I Really feel like weapons break too quickly they generally get damaged in one gun fight so you end up having to carry three guns as back up, if you can not find repair kits... ppl tend to hoard repair kits so they can still be hard to find... When you consider an AK can fire over 3000 rounds before even needing a clean in RL, it's just not realistic to have to carry three AR'S just in case one breaks... 140 rounds to damaged is just unbalanced, it has actually put me off playing of late.
Does the durability of weapons/suppressors degrade after more and more uses? Like say you repair a weapon/suppressor 10 times, does it degrade faster? Did you notice that all during testing?
I have no idea about the number of hours of work is needed to produce this 10 minutes video, but i really hope you get enough money and/or pleasure for every second it takes. We are lucky to have you, i don't think every Video Game has it's Wobo. Long Live DayZ, Long live Wobo!
I’d rather see a buff to suppressors than to see them stay the same. Think about how many hours we put in to get NBC gear, just to have them ruin in minutes. Seems like a big waste of time.
I believe you missed a little detail about, when you are reloading a magazine, the bullets being put in will also degrade the magazine. Ive seen this happen to me as I watch the number increase in magazine and witnessed the colour dot change from yellow to orange. So be mindful of that too. 😊
Suppressors in DayZ for me as somewhat of a weapons expert irl have always been really annoying. Military suppressors can easily take 5000 rounds if you allow them some cooldown time between mags. 5000 Rounds is when military routinely replaces them but they could go for much longer. No telling how long a B&T Rotex or a Shurefire RC2 would actually last till its unsafe to shoot them. DayZ devs say suppressors dont last long for balancing reasons, they dont want everyone on the server to have one and dump mags like theres no tomorrow. I would love them to last a long time but instead to simply be very rare. Makes so much more sence if you ask me.
Suppressors last wayyyyyyyy longer than 5000 rounds, lol. They don’t require servicing, or cleaning really, and “military suppressor” is such a non-starter of a term. What I personally own is better than what the US military uses, lol. If you go back far enough in time (the 1980’s) silencers did need re-coring more often, especially the ones from Europe which were built very poorly. So even though we don’t get to keep our suppressors pristine very long in-game, it isn’t totally unrealistic. Except for the Standardized silencer wearing out in-game. That’s clearly modeled after AAC M4-2000, which is still one of the best 5.56 cans, even today, possessing tremendous durability.
The repairing right before item becomes badly damaged can be used on everything, really good if you're building a base and need logs, planks and large stones to maximize the usage of sharpening stone.
I've personally watched mags go damaged just from being reloaded. Especially 100+ round mags. They'll be pristine or worn when you start filling them then worn or damaged when you finish without firing a single shot.
Yeah, I could swear I remember one of my kits having a pristine mag, then after a few reloads I looked at it and it was worn. Although I suppose it's possible I had it in my shirt and a zombie smacked me. I know one time I got in a firefight with a player and they actually destroyed the mag in my rifle and I couldn't keep shooting lmao.
Yeah I swear everything you find in this game is like one or two uses away from degrading to the next level. It happens to me all the time, find a pristine mag? Load it up and it's worn. Find a worn suppressor? Fire two shots and it's damaged. It's so freaking tiring.
Top tips ❤ Weapons wear too quickly. Suppressors I can understand needing more maintenance. I can understand a gun needs cleaning regularly, but to "use up" a cleaning kit so quickly is ridiculous. Maybe add a "gun repair" kit that would be the only way to repair a gun, then have the maintenance kit smaller and have more uses?
I agree. Suppressors wear so quickly and I have to have like 3+ for my Glock at all times. This and the weapon repair kit should just be more rare but last much longer.
Suppressors irl especially welded suppressors like those found on centerfire intermediate caliber rifles require very little maintenance and are usually considered self cleaning due to the amount of gas that blows back into the rifle and out the muzzle, the only thing that happens is lead buildup in the baffles which leads to increased weight and slightly less efficient sound suppression due to the lead displacement resulting in less volume in the suppressor.
*KEEP IN MIND that in real life...silencers often outlast the gun. Also keep in mind there's USPs in the real world thats been fired over 250,000 times.* I'm not saying we should get rid of weapon durability...but we should significantly increase it. I know there are mods for that, and its a zombie survival game...but I wish there's as much realism as possible on Official/Vanilla. We should also significantly decrease the speed/ability to repair guns. In real life you would need to order parts when something breaks. It would make more sense that you would have to disassemble another gun of the same type...combine it with a cleaning kit...in order to repair that specific gun. So essentially what I'm asking for is...weapon kits no longer clean weapons. You have to combine a cleaning kit with a donor or donor weapons (can be badly damaged)...in order to create a specific cleaning kit. I know its not a perfect system...but it would make a lot more sense. You would be physically picking the best parts from each of the weapons you put into the kit...and combining them to make yours "brand new" again.
