Interresting enough, each of the three Admirals represents one form of Justice: Kuzan represent the most human form of justice. He does follow the law, but also see it flaws and is aware, that good and evil is often dependend of the point of view. As an example: If he witness a man stealing some food for his starving family, he would stop him, but he wouldn´t turn him in and would most likely help that man to get food without stealing. Borsalino is the neutral justice. He just does things ater the book, nothing more, nothing less. He would catch the thief and bring him in. If the owner of the would to fill a charge for that crime, it is fine. If he doesn´t and ask to release that man, thats fine too. Sakazuki on the other hand stands for total justice. The Law is everything, no matter what. Even when it makes a part of the people to slaves and another person is allowed to murder on the street. If you don´t follow the law, you are evil, regardless if it would kill you, following it. He is strongly supporting the idea, that some people are just better from birth and other are born evil. In case of the foodthief, he would catch him, with all force, emidietly turn him in with the hardest punishment and would let the starving family pay an high price of money for the damage of the theft.
WOW, nicely observed! Now, two years later? Sakazuki is the Marine Fleet Admiral and Borsalino is still an Admiral. So, in your point of view, which form of justice does Issho (Fujitora) represents?
Atopico8 To be honest, i didn´t see enough of him till now, to make complete verdict, but from what i saw iwould say he is lawful good and stands somewhere between Kuzan and Borsalino. He takes the law very serious and follows the book, but he seems to think, that the law should serve the people not the other way around like Sakazuki. Clear to see as he first ordered his man to make sure the people of Dress Rosa are protected, befor they go after the pirates in the colloseum. Also he seems to beliefe in the good of the people and can be a bit to thrusting. However i think he will not cross his bondaries like Kuzan did, and keep it by the book. With the example of the foodthief: He will catch the thief and bring him in. However he will consider the situation the man is in and try to make sure the punishment is less serious, as far his position as Admiral allows him. Mabe make arrangments with the owner of the food, that the thief works to pay for the damage and has way to help his family without braking the law, after his sentence is served.
shadowhunter0815 If I remember correctly, Fujitora has already pulled a Kuzan. I might just be recalling events wrong, but I believe he let the straw hats or Sabo or someone evade him at some point on purpose. Because he knows that they're the best chance against Dolfy. Oh, and Kizaru has been confirmed as "Lazy Justice." Just a fun little tidbit. Lol
People don’t give akainu enough credit. From a moral perspective, he is a dick. But listen to what he says “ if even one scholar escapes, then all the sacrifices will have been for nothing.” He is saying that the government made up its mind to the buster call- and so being not 100% is actually just being wasteful on death. And Robin proved him right. Robin escaped from that ship- so she will read the history of the world, but if the history of the world was gonna be shared any ways, than the people on the boat really did die for nothing. They could have just been let on that island and the end result would be the same. This was what akainu was fearing. Imagine if you know 1 of your pet has rabies, so rather than kill all, you kill few select ones and realize the one with rabies was still alive and it spread. The death of the others were in vain while of you had killed all from start, the rabies solution would be not in vain.
@@Nosirt , your rabbit analogy is the opposite of what the context of the story is trying to portray though because it’s more like the O’Hara civilians are like an ant farm that was about to reveal the actual real Void Century to the entire world of One Piece, but since Akainu didn’t want that information to be leaked he nuked that ant farm completely leaving only ant left that won’t know everything about the Void Century until she reaches Laugh Tale with Luffy, so yes in a way Akainu isn’t moral in his pursuit of justice because even Sengoku the former Fleet Admiral before Akainu wanted Akoiji to be the next Fleet Admiral after him, but the Gorosei and commander in chief Kong chose Akainu instead.
@@RoronoaZoro-ur6hr Aokiji left Robin ? @Vongola Atzi That’s a very interesting take. However, you need to remember that pirates only became relevant to world affairs about a century ago with the rise of the Giant Pirates. I guess you could tailor that theory to the last 100 years.

