuff, character winces in pain), hypothermia (shaking that burns calories faster and makes aiming difficult, player can't move as fast, needs fire/warmth).

If there's gonna be pneumonia now that kills you getting a cold needs to be harder. you can get one by just being in the rain for 3 minutes as a freshie
Unless they buff some of the higher end clothing, this all sounds like they are making the game much harder to survive in, to an unrealistic degree. I commenting on a DayZ video in 2024, clearly I am a fan of this game, but the needing to stop for a fire every 10 minutes when wearing warm clothing on Namalsk is challenging in a way that is not fun, realistic, nor engaging. According to these videos not only is the new map going to be colder, but they are cranking up the disease lethality as well. My strong suspicion is that I am going to love the new map visually as it seem they have done a typically great job, but will hate playing on it because it becomes impossible to do anything but huddle next to a fire 50% of the time.
Dayz 2012 to 2018 was a trailblazer. Primarily, a PVP game uniquely mixed with high interaction. It was edgy and the original gunplay mechanics were so immersive that you needed a very decent level of skill to land shots. Survival was important but it was secondary. Sadly, since 2018 Bohemia have been turning the game into a survival game, which Dayz never originally was. PVP and interaction has become secondary. The game is being over consolized and slowed down making it more simple and akin to the current economic trend of grinding and leveling up in gaming. This attracts a more generic casual playerbase not looking for a nerdy, knife edge, anti game experience as it once was. The new pointy shooty arcadey gunplay is so simple that you can just hip fire and make your shots connect even at middle distance. The game is feeling more and more like a farming simulator with slowed down survival factors. Dayz today is more like a spin off game. It maybe Dayz in name but its not Dayz anymore.
@@Yagdrollol, you're 100% wrong. Read the story of how Dean Hall became sick and was inspired with the vision of DayZ. Then during the development of stand alone it was going to have a much stronger survival elements hence the blood transfusions, blood types, etc. In fact originally it was going to have urination/defecation mechanics. It is true that many players see survival as a secondary part of DayZ but that's never what how it was intended to be.
@@yugen im talking about how incredible Dayz was 2012 to 2018. Not what features they discussed and did not implement. Im all for a survival element but it should be secondary and not slow game down, taking it away from PVP and interaction.
I don’t know how its tuned right now but honestly this system has potential. On non-winter maps, temperature is barely an issue, especially late game where you’re constantly stocked up on food making you immune to the cold and negating the hunger drain debuff. If its tuned correctly, you will now actually have to pay attention to your temperature even outside of winter maps. Do think it should be draining a lot faster though, maybe not realistic but getting killed by a meter that you can’t even see filling up is a bit lame.
Can we just have a disease that HAS to be cured by antibiotics and not just be brushed off by the player character being sated and hydrated? Feels like the actual medicine in the game is much less useful now than back in the day.
LOVE the videos Wobo, I had an idea you should share with the developers. Spawn cars with all the parts on them just mostly ruined/badly damaged and locked in place with the proper tool. The players will have to find tools and parts in order to fix the vehicles. This would probably be more realistic for the apocalypse.
Hearing the pneumonia breathing gave me serious scary flash backs when I was 6 my lung collapsed to due pneumonia and I had forgotten about me breathing like that and when I heard the breathing those memories of near death came back in a hurry after 20 years
It is cool to have that in the game, BUT, im afraid if they continue with this medical stuff, Official servers can turn into DayZintenze servers where we have 10093939 tablets, pills, ampules and no one knows what are they for! Btw, tnx again for video! cheers!
Syberia Project is one of the best mods for serious survival and DayZ in its current form is really easy to play. Anyway, there is just one new medicine in this update and others are boosted. So thats far from mods.

