    I had to go back and watch this a number of times to fully appreciate the craftsmanship in this build. I will serve as a great guide and tutorial for me down the road. Thank you for sharing this with all of us.

    I love to see all of the work you have put in so far! Great job! In 1985, I got to see Des Moines, Salem, and Newport News at the Philadelphia mothball fllet. Even in the deteriorated state they were in, they were still very impressive and handsome vessels. Thank you for sharing!
    I myself have just about enough patience to do all of the Photo etch for a modern submarine! (none)

    Never heard of this kit manufacturer before. You did an stunning job on all the PE parts, looks phantastic! Almost a pity if paint covers all the bling ;-) Keep up the good work.

    Stunning assembly and build techniques. This will be most useful in my project the USS Salem particularly the brass gun barrels, PE in steel and brass. Awaiting the next stage with great interest

    I noticed you were using what appears to be a soldering iron to attach brass PE parts to the plastic parts. That is an interesting idea that I am going to experiment with.

    This had to taken weeks to build. Great work. I kinda like the gold look and would've paint it. Is that what your doing? Lol

    Really great work on the photo etch. Keep it up ! Your work encourages and motivates me to try to get better at modeling. I primarily do armor but as a youth 50 years ago I did a few ships, the only kits available to me were Revel, 720 scale.

      I read a review that claims Cleveland kits is more sophisticated than this one.

      Hey @@MonimixModel I recently received my uss Cleveland and don’t have the wooden deck do you have any advice for painting the deck?

    • @MonimixModel
      @MonimixModel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Ct-ym2fq You can try spraying a layer of blue first.
      Then use the blue mixed with some black to paint the edges of the deck and building contact.
      After that, use black oil paint to strengthen the deck seams.
      Finally, use a gray oil paint wash.
      If you have the patience, you can also use different shades of blue or wood color to stain individual pieces of the deck.

    This is wonderful work. Do you have a rough sense of how many hours the whole project took ? My wife just gifted me the USS Birmingham from Very Fire 1/350 (Deluxe Version same as yours) and this looks quite intimidating, especially the PE parts.

    Really nice work. The files you use for trimming. Are they just files or for a special purpose. I know about jeweler files. I used used a couple of files designed for work cleaning the surface of blades in jet engines. Small. Different cut rates etc. I'm just asking

    So I am starting my first ship. I usually do 1:35 armor, so this is all new to me. Are you using a soldering iron on the PE parts?

    • @MonimixModel
      @MonimixModel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but I did not use solder to link one PE part and another PEs on this model.

    Is this one kit with detail set and the parts or are this one set and one detail set?
    Because in the discription there are two sets...

    What is that black solution you are putting on seams?

    • @MonimixModel
      @MonimixModel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      COLLE 21 BLACK COLLE. This glue flows very well. It can leave the least noticeable glue marks.

  • @witeshade

    This kit is basically the same as the uss salem model that very fire sells, right?

    • @MonimixModel
      @MonimixModel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes. just a little different on photo etch and resin parts.