If only Akainu had realized that this would shake Aokiji's faith enough to spare Nico Robin and actively help her escape, to her path of bringing about the WG's downfall
Did anyone else realize that Akainu seemed actually sad and burdened by what he did in the first shot but still thinks he did what should be done. Damn I cannot wait for what made him this way Oda will give us a gold flashback
Seeing how tightly he’s clenching his frown, which is almost to the point of quivering, along with the fact that his head is down and is looking away from the burning ship with his eyes shadowed, I think this is when he had committed to absolute justice. Edit: This scene for reference 0:17
@@asishansumannayak6004 Thats one thing i like about Akainu, he's not sadistic, he's pragmatic All the monstrosities he does throughout One Piece, he does it because he thinks its the right thing to do, not because he likes it Hence why he looks down and hide his face during ohara

Akainu's failure to kill every last Oharan scholar nearly led to Croc destroying the existing world with Pluton. Goddamn it Sakazuki, should have been more thorough.
+Lollipopfop Croc had plans for world domination though. He had bigger plans than just Alabasta, which he didn't even need Pluton to conquer. Robin was still working together with a dangerous terrorist to find an Ancient Weapon.
Akainu is a perfect character for a switch. He's been used his entire life and hates the CDs but respects the elders. After finding out the elders bow down to a king, Akainu's sense of absolute justice could make him turn on the Elders and CDs, and boy wouldn't that be interesting.
Akainu, Kizaru and Aokiji probably wasn't as strong then, they might have also been more powerful as well. Rank is more than just power and strength, its more about being a wise and effective leader, look at Sengoku, there was a reason he was admiral, but he probably could've been defeated by any of the admirals at the time (probably)
Will Dumble I agree on that but admirals are always mentioned in the show as "World Government's strongest forces" and it is hinted that way most of the time. Some even say that members of the Gorosei might be stronger than the admirals but I really doubt it.
jimmyking92 Yeah I'd hate it that Gorosei would be the strongest to be honest, they say the admirals are the WG greatest power so it wouldn't make sense to me.
@@SaifKhan-ub9vf I think sakazuki is badass and didn't like ace that much. Just have seen a lot of people go "oh its just how he sees justice" when in reality it feels like his character is written to be a cold psychopath for empire
Every marine should be like fujitora, not like akainu. If they do then marine would be counted in bad organisation that would kill anyone who comes in their way doesn't matter if the person is innocent or not. Sengoku was better fleet admiral than him, took the blame on himself after shanks stopped the war.
As horrific as that scene was, knowing what we know now, I'm forced to admit that Sakazuki did make a smart call here. See, the thing about extremists is, they think in extremes. If an Emperor of the Sea gets their hooks into a vengeful scholar, then that's an Ancient Weapon falling right into said Emperor's hands. This was the absolute worst-case scenario that Sakazuki had wanted to avoid, and 22 years later, that worst-case scenario has come to pass with Robin being Emperor Straw Hat Luffy's underling, never mind the fact that we as readers know Luffy has no interest in the Ancient Weapons.
Akainu wasnt ordered to do this. Given Spandine’s reaction, destroying the ship wasn’t part of the plan from the higher ups. If it was, they wouldn’t have sent the ship to begin with. This was Akainu’s own decision.
I can't believe I realized about this after Saturn said that Robin is the kid that Akainu couldn't kill in the past. So late in the story, I'm freaking out.
The more I think about it, Akainu seems really similar to Thanos. I think it was hard for Sakazuki to kill all of the innocent people on that ship. You can see it in his face that he didn't do it without a second though I believe. It's just the absolute code that he holds himself to that makes him believe that such a horrible action will in the end be the right choice. Just like how Thanos thinks he is actually saving people by killing half of the universes population. Some of the things he has to do he gives a second thought and don't come naturally to him, but he is willing to do whatever he has to so to follow his code. Both are very interesting charecters, and I can't wait to see Akainus background so maybe we get a glimpse of why he is so immoral.
Yeah, seeing how tightly clenched his face and frown were and how tightly he said his words, this was probably the moment that he had committed himself to absolute justice.
You can see Akainu really didn't want to do it, but it had to be done. If a single scholar escaped then they could read the Ponegliffs and revive the ancient weapons which would destroy the world. Akainu did it for justice.
@@lukeydukeyyy4941 Who tf is OP ? and what does ace have anything to do with anything ? you get over it I’m right Akainu doesn’t care about anyone’s life he definitely wanted to blow up that ship he doesn’t regret anything
Why didn't he have the refugees checked for scholars before they officially went out to sea? That was not Justice (which by definition is equal distribution of punishment and commensurate action and a concept many of you have so many personal views on it's meaningless to define what it is anymore), that was just an execution. Plus Robin escaped, so the whole thing was meaningless.
Ibrahim Hassan No. How would have they been able to recognize a student? Besides, it's not Akainu fault if Robin fled, thus making the destruction of Ohara pointless. It was Kuzan's fault.
Sakazuki & kizaru were both sengoku's subordinate, they learned from him that justice must be above all, crimes must be punished accordingly, Sengoku was an assertive man, but both of them were wrong to translate sengoku's principal, according to akainu justice is the opposite word for crime after being decided, you cannot put them together at the same time to deny orders, that left no space for conscience at all and defy any of justification. Different with kuzan, he is a warm person he was garp's subordinate who taught him that justice must be preserve sometimes with little justification, that raised some conscience on his heart until he becomes admiral, ironically, with friendship between sengoku and garp, sengoku finally learns that he was wrong and he is changed after his retirement, he follows garp's advice to make kuzan fleet admiral and as we guest of course akainu rebels.
What? did you forget that while escaping impel down Luffy throw a ton crap of people down the boiling water/blood? and during the war of the best PEOPLE ACTUALLY KILL EACH OTHER. And luffy's crew probably kill a lot too, but if they make a big deal out of every single person they killed then they shouldn't even considers themselves pirate
Imagine If Garp was there an saw that, pretty sure Garp would give akainu the beatdown of his life. It would be a prime Garp the legendary marine who fought Rocks, survive and won (with help of course) vs Young vicealmirald (maybe without fruit) Akainu, akainu would die and even if he didn't die he would gain a trauma and fear so strong to Garp that he would be his source of nightmares
Uh even nowadays Garp could dominate Akainu. I’d say current Garp is stronger than Marineford Whitebeard, since they both equaled Roger, but Whitebeard aged worse and was disease ridden. Above that a terribly injured, sick, old Whitebeard dominated Akainu in their second fight. Now imagine what an only old Garp could do. Remember he’s even stronger than Sengoku. Also don’t forget, Marco held back Akainu for a bit, whereas Garp one punches Marco. No matter what time and age, Garp can destroy Akainu.

