That is not correct, it’s just your ability to use them that gets worst when you don’t use them for a long time. Jotaro not being able to stop time as long is because he doesn’t do it often.

Stand arrow upgrades aside, Koichi breaks this rule and I think it has to do with a special midpoint case when the arrow cannot kill the person but also cannot give a proper stand. Koichi was supposed to die when shot by the arrow because he is not ready yet, but Josuke fixed him which results to forcefully extracting Koichi's underdeveloped stand.

Levi.JustLevi I believe the devil palm don't kill the person if he is unworthy, only by exposure to the meteorite grants anyone a stand, maybe Johnny was just too immature and not ready for the full extent of his power. It is one of the ones I'd like to call: Forced Stands, they are imperfect but can be developed if overcome. Holly's was a forced stand, if she was say, healed by Crazy D while she was suffering, she might be able to be like Koichi, another forced stand is a stand disc user (part 6 spoiler) and Emporio is one of the people that overcame the imperfection.
nahhh everybody can develop their stand. rohan did so. he got rid of the "rule" of people having to see his work to be opened up to it and for his ability to unfold.
I feel like the argument comes down to anybody can develop nen to be stronger but the ability for a stand to develop is limited by the direct rules of the stand. Sure nen also has the memory overload thing, but I feel like this can be overcome with practice or rewritten. A stand with F developmental potential will always be E while an A is destined to develop down to E.

Pink Spirit acts only happen if your stand has high growth potential while requiem happens if you shoot your self with the stand arrow and survive or shoot your stand with the arrow
Pink Spirit Stands with acts are simply stands that don't start of at peak strength and must grow into their full strength. Requiem stands are caused by the Requiem arrow forcefully altering a stand's ability to be the perfect counter to the issues the user is facing at the time. they're not a evolution of your stand, it's trading your stand for a stronger one.

Tony Molins Those are rare exceptions that occur under specific circumstances. Stands with acts are just stands that haven't reached their full potential and require evolution to do so, and White Snake's transformations were a matter of circumstance with him having to accomplish a specific procedure to enable the change to occur. Essentially, those are exceptions to the rule.
BuscaDiamantes 123 Joseph got Hermit Purple when Dio was pierced by the stand arrow, due to having Jonathon's body and blood, that's how all the Joestars have stands now.
Santanas Kicks Remeberance Yeah Genthru's don't even make him immune to his explosions. But his other ability is kinda useful except it takes a long time to explode.
It's true but Genthru is still a very proeficient Nen user, with his speed and by using Ken/Ren/Ko he could be able to beat Kira with one hit before he could press the button or even touch him

Actually, even if you can control Nen, you still can't just see it by default. There's a specific Nen technique you need to learn that lets you see it. You can master everything else about it, but if you don't know that technique, ya ain't seeing it. Also, I'm pretty sure Dio trained The World to extend his time stop length. Also also, you completely forgot Nen contracts. You potentially COULD counter busted stands with this ability, since it basically involves risking, or just giving up your life, in order to get busted powers. For example, Killua can make himself extremely fast, but with a Nen contract, he could get the power to speed himself up so much that he stops time.
Not saying the stand isn't better, but that's on the rare chance that you have it. There are more people who could sacrifice themselves for a busted ability countering a single, unique stand.
Dio wasn't training to use The World, he was learning how to use it, just like Jotaro in the fight with Dio that only could stop time for an instant, but in the end of this same fight he stops time for 2 seconds. Dio always had the potential to stop time for longer periods, but at first he needed to learn how to use that ability, he needed that the time stops became something natural to him. Plus he was not at his full potential because he was not totally fused with Jonathan body. Sorry for my bad english, i can understand it very well, but writing is not my strong point.
I think learning is a better word to describe, but training fits too. My point is, he was not training The World, he was training his control over The World, He didn't make The World better in any way, The World always had the ability to stop time for 5 seconds or longer, But Dio could not do that because he didn't know how to use the ability properly.
Honestly I think it depends on the users of both nen and stands, though I kinda hate my own opinion. If you have a fight with precrusaders Jotaro and Gon, much more even a battle; Jotaro (with The World) v Gon, Gon likely loses. Switch Gon out with Netero, and then I'd say that Jotaro probably loses. Since stands and nen are made in such a way that it varies per character skill and strength, its really hard to compare the toward without having to look at the matchups alone.

