The double tap is pretty useless as is that side button (like the iphone 15 side button) very basic function and could be much more useful. They need to fix the auto-brightness of the watch because in the dark it's way too dark and doesn't brighten up, to the point that it's unreadable even at the highest brightness level. Should be an easy fix so let's go Apple! Still love the watch, it's gorgeous especially with a titanium band.
Ha! A straight-forward explanation of why we Ultra wearers enjoy the change from the Series iWatch to the Ultra. Yet, not one moment detailing your trek up that lone sand dune in the middle of some desert. I’m 77. I finally took a chance last year on this uber-exercise freak watch because I liked the larger viewable screen, especially the brighter screen that was clearly visible in the bright sun on my daily 2mile walks and a battery that lasts all day. I use the new Modular Ultra face with the eight complications that give me all I could want to know about the current day: when it will rain; wind speed and direction; humidity; time; current conditions; day of week and date; sunrise/sunset and battery percentage. If they dramatically upgrade the Ultra next year, I’ll treat myself to that one. Because I can. And at 78+ one should treat yourself while you can.
Upgraded to the Ultra 2 from a series 5 cellular. I was happy with the 5 but the upgrade has been totally amazing. I would leave my phone in the car to run in the store or on my desk if working around the house comfortable with just my watch. We live in a rural area and now I’m completely comfortable leaving my phone home when I run errands 25 - 30 miles away with just my watch. Cellular connection is massively improved and the Ultra’s speakers and mic’s provide the same quality as my iPhone 13 Pro for calls on it. Having had the series 5 for 5 years I think the Ultra 2 will be on my wrist a bit longer.

I've had three Apple Watches prior to the U2 - this is what I've been waiting for! I have large wrists, and I do dive and a lot of outdoor activities. The U2 is perfect. I'm really hoping for more uses for the "double-tap" in new software updates. It's very limited now, but somewhat useful. If you're a tiny person, it may be too much watch given it's size, but for me, it's the first Watch that I've LOVED!

I purchased it for the 3000 nits as it will be great for scuba diving. That bloody double tap is something I can’t go back on, and I’m only using the accessibility feature not the hardware version yet. and I am double tapping everything. From dismissing notifications to pausing my TV. I love it. I use the action buttons for 1. turning on my smart scale 2. turning on my lights scene. 3. Start the paddling workout.
I’m addicted to my watch too. I wear it every single day. I have the first Apple Watch Ultra with the yellow ocean band. Before that I had the series 6, the series 4 and the series 2. I love my Apple Watch especially for work. Since I’m an assistant manager I need to be able to see when my manger or one of my employees needs to get a hold of me quickly. I’m always also looking at creating different watch faces how to get most use out of it.
Have you objectively tested your Ultra 2 GPS when running? I have purchased one and want to make my own comparison with series 7, but hesitate if it worths the extra money from series 9. Thank you for your review!

The Ultra 2 is finally available as a refurb from Apple. My old watch was 3 years old and needed a new battery very soon. With the refurb price and selling my old watch, the price was almost reasonable. I was worried it would be too big but I have admit, I really like it. It was only available with the Ocean band, which I didn't think I would like but I like that too. Very comfortable and light. I have not signed up for cellular but I am considering. Great vid! Great video Terren! I purchased one recently, upgraded from Series 7 cellular. Quite happy with it. My main motive was the bigger screen, durability (so no case to put on) and battery life... everything else is just a bonus for me, the features etc. Also, can you suggest a vertical stand / charging mount for the watch. I have been unable to find one here in India (on Amazon). I just need a mount which is.like a case for encasing the charger and cable. Like on they have in the stores.
Its the same as the first one and has loads of issues. I live in a pretty busy suburb of Pittsburgh and couldnt get mine to load the map on a run. And the battery underperforms and cant get me through 2 days camping without me turning it off. Completely rubbish. Sold it and went back to the 7.
I just upgraded from series 8 to ultra 2. I used gestures on series 8. It’s available on the series 8. Battery is 10x better, definitely still an upgrade.
I upgraded from Ultra 1 to 2 to make it a bit future-proofed in case Apple decided to add more double-tap-based functions. It does get better battery life-one day of normal usage takes about 12% of the battery.
Does your screen flash yellow when you take the watch off? My Series 8 flashes a yellow screen for a split second. Apple replaced it but it does the same on the new watch.
I wish it was just a bit smaller. I settled on the Series 9 /45 MM as it was the largest that fit under a tailored shirt sleeve and purchased leather straps to match the suit I'm wearing that day.

I skipped Ultra v1. Something I didn’t realise was the Ultra looks masculine and suits my wrist/ body. My other Apple Watch now looks feminine. I have to use my more rugged straps on my 44mm watch to masculinise it.
It’s liberating as you say. I use just watch on cellular on most days. It would be interesting to hear of other users battery experiences when leaving the iPhone at home.
There are a few reviews of people leaving their phone at home and just using the ultra. Check em out. That’s the main reason why I want an ultra, stay less connected to social media

So I have anything that I don’t need turned off. All the little features that use battery are off. No AOD. I have only call/text notifications on. The day I went out for about 8 hours I lost 12%. That’s incredible.
As long as it’s a reputable organization carbon credits usually have another company either not pollute what they normally would have or they plant more trees and stuff that makes the environment healthier.
Do you need an active cellular plan for the GPS to work on AWU2. I'm thinking of buying Ultra 2 but not activating the cellular plan. What do you suggest?
@@RolandKoller90I don't think so. If the watch has GPS circuitry but no active Internet connection, it can still be used for navigation with offline maps or if map data is pre-loaded via Wi-Fi.
Oh seeing all the videos of Ultra 2 is making me want to buy one however its expensive upgrade from my series 7 its basically the same thing with extra action button which is kind of useless as you only can map it to one thing like stop watch at the time (would love to see is working as timer normally and when working out mark a segment for example) 2- has a siren im probably never gonna use, 3 diving computer/mode-im not gonna dive at all, 4 temperature tracking only for womens period lol, and also so chunky its just too big. Things i like is battery life, brighter screen and flat screen, double tap and the multifunction/exclusive watchface for it its not a reason to upgrade.