You can also use that gun cleaning kit trick on sharping stones and leather kits to make them last longer. It’s a really useful trick when resources are scarce. I also noticed that magazines damage from reloads. I was reloading a worn KAM mag and it went from worn to damaged. I’m pretty sure I even recorded it
I do the same to extend the life of sharpening stones when using tools. I take it as close to the lower level as possible before repairing. As always, amazing video for us all. Thank you. ❤
Same...I'm heartbroken because my current setup is a suppressed AKM...and it has been for a while since its one of my favorite in the game. I have realized that the AKM suppressor EATS cleaning kits like its a buffet - guess I know the reason now. Never fire full auto when you have a full 75 round magazine and there's a suppressor attached.
always had a suspicion it worked like this, during big raids it seemed to make sense to shoot well past damaged but not quite to badly damaged then repair weapons & suppressors. thanks for confirming wobo ❤
The weapon repair trick also works on saws! I've been doing that since I started Dayz on console, it's very helpful because you can count how many circles you do while sawing plank piles to be able to do the same
Just loading magazines causes them to wear down over time too. I have seen it a couple times that they go from prestine to worn after I inserted a single bullet.
i always thought that zombies just specifically targeted the suppressors when hitting you, but now i know it's just because they have such little health compared to literally any other item
Which, in reality, is totally unrealistic. Same with suppressors running down so fast in the game because suppressors irl can fire like 10,000 rounds before they wear
It’s good to use the same repair technique with clothing, especially shoes; if your kicks become damaged, run them out for a bit longer instead of instantly repairing and you can massively extend the life of them sexy black trail shoes.
Not that sharpening stones are as rare, but you can use the same trick for repairing tools with them. As in, use the saw at damaged 3 times and it's one use off badly damaged (from memory?), then repair it.
Wobo, something i noticed about magazines, loading and unloading bullets to/from the mag will reduce durability. may need testing, but was surprising. thanks for what you do man, cheers!
Suppressors should be very durable. Unless abused (several hundred rounds of automatic fire without stopping) they should last for thousands of rounds. Weapon durability should be increased as well but have them wear down faster with a suppressor attached, at least with semiautomatic firearms. The increased back pressure means harder cycling and that can cause premature wear on internal parts as opposed to non-suppressed firing.
Great video and tons of useful information, as usual. Thanks a bunch WOBO! Silencers are probably one of my biggest gripes about DayZ, along with how quickly the weapons degrade. I own half a dozen suppressors, and aside from the .22lr cans, they literally require ZERO maintenance or cleaning. I pop open and clean my .22lr silencer every 500-1000 rounds. 10,000 rounds later it still works fine. My oldest silencer is a 5.56 can and has well over 5,000 rounds through it with zero cleaning or maintenance, and it works just as good as it did brand new 16 years ago. Oh and the improvised suppressors need to go, they are an absolute joke and simply do not work in real life.
I'm glad to know this works with guns aswell! One thing I have learnt playing dayZ myself is using the same formula on handsaws and sharpening stones while gathering planks (for example). You'll notice if you do so for long enough your soft skill has an impact! Take care out there survivors
Are you sure about the magazines not being damaged by shooting? I swear I was going HAM with an Amphibia last night and the mag went from damaged to badly damaged...
Everything related to weapon maintenance needs a buff. I would pick up a worn gun and have to use up my cleaning kit within an hour of playing(not fighting players). Suppressors should be buffed just a bit more as well. Theres a lot of videos online showcasing suppressor durability, and all of them last more than 150-250 shots, CONTINUOUSLY.
Agreed. Unfortunately it’s just another example of a developer who’s out of touch with a portion of their subject matter. Yes, hardcore survival, but also… Community servers. Lol.
Suppressors need 2-3 times the about of durability, fire arms in general need a 1.25 times durability buff as well. Suppressors irl last between 300-400 CONTINUOUS rounds. But, I think 200-400 (depending on the ammo) would make more sense. For the game sake Firearms can last a few thousand rounds before needing to be cleaned. AKs more than others.
Nice video, great. State of the ammo also changes how much damage will gun take from each shot. Pristine ammo will do less damage to your gun than badly damaged ammo.
Hi. I am almost sure the Buckshot bug is back again. Only one of the pelets hit. I shot a freshspawn twice with a double barrel and he only got two bleeds. Have you had the same experience with buckshots recently after the update?
@W0B0 a Question. In one short portion you drop the yellow box filled with suppressors and shot it. The items had been loaded in horizontal positions and the Top 3 were ruined but the bottom one was still Pristine. Is that normal for stored item damage? Whether top to bottom or left to right, is there a Pattern of which items get ruined first?