The thing is, Sakazuki did the right thing for the Marines. He says that a single scholar escaping would be enough to present a substantial threat to the World Government. The fact that Robin survived and what she did thereafter is a testament to that. Even before she joined the Straw Hats, Robin very nearly handed over the location of Pluton, one of the ancient weapons, to Crocodile, and now with the Straw Hats she is closer than ever to finding out the True History. If that's what the Marines wanted to prevent, Sakazuki did the correct thing.
***** aren't they all like famous scholars/scientists or whatever you'd think that it would be pretty obvious which ones which (i'm basing this off the fact that they managed to round them up at the center of the island without putting any civilians into the circle.)
I would guess that the people they rounded up there just happened to be the ones who were working inside the Tree of Knowledge at the particular time they showed up. After all, Robin was a scholar and she wasn't there. Whilst the scholars might be famous, they are famous as scholars, i.e, because of their writings; and Ohara is a very secretive nation; it is unlikely that their faces are immediately recognisable.

If u suspect all then put them in level 6 of impeldown no need for killing them but meh.

This is why one piece is so good you have all these grey characters who aren't just evil or good for no reason. Underrated comment
People don’t give akainu enough credit. From a moral perspective, he is a dick. But listen to what he says “ if even one scholar escapes, then all the sacrifices will have been for nothing.”
He is saying that the government made up its mind to the buster call- and so being not 100% is actually just being wasteful on death.
@@Nosirt , your rabbit analogy is the opposite of what the context of the story is trying to portray though because it’s more like the O’Hara civilians are like an ant farm that was about to reveal the actual real Void Century to the entire world of One Piece, but since Akainu didn’t want that information to be leaked he nuked that ant farm completely leaving only ant left that won’t know everything about the Void Century until she reaches Laugh Tale with Luffy, so yes in a way Akainu isn’t moral in his pursuit of justice because even Sengoku the former Fleet Admiral before Akainu wanted Akoiji to be the next Fleet Admiral after him, but the Gorosei and commander in chief Kong chose Akainu instead.

because pirates = bad regardless of how nice they are and everything else is good because they're not pirates
because if he complains hes gonna get removed from the navy but he hates celestrial dragons and the shichibukais
Akainu hates the Celestial Dragons but the legitimacy of the WG is based on them. They descend from the founders after all.
@Vongola Atzi That’s a very interesting take.

