    Man, I just finished replacing the power steering pump on my wife’s Odyssey. I’m not even close to being a mechanic. I could not have done it without this video. Thanks for posting, it saved me a ton of money.

    Thank you so much for this video! You have given me (a non-mechanic) the confidence to tackle this job without paying someone else to do it.

    • @jonhnnyutah2529
      @jonhnnyutah2529 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To properly flush the system, you need to turnt he steering wheel left/right multiple times to get all the fluid out. It helps to have someone pour the steering fluid while you're turning the steering wheel.

      @@jonhnnyutah2529 Is this process applied to both draining before the pump replacement and fill the reservoir after complete replcament? THanks

    My Honda Odessey 2010 has some fluid leak and some noise when turn on the engine. The Honda dealer said it was a leak from the high pressure hose. They recommend to replace the high pressure hose, the steering pump and flush. They quoted me about $1,550. Thanks for the video, I think I can do that. How do you repalce the high pressure hose to take care of the leak?

    Just took a look and saw that here was some movement of the power steering fluid at 21:54. Is that normal or not? I replaced the o-rings and I still see that.

    Great video. You should reward yourself for a job well done by getting a pair of flat-blade vise grips. They make dealing with those spring hose clamps very easy.

    How do you know the low or high pressure hose?

    • @Grantlander1
      @Grantlander1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Low pressure hose is the short hose from the pump to the reservoir. The High pressure goes out from the pump to the lower part of the vehicle to connect to the steering rack and pinion

      You don't want to run old dirty power steering fluid through a brand new pump. That's probably why this one died in the first place cuz he never changed the PS fluid.

  • @daveclark8337

    Those o-rings go bad all the time. I would've just cleaned the reservior but bought a new inlet hose and o-rings. That's where the air leaks in from.

    I can't find the bolt to loosen the belt!!

    • @Grantlander1
      @Grantlander1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dylan Shabtai it’s not a bolt that you physically take out. It’s a fixed hex head in the center of the tension pulley. The tension pulley is spring loaded, so turn the fix hex head with a wrench to compress the tension pulley spring. Once you compress the spring, you will produce a clearance between the belt and the tension pulley. Hold it in place while you slip the belt off.

      @@Grantlander1 thanks for that. I've done it before in a different model Odyssey. Turns out there are two versions of the engine. Some have a 19mm bolt, others have a 14mm located else where. There's a sticker on the side and depending on the number...