Dayz PS5 is already brutal enough with dupers on official. Now I gotta deal with this BS once the final update comes out. Glad PS5 doesn’t have experimental and I can enjoy what’s left of this build.
Sorry if I missed this on the video, but you can also get a 5 minute resistance against the disease when your heat buff runs out. So not when it's active, but after it. This might be a good trick to cure the disease faster when you're using tetracycline; sit by a fire and the moment you see the buff, get away from the heat, then wait for the plus sign disappear. Repeating this every 5 minutes will get you a constant resistance and prevent the flu from growing.
@@berdyderg900 I think it'll be pretty relevant in cold environments. Like something wets or ruins your clothes in a blizzard in the middle of night and you'll have 5 minutes to get warm before getting sick. Of course it'll still be easy to avoid once you're well equipped.
@@bosmofots I play almost nothing but namalsk with the most hardcore settings these days and I honestly get a cold like once every five lives and it never has time to progress to anything bad. This is a skill issue lol sorry to be that guy
Dang man Warn a brother Next time. I'm watching this at work in the breathing section. Had everybody looking at me like "what the hell is he watching?" 😂
It would be cool if they wouldn't make everything a parody. You shiver, cough and sneeze WAY too often, and being slightly cold for a while should almost never be a death sentence. Making it so that having a cold slightly reduces your stam regen and gives a stamina penalty when running, a bit more of the same for influenza (+ blurry vision), and even more for pneumonia (+ a VERY small health penalty) would be more than enough to make people deal with the disease. Its about as stupid as "Oh, I drank dirty water - I guess I'll be dead in half an hour". In the end, it's not about making things easier or harder, but if it makes sense. This does not.
Yes and broken legs take weeks to heal irl.its a game. It's a means of coercion for you to stay indoors/wear appropriate clothes/fire sources while it rains, etc.
@@vandalcreed Some features cannot be realistic as it would make more sense to suicide and run back to the body if you need weeks to heal a broken leg. But, the things I mentioned are not like that. All the uber sneezing is just annoying, and doesnt affect the gameplay other than just making you pissed off at the constant coughs and sneezes. Nothing would be changed if you shivered once every five minutes and sneezed once every ten minutes or something. Same thing goes for food. You could easily make food harder to find rather than nerfing the calories so that you have to eat like a complete idiot to stay energized while jogging around, and you can eat three packs of salty sticks and vegetables and still starve shortly after. Its pure nonsense, really. Any runner will tell you how ridiculously exaggerated this whole thing is. Eating a full pack of rice is also hilarious. You'd think there's enough calories for a day or two of heavy work in it, but no - it's barely anything at all. Also, from a gameplay standpoint, why would you force people to stay indoors while it rains? Active gameplay > passive gameplay. Appropriate clothing would be fun if it was tuned properly. Wearing warm clothing in +5-10 (which I guess is about the temp in Chernarus) while running with heavy gear should make you sweat alot and lose water. I do run alot IRL, and even in +7-8 degrees you wont freeze even if you run shirtless and with shorts - unless there is some serious wind. In DayZ, however, you shiver in conditions where at least I would be sweating my ass off. Same thing goes for rain. If you're physically active, a bit of rain really isnt that much of a problem in +10 or whatever. In fact, it's often appreciated. (I speak from experience). A need for a fire to keep warm sounds much more like a Namalsk thing than something that fits on Chernarus. Again, look to the real life - people do not usually sit in front of a fire during fall to avoid frostbite. It's a winter thing, at best. This post is long enough as it is, but TL;DR: you can make the game mechanics a challenge the right way, rather than a silly way that costs less effort.
@@Myst291 Yes, that too. I'd rather make sodas more rare than pretend they carry 1/10 of the water/energy they should have if the devs feel it would be easymode if they actually provide you with 50g worth of sugar. Especially the water content makes no sense, as water has never been a real issue in DayZ anyway - it's just something you need to keep a slight eye for after the freshie visit to the well. Whenever I find a drink in DayZ, I drink it for the energy more often than the hydration.
Thank you for doing what you do we would be lost without you WOBO. May I ask so the new tablets to purify water are going to replace the chlorine? Will we still have chlorine? Also, dumb question but I want to ask for peace of mind. As long as we get hydrated, eat and get our temp up to the right stats we will avoid getting stage 0 altogether?
It being a for sure death of you're missing any amount of health at all is not cool, theirs no avoiding that. So the only way to survive is being in the BEST case scenario EVERYTIME, that is extremely unfun, you can argue it being realistic but theres a balance between realism and still having fun in a video game.
I’ve had pneumonia before I was in wrestling in middle school. I could barely fight. I was always so winded coughing up mucus. I only 1 out of four matches pneumonia sucks. I finally went to the doctor that night and they told me I could’ve very well died god that sucked
I watched the video but missed the part that explains how to treat pneumonia. Warm clothes, fire, food water but do you also need medicine. Tetra/vitamins?
I know realism is the intent, but no one in real life gets sick that way, that constantly, or that quickly. I think theres plenty more ways to make the pve more challenging. I also think it would be better if sickness could be turned off completely for pvp servers or other customs if a server renter so desired. That way the two camps on this debate could be satisfied.
Ran to the camp south of Novy sobor….yellow water, white food and died by the time my water was flashing and was drinking water. So I was losing health with white food and yellow water and died within an hour.
I think my comment inspired this video! Its good as it will make hardcore pvp players chill out and play more stratigically if they want to make a coast2Tisy run.
I like how some of the comments are very doom related in terms of your start. Clearly these people havn't played alot of Namalsk. First thing I do when I load in is created handwraps and a facewrap to keep the cold semi at bay until i can find better.
Constantly waiting for fixes for fixes is annoying. Why did they adjust it so much? If you add a new feature, you need a clear way to counter or offset it. It doesn't really make the game better, just more tedious in certain situations.
Cool, maybe next update you’ll have to start oiling your guns and if they get too wet they’re more prone to jamming. Maybe when it rains you can get struck by lightning too. The more you shoot guns, the more likely you are to go deaf💀💀
I think losing quality of life every single patch is so good for the game, sarcasm. Idk why i even watch wobo video's anymore I stopped playing dayz months ago. I wish they would focus on fixing stuff or adding QOL