@@Jamm6295 Yes Akainu is a very evil man
Akainu be like "i wont give you a whole day to be grieving"
Akainu in a nutshell “The ends justify the means” No different than many glorified world figures if you asked me.
That’s why he’s the best marine in the series
“Evil must be completely wiped out.”
Yet you still keep living Akainu.
@abbasalqattan2759😂😂😂 sure dreaming is free
He is living to make one piece actually entertaining
I like Akainu’s style, hes my favorite character in one piece 😈
No way this was in my recommended just after chapter 1066 dropped
Never understood the logic of "Buster call activated, but let everyone leave first before destroying the island"
Well those who truly were involved were trying to save what research they did.
The head of everything, clover, died.
The others involved threw the books in the lake in order to save them from the fire, Saul and other giants started collecting them and taking them to elbaf (after 6 or so months).
This is why one piece is so good you have all these grey characters who aren't just evil or good for no reason. Akainu has a point with his view that if they were to let that ship go and a scholar managed to sneak on, then their entire mission and all the deaths that happened today would have been pointless. Then you have Kuzan who balance's that out by saying that view was going to far. This builds up so much for their future battle and it makes that fight so much more thrilling to hear about. We knew that it was only a matter of time before these two guys clashed due to their different view points on how far justice should go.
if corona existed in OP, akainu would destroy virus by killing all patients himself.
Everyone: "Oh wow i cant wait to see Akainu's backstory and why he is such a justice douche."
*Backstory* :
*Pirate ate his breakfast*
Akainu: "This world shall know justice!"
Parallels to current events bring me back here
You are right Akainu. Evil has to be eradicated. Please start with yourself.
If you truly know about the evil of piracy and maybe why his motives are twisted and unjust you would be doing this shit too.
@@isaiahkayode6526 , as Eustass Kid himself said himself pirates like himself only exists because of the World Government being corruptly incompetent and not because of them being pirates for the sole sake of enjoying criminals, and they are saints in comparison to the World Government.
@@RoronoaZoro-ur6hrbut but akinu is so cool tho
I am pretty sure, that Akainu has some horrible memories of his past, which is why he hates pirates so much.
Think of Hancock, she also hates any man, regardless if good or bad, only because of her past.
ℬoa ℋancock Except for Luffy...
James Lennon
Which is a special case.
Yeah I usually think that a lot when I see him..Maybe he lost a loved one or ones when he was little to a group of pirates or something.
Donovan Jones OR maybe he was a former child soldier whose view of the world was warped by someone he cared about.
+ℬoa D. ℋancock You shielding me?
Even a CP9 would've thought this was to much.
no half measures waltuh
You know that mustve both been entirely unplanned and horrific because even oakiji was like "dude, wtf"
Akainu is the marine equivalent to a dangerous abusive dad who justifies himself by saying he knows whats best.
Soooo... Basically endeavor from mha
@I hate toxic fans lol
@I hate toxic fans "wasn't a bad dad"....I think every one of his kids would like to have a word with you about that....especially shoto, who he only had and trained to make a weapon he could use to surpass all might.
"Evil must be eradicated."
Alas, I'm dying to hear you say that again... before Luffy kills you.
Luffy doen'st kill dumbass
Well he gonna beat his ass sooner or later not to mention sabo definitely wants to kill Akainu.
u fuckers need to realise that he is not a simple marine , he is the fleet admiral and oda said he will be a major antagonist hahhaha dumbasses
@@ttknumbertrainedtokiss4794 why do you idiots believe sabo going to kill him? Are you really that blind.
@@ttknumbertrainedtokiss4794 I don't think it will be Luffy or Sabo who kills AKainu, Luffy isn't a murderer. It's still unclear if Kaido and Big Mom died, but if they did, it was the lava he iuintentionally kicked them into that did it, he just knocked them out .
0:07 That's the face of *"how nuts can this guy be"*
Marines: hunt down a pirate: ❌
Marines: Hunt down an innocent 8 year old: ✅
My second fav character akainu. Love him. Dude is an ultra savage.
FAVORITE WHAT?
He didn't hesitate killing civilians. What cruel guy Sakazuki is