I hope that blood pressure comes to this watch as it costs as much as a phone. 😂 My series seven access to the blood oxygen sensor- my Ultra 2 doesn't but ya, you already know🫡 😂 also, I miss TH-cam for Apple Watch.. I really like the Ultra. At the moment I use a Garmin Instinct 2 Solar and I get at least 41 days battery life. It lacks the colour screen, phone calle and music, but it's a very good multifunction fitness tracker and I can get texts on it. It buzzes when my phone rings, but that's about it. I like the rugged look and feel of it, but I'm also an Iphone user and if I was going to buy an Apple Watch, the Ultra 2 would be the one, I think. I'm too used to a long battery life and not sure I could get on with the series 9 or SE. I love that ruler strap too. Very nice.
Just charge your iPhone and apple watch ultra 2 in charging dock beside your bed tru the night. You’ll remove your watch from you arm and put it on table etc anyway
I don’t think you should replace your garmin for the ultra. You should see the ultra as a recreational watch and the Garmin as a sports watch. You put on your garmin on when you put on your sports outfit. Ultra for everything else.
I can’t believe I didn’t get the ultra sooner. I seriously thought I would use it for specific use and I will be using my other Apple Watches more often but it’s the other way round. One of my AP hasn’t been on my wrist for 5 days, I had the AWU2 for 2 weeks.
when they claimed the carbon neutral I knew immediately "carbon credits" and those are based on legal requirements combined with negative carbon emissions by some companies, which is good but still that means the product did emitted and is compensating with carbon extraction from the air however this means reducing the speed of decarbonation of the atmosphere.
I hate when companies say carbon neutral because the factory’s, freight cargo ships, air plans, mining tools/vehicles, delivery trucks and the cars all employees drive to make it possible to get a way CB in your hand ISNT CARBON NEUTRAL ! 1:56
2:10 Siri is useless. I’m actually surprised they didn’t use Siri to screen calls, Siri to summarize voice memos (a feature coming soon to Google devices with Google assistant), etc. I don’t understand features like improving stickers. Was that a feature that people really cared about this increased someone’s productivity on their phones? Like what PM was like “yes you know what we need to dedicate 4 sprints too? Stickers!!!”
My Watch Series 4 is brighter than my Ultra 2 when in Dark environments. Simply at bed with the lights turned off… my S4 is 3 times brighter than my Ultra 2. It’s ridiculous

You can't install the Google Assistant app on the AWU?

Cellular and GPS are not linked to each other
You don’t need it activated AS LONG AS you have your iPhone with you. If you plan to leave your phone home, you’ll need cellular.

It lacks the colour screen, phone calle and music, but it's a very good multifunction fitness tracker and I can get texts on it. It buzzes when my phone rings, but that's about it. I like the rugged look and feel of it, but I'm also an Iphone user and if I was going to buy an Apple Watch, the Ultra 2 would be the one, I think. I'm too used to a long battery life and not sure I could get on with the series 9 or SE. I love that ruler strap too. Very nice.
Just charge your iPhone and apple watch ultra 2 in charging dock beside your bed tru the night. You’ll remove your watch from you arm and put it on table etc anyway
I don’t think you should replace your garmin for the ultra. You should see the ultra as a recreational watch and the Garmin as a sports watch. You put on your garmin on when you put on your sports outfit. Ultra for everything else.

I can’t believe I didn’t get the ultra sooner. I seriously thought I would use it for specific use and I will be using my other Apple Watches more often but it’s the other way round. One of my AP hasn’t been on my wrist for 5 days, I had the AWU2 for 2 weeks.

I like your review but have a different time seeing how you could ever get 4 days of battery. I was able to get 36 hours at best.

when they claimed the carbon neutral I knew immediately "carbon credits" and those are based on legal requirements combined with negative carbon emissions by some companies, which is good but still that means the product did emitted and is compensating with carbon extraction from the air however this means reducing the speed of decarbonation of the atmosphere.
I hate when companies say carbon neutral because the factory’s, freight cargo ships, air plans, mining tools/vehicles, delivery trucks and the cars all employees drive to make it possible to get a way CB in your hand ISNT CARBON NEUTRAL ! 1:56

2:10 Siri is useless. I’m actually surprised they didn’t use Siri to screen calls, Siri to summarize voice memos (a feature coming soon to Google devices with Google assistant), etc. I don’t understand features like improving stickers. Was that a feature that people really cared about this increased someone’s productivity on their phones? Like what PM was like “yes you know what we need to dedicate 4 sprints too? Stickers!!!”

My Watch Series 4 is brighter than my Ultra 2 when in Dark environments. Simply at bed with the lights turned off… my S4 is 3 times brighter than my Ultra 2. It’s ridiculous