There's one important factor, you can't train stands but they can become stronger as you age around your twenties or thirties. If you already have a pretty strong stand it would become more strong as you went into your peak of age. And I don't know if this works but meditation and other mental training could also power you stand but I don't know for sure since it was really went into in the series.
If Nen users could see Stands and vice versa I'd love to see Hisoka v Josuke No real reason I just want to see how Hisoka would handle Crazy Diamond's ability

You should do a video on the mundane utility of stands. Like grabbing the remote that's out of reach, moving house made super easy with Enigma, no need for clothing or showers with Yellow Temperance, no need to worry about pockets with Stick Fingers, etc.
I love both honestly. Both are incredibly creative and complex and most of the times characters have to think their ways out instead of overpowering their opponents.
What if the Nen users got shot by the Stand arrow, there is a high chance that they will develop a stand since they have strong life force but i wonder will the stand abilities be compatible with the nen abilities or different, like Killua for example he developed electricity power nen abilities so if he developed a stand will its power be electricity also maybe like Hot Chili Pepper.
It'd be something like say Hermit Purple or Tusk in the fact that they are Stands that augment the user's abilities(Spin for Johnny and Hamon for Joseph). If anything it'd be something that represents their Nen abilities(or main nen ability) and augment it somehow. Also, inexperienced members would most likely be like Johnny who had to train himself in the art of 'Spin' before Tusk's true power was revealed
I don't know about part 7 yet, since i'm an anime watcher only, but a stand like Hermit Purple won't be useful to someone like Killua, in Joseph case he needed a Stand that can help him conduct Hamon since he can't shoot Hamon from the air, he needs to attach it to something, but for Killua it's another story, he can generate and shoot electricity on his own and even from a long distance so he doesn't need vines or wires to do that, on the other hand, Killua developed an ability called God Speed, it's a great ability but it has its drawbacks like it takes a lot of energy and stamina and doesn't last long and leave Killua weakened and out of Juice, we all saw that when he was fighting Youpi so he needs a Stand that can fill this Gap and punch really hard, i saw Hot Chili Pepper jumping around and hit Crazy Diamond the same way Killua was jumping around and hit Youpi, But Hot Chili Pepper was doing it perfectly without drawbacks that's why this Stand will be helpful to Killua and support him in battle, since from what i know about Jojo that the stand has to be useful to the user and satisfy his needs add to that Killua is an assassin so he needs his stand to be something strong, fast and stealthy and Hot Chili Pepper fits these categories.

Polnareff had a stand that he "TRAINED"(his words not mine) to obtain and Avdul,Iggy,Kakyoin and Joseph (He had HP in BT as stated by Araki it was just that he couldn't see it) all had one before they were introduced so yeah it can happen but it's rare mainly cause Araki changed the concept in part 4,5 and 6 to make it so that most stand users were stabbed by the Arrow like how DIO stabbed his lackeys after receiving the Arrow, Morioh was playing hot potato with the Arrow so it spread like Ebola, You basically can't join the gang unless you develop a stand due to the trial, etc.
They are same in Bizarreness imo. But stands are more interesting because besides the cool names, they look really awesome. Example, comparing The Lock with the inflation Nen, dunno what it is even called, in terms of bizarre and creativeness they are the same but the way JoJo uses theirs is way cooler.
Meruem or Netero vs Dio or Giornno or one of the other dudes with a broken ability, Rohan maybe; Who would win? it all depends on one thing: who ever plays it safer and acts quicker. There's a chance Netero/Meruem could one-tap any of those guys, but if Dio stops time even he could kill Netero but not Meruem, but Rohan could simple make Meruem kill himself (I think). Some of these fights are matchup dependent, but in most it comes down to who can think quicker. also Meruem vs Ultimate Kars is hype, but tbh I don't think either could kill the other. Actually, if Kars was creative he might be able to, then again by the same logic Meruem could probably find a weakness and possibly one-shot him. Damn that would be an interesting fight

Scott Mental Strength isn't IQ. It's essentially the ability to think. A child isn't thinking as much as an adult. When Polnerref became a kid, his mental strength reverted as well. Tell me how much Koichi trained btw. His stand literally evolved because his mind developed, albeit through stress and danger, but he didn't spend time training and testing Echoes abilities. He had to have a change in the way he was thinking. If Stands changed through training then Koichi makes no sense
Stands because a Nen user won't be able to see stands unless they could use Reen which is something Kurapika uses, stands can do stuff like stop time, reverse the entire universe, the power of infinity, and the power of zero which can reverse any action. the only problem is that if a Nen user hits a stand then he/she will feel the same pain

As for his reflexes against Josuke which is the only viable argument for a 300 mph average speed. Well, all I can say is Jotaro most likely underestimated Josuke. As well as who knows how long or how much his skill with star platinum became without proper practice. Since reflexes are different from a stand. To conclude no big deal I just found that difficult to ignore. Man, I miss prime Jotaro his thoughts and plans to act alone outperform any speed his opponents had. Even Dio, in the end, got played because Jotaro somehow managed to time stop after Dio before he was crushed at point-blank. Not to mention the fact Dio and the world were beating the hell out of the steam roller. To even consider the world and star platinum having near equal strength.