Same can be said for sharpening stones, for instance, cutting wood piles with a handsaw or hacksaw. You count 3 or 4 circles worth after the colour change to yellow.. so it's one step before 'badly damaged' 🍻
They need to implement a da.age modifier for suppresors. Like, if you shoot full auto, maybe after 5 shots the damage increases by .5. So the best way to use suppresors is by shooting semi, and letting the suppresor "breath" for 1 or 2 seconds for the modifier to reset, so the 6th shot fired im semi with a bit of rest, doesnt increase by .5 dmg.
Are the current armor stats on the weapon damage drop off tool up to date? And do you plan on adding the chain mail to this as well to factor it with and without armor?
Good to know and to answer your question I don't think anyone would count their shots to min max their reparability as it's not a skill that makes the difference between life and death and good players are already counting shots in their magazine witch is a life and death data to keep in mind. I think I already implicitly thought the weapon repair kit would bump your durability to the next level whether or not you were one shot away from degrading it or you just entered the degraded state, and I thought this rule applied to every repair kits of any kind. It's good to know, for sure this time, and to have a scope of the formula. I would rather have a change to the suppressor so they are more durable. They could add a stat modifier when you full auto 30-60-75 rounders that use the suppressor more as it would suffer from heat. I could see a stat that grows while you keep your finger on mouse 1 and resets itself when you stop holding. They would have to buff the original durability "armor" of the suppressor a lot for that to happen but I can see that as a good balance.
Thanks so much for the video! Did you ever investigate sniper rifle off hand shooting precision? wonder if it’s just random or has a design to it. Sometimes i feel like projectile tends to skew to the right where gun model is but hard to tell
Just a random request for a FAMAS G2 Felin (Pic rails and Stanag mags) would be an incredible rifle and would be another flavor of the AUG A1/AX, 74u/74, M16/M4 upgrade theme.
Can you possibly do one on the mags and their durability or add it in a vid someday? I have mags go damaged as i load em into either the gun or bullets into the mag i cant figure it out tbh 😅
I find being able to attach a suppressor on a 380, then a 9mm, then a 45, is a little boring, I'd rather there was a type of suppressor for each ammo type. Obviously the bottle suppressor doesn't care about ammo type, but the manufactured ones should.
You can fit bigger suppressors on smaller calibers it just doesn’t work (as well) but it still definitely works Also .380 and 9mm use the same suppressors I’m like 90% sure
@@bobstupaksvegasworld4098 I can agree with that on folding stocks and the ability to fold them, mostly because the skorpion looks trashy with an unfolded stock.
I won't be counting shots I will still repair damaged weapons right after they've gone to this state (it's crutial in fights) I will definitely be using information in this video to save some gun kits on suppressors, as they work exactly the same regardless of durability
Interesting that the CR-75 lasts almost 150 shots more than the glock. I always considered them the same and basically interchangeable, but with the same ammo, magainze capacity, and attachment options, seems like the CR-75 is basically a direct upgrade
Agreed. Re-coring even a 1980’s model “in the field” wouldn’t be feasible, and center-fire cans don’t need cleaning. Makes it all a bit silly in a survival game.
In general, the rate of weapon damage is pretty stupid - it can make cleaning kits into an in-game currency. Thanks for working this out though... BTW the 'wrapped' suppressors on Deer Isle seem to work almost forever.
Hopefully these findings help the devs make some needed changes to weapon/suppressor durability. They can maintain the games authenticity and balance in the process.
few hours ago after over a week firing around 10mags from my worn sval killing zombies(no players to find at area 42) finally a player run at me and my worn sval (prestine mag) jammed after 2 shots. i even janged my twich handle to jammedguncurse month ago after i got 4 jammed guns in 5 figherfits. there is only one that would be fair, the abbility to get your gun back to prestice, if it would take 1 cleaningkit from worn to prestice or whatever but this is a nightmare, maybe they can add a rediclious minimal chance that a gun can jamm while prestice to get a little bit realisam, but this is redic. the silencer thing can stay like it is. dayz is possibly the game with most bugs of all time, then at least you should have trusty weapons.
Since the repair kit is mostly just metal items with the only items being used up cloth patches and a cleaner chemical the kit should be more rare and should be able to be refilled with pristine rags in game and the kit overall be pristine to start and worn to repair/refill and only damaged if it is shot or burned but that would not make sense to developers.

Good info WOBO!!!
Just a random request for a FAMAS G2 Felin (Pic rails and Stanag mags) would be an incredible rifle and would be another flavor of the AUG A1/AX, 74u/74, M16/M4 upgrade theme.
@WOBO, does armour piercing ammo wear out the rifle quicker than standard ammo of the same calibre in DayZ? Love your work 👍🇦🇺
Watch the video..
I learned it's similar while mining rocks and sharpening your pickaxe. I count my swings lol
Just like everything else, they have Broken ...... thanks for the heads up wobo
What about meleeing with your gun, does it also not damage it? And what is the formula for that
THANK YOU WOBO!!!!!