@@doseferatuBecause gatekeepers want the game to be as hard as possible for new players for no reason other than so they can say "im good and youre bad, just dont get sick lul". God forbid we get an update that improves the quality of life rather than making the game more tedious.
Do u want to die if you get shot in the leg with a pistol? Now that would also be realistic since there’s no hospitals ect. It’s a game after all-there’s gotta be simplifications

@@modelrailwaynooblol. idk why I’m still surprised by the toxicity of the internet. During my time in university I worked as a paramedic so I do know a tiny bit although you are right my point clearly was that it is impossible to make a perfectly realistic game. There always needs to be some sort of gamification. I could make endless examples. And I very much want the game to be as realistic as possible since this contributes to the immersiveness which makes dayz stand out. I’m still convinced that if the average person were to be dropped in the world of dayz there’s a significant chance they’ll die when shot in the legs. But that, as I mentioned above, wasn’t my point. But I get the feeling u r not that kind of person to have interesting discussions with lol Before your feelings get hurt again: If what u say is true I’m very aware that you have seen a lot of shit in life and that you know a lot about people getting shot, way more than I do of course!! @@Dayzew hahaha not used to being put in your place are you? Did mom never say no? There are dressings and antibiotics in the game as well as IVs. What else do you think is needed? Most people that are shot do not die. In WWI soldiers were pleased if they received a nice clean bullet wounded because your chances of surviving were pretty good. It's the shelling that cause the big problems because of the bacteria in the soil. The game is too far from being realistic. It's daft.
Pneumonia is no joke, I had it and sepsis in real life, wound up on a ventilator, mostly dead for a week and pumped full of all the drugs. 8 months later, still sub par.

Exactly they keep trying to make it more survival orientated for experienced players when all they do is make it FKing annoying as hell for experienced players and IMPOSSIBLE for a new player
I think they're using the fact that cold temperatures stresses and weakens our immune system... so we're more succeptable to bacteria that surrounds us in the environment. In Dayz , that would be many.. similar to the middle ages, when some people wouldn't bathe because "you will catch your death of cold" me r expurt historian 😂
Wobo, is it possible to create Ukrainian subtitles or English subtitles for automatic translation on TH-cam? I watch your every video, but the automatically generated subtitles on TH-cam don't always display correctly.
Now to give the water bottle and canteen rag/bandage slots so that you can disinfect them through boiling. Maybe disinfecting takes a little longer at boiling temperatures to get more wear cost on the vessel. If you add dirty rags/bandages to the slot then the water becomes bad and will make you sick to drink until boiled, to discourage using it as storage. Clean rags/bandages will become dirty again if you drink from the vessel without removing them
The devs are once again just trying to make the game more survival focused. The loading screen prompt that tells you to take shelter when it’s raining is something I usually cackle at… now it’s a must.
I’ve been boiling water for about 4 seconds for yearssssss on DayZ and I’ve never gotten sick from it. That 1 minute comment seems quite off unless they recently changed it in this update

@@Yagdrollol, you're 100% wrong. Read the story of how Dean Hall became sick and was inspired with the vision of DayZ.

How is this different from the current system? That's how it was in the mod, I can guarantee you the developers have considered this.

Will you do a Updated Diagramm to show the Diseases + how to heal them?
keeping track of this will be difficult...
Cheers o7
Asmondian handles that
It would be cool if they wouldn't make everything a parody.
@@knooters Lol yeah drinking 10 sodas in a row and not even full water
@@Myst291 Yes, that too. I'd rather make sodas more rare than pretend they carry 1/10 of the water/energy they should have if the devs feel it would be easymode if they actually provide you with 50g worth of sugar. Especially the water content makes no sense, as water has never been a real issue in DayZ anyway - it's just something you need to keep a slight eye for after the freshie visit to the well. Whenever I find a drink in DayZ, I drink it for the energy more often than the hydration.
The cars are still death traps, but somehow they can pull this shit off.....
Chlorine tabs will stay in the game. You can avoid stage 1 and 2 but not others.
@@WOBO thank you!
It being a for sure death of you're missing any amount of health at all is not cool, theirs no avoiding that. So the only way to survive is being in the BEST case scenario EVERYTIME, that is extremely unfun, you can argue it being realistic but theres a balance between realism and still having fun in a video game.
You should thank the people at the end with text.
I think 24 minutes is actually way too fast for death.
Staying warm seems to stop it developing/getting worse.
Not sure about Tetra or vitamins, can't find any :(
I know realism is the intent, but no one in real life gets sick that way, that constantly, or that quickly. I think theres plenty more ways to make the pve more challenging.