What about loading or unloading mags? I don't know if this is a mod but I've seen my mag go damaged from worn while unloading ammo.
Seee....things mustve changed. I distinctly remember seeing a 60rnd mag drop from pristine to worn whilst in the reloading rounds into it animation.
Great vidéo as always
Can you possibly do one on the mags and their durability or add it in a vid someday? I have mags go damaged as i load em into either the gun or bullets into the mag i cant figure it out tbh 😅
How many things do you have to repair to get your soft-skill all the way to the left? I've wanted to know this for years...
Hey Wobo is there any chance you can use your influence to encourage Bohemia to take legal action against the ghost mode and lag switch programs??
I find being able to attach a suppressor on a 380, then a 9mm, then a 45, is a little boring, I'd rather there was a type of suppressor for each ammo type. Obviously the bottle suppressor doesn't care about ammo type, but the manufactured ones should.
You can fit bigger suppressors on smaller calibers it just doesn’t work (as well) but it still definitely works
Also .380 and 9mm use the same suppressors I’m like 90% sure
These guns are made of aluminum. But they have a tungsten weight inside of them as they weigh alot.
This tool is so useful for raiding
Weapons cleaning kits take up 6 slots yet only work 4 times. That should be changed to either 4 slots 4 uses or 6 slots 6 uses.
That's an odd point to make, but it saves my inventory so sure. Sewing kits get two less uses.
@@zomzee Weapons that have removable butt stocks or fore grips should take up less room when said items are removed.
@@bobstupaksvegasworld4098 I can agree with that on folding stocks and the ability to fold them, mostly because the skorpion looks trashy with an unfolded stock.
Imagine if weapons in real life wore down as fast in this game. Weapon manufacturers would be sued into oblivion.
if a weapon spawns in as worn is it at max worn durability or does it spawn somewhere in between worn?
My suggestion to the suppressor matrix is to make suppressors harder to find....spwan less..... But last longer.
They already only spawn in gas zones lmao
@@slavmagician2898 then i suggest making them last longer lol.
I won't be counting shots
I will still repair damaged weapons right after they've gone to this state (it's crutial in fights)
I will definitely be using information in this video to save some gun kits on suppressors, as they work exactly the same regardless of durability
thank you for the video
Interesting that the CR-75 lasts almost 150 shots more than the glock. I always considered them the same and basically interchangeable, but with the same ammo, magainze capacity, and attachment options, seems like the CR-75 is basically a direct upgrade
Awsomwe! But it look like my supressor is different, sending me to the coast
loading rounds into the magazines did definitely damage them(the mags). it happened many a time
I think the best durability option for suppressors in this game would be to make them approximately five times more durable but unable to be repaired.
Agreed. Re-coring even a 1980’s model “in the field” wouldn’t be feasible, and center-fire cans don’t need cleaning. Makes it all a bit silly in a survival game.
Bolt action rifles take damage when loading and unloading ammo as well
A Suppressor's low durability level is one of my pet-hates in DayZ!
The magazines get damaged per round loaded into it. Condition of ammo affect the damage done to the mag.
In general, the rate of weapon damage is pretty stupid - it can make cleaning kits into an in-game currency. Thanks for working this out though...
BTW the 'wrapped' suppressors on Deer Isle seem to work almost forever.
Yeah most of the modded suppressors don't take any damage when shooting
I don’t know that I’ve ever lived long enough to wear out a modded server suppressor. Did make an entire wipe on TPC with 0 deaths once, too.
Hopefully these findings help the devs make some needed changes to weapon/suppressor durability. They can maintain the games authenticity and balance in the process.
The magazine definitely takes “damage” or uses durability whenever you are actually loading rounds into it I believe.
W wobo video
What about loading and unloading bullets into damaged/ badly damaged mags, will it damage the bullets?
It does damage the mag in both cases
@@WOBO what about the bullets tho? Do the bullets take more damage loading and unloading them in damaged/ badly damaged mags?
@@forsaken7976 QL makes no difference
so using weapon as melee doesn't damage it anymore either?
few hours ago after over a week firing around 10mags from my worn sval killing zombies(no players to find at area 42) finally a player run at me and my worn sval (prestine mag) jammed after 2 shots. i even janged my twich handle to jammedguncurse month ago after i got 4 jammed guns in 5 figherfits. there is only one that would be fair, the abbility to get your gun back to prestice, if it would take 1 cleaningkit from worn to prestice or whatever but this is a nightmare, maybe they can add a rediclious minimal chance that a gun can jamm while prestice to get a little bit realisam, but this is redic. the silencer thing can stay like it is. dayz is possibly the game with most bugs of all time, then at least you should have trusty weapons.