Stand training is basically meditation, learning more about yourself and displaying that true self. I wonder if Stands are a similar phenomenon to Nen; the latter is created from energy emitted from living souls, basically elan-vital energy from the vital sparks of creatures, while Stands are an outward expression of this vital spark that occurs naturally or activated by the otherworldly or the Divine (Stand arrows, the Christ figure in Part 7)

Zayaan Nashrid i was asking because it is thought the Netero in his prime can punch near light speed with how many punches he was able to throw in such a sort amount of time, remember he just doesn't throw punch after punch be puts his hands together like is praying before each and every punch he throws. Since I jus finished HxH I been thinking about this. If these were real I'm not sure which I'd rather have. Nen seems to have more options than stands. With Nen u can train and get stronger and come up with new techniques and with Stands it just is what it is and doesn't really get stronger unless requiem stands or ur luck to get an OP stand (gold experience)...but Nen requires A LOT of training n I'm lazy so I guess Stands? Keep up the great work man! I'd love to see more HxH from you
Well considering that both are a reflection of your character and you have to be an exceptional individual for both to become a user, you'd still have to work hard to some degree. Choosing not to die with an arrow through your neck takes a lot of resolve.
Silver Bean true, realistically I have no fighting spirit at all so I'd die if I got hit with the arrow which doesn't seem that bad 2 me tbh? U either get a cool punch ghost or u die pretty straight forward. The requirement to get a stand is to basically have a strongass will/fighting spirit you don't even have to be physically strong. With NEN you have to train your body and mind rigorously...and theres also the fact that if you use too much of it you could die so...yea I'll take Stands its a little LESS rigorous to get one
Gshiin Kars doesn't really appreciate nature, he only spared those plants and animals because he sees himself as superior, but he can't be superior to something which he doesn't belong to, such as the aforementoined animals and plants. The first thing het did when he became the Ultimate Lifeform was kill a squirell and turn his hand into a plant, wanting to show that he is now superior to them.

I don't think stands generally grow weaker over time, but rather can just change or the user becomes too weak mentally to be able to use the stand to its fullest potential. Part 6 Star Platinum was a good case as while its Defensive state dropped heavily from an A to an E its timestop ability was increased my three seconds, matching its original limit from the final fight of SC
Why is this guy saying that u can't train a stand if basically avdol, polnareff, and Johnny trained their stands... And you can train your stand by making yourself physically and mentally stronger since it's your souls physical manifestation
Nen strikes me as having far more potential than Stands. Most Stands really just have one or two tricks. Sure, there's the development potential stat, but that can't be counted on in most cases to actually be effective. If you don't get a relatively simple Stand, you're locked into the same tactic, giving your opponent time to figure out the exact counter required. With Nen, you create your own abilities and can spend time to rethink and add on to those abilities, making the fights more varied over time. Narratively, Nen is also more interesting. Stands are abilities that a character just sort of gets. There isn't training to get them and it requires little thinking to unlock powerful abilities. The only example of a villain training to make their Stand more powerful that I can think of is DIO. Nen abilities are more personal to the characters. These are powers that the characters themselves thought of and decided to create and learn to use. If an ability evolves, it isn't a Deus Ex Machina that the story needed for a character to succeed (looking at you Koichi), but rather the result of difficult training and a lot of thinking. In short, Stands make the person in Jojo, while the person makes the Nen ability in HxH
It's kinda strange how you say stands make the person after talking about Koichi. Stands are a manifestation of their user's psyche, the user does make the stand, the user just changes their fighting style to reflect that. On that note, Koichi is the worst example you could use. Out of all the actual stand Deus Ex Machinas (Looking at you Star Platinum: The World) Koichi's was to show development. Koichi's stand developed only after he was put in situations where he himself was forced to develop.
Talking about how good they are for writing/enjoyment purposes, not power. Nen definitely feels like Stands + Chi or whatever. Nen has the upside of a more thought out development to their power, but also has the weakness of very few fights which really feel like anyone could win. One of my fave HxH fights is Killua vs the darts siblings, because it really felt like anyone could win and the way it concluded was a really sick and clever way to solve it considering the abilities, but then I realized it’s strengths were basically any ordinary stand battle. The path towards getting nen abilities is better, but the actual battles of stands are better. Also stands look way cooler, and their powers get much crazier/creative which I’d consider a plus.
I'm a big fan of jojo and hxh but I'm pretty sure normal people can't see nen so if netero fought jotaro or someone else he might win cause that 100 hands are pretty fast and they might not be able to see it
TheClassicWeeb - it's not very clear. Only some nen is invisible. You can't see bungee gum without Gyo for example but you can see Kurapika's chains when he isn't in emperor's time. So I guess it depends on whether it is entirely made of nen or is nen converted into a physical substance or if it is a physical substance conducting nen.
TheClassicWeeb - Yeah it's got a lot of variations. I'm watching it on Toonami so I've seen the classification stuff recently and done a lot of reading on it.
Zayaan Nashrid Kurapika is a conjuror but he's also a 1% specialist (a rare ability some conjerors and maybe manipulators can have) that means he gets one specialist power under certain conditions. As a specialist when his eyes turn red Kurapika can use all hatsu types letting his chains be invisible, giving himself healing abilities, more control over the chains etc.. That's what emperor's time, his specialist ability, does.
Personas kinda suck *except* in the very specific setting of the metaverse where they can kill your soul without you knowing. Then they are super good. I don't think Akira is gonna fair well in a fight with any stand user when his fist couldn't even knock out Speedwagon. (English dub joke)

nice, but you can train with your stand (example: Star Platinum was weakened cuz it has not been used for a long time, meaning that you can train them and keep them at a strong state, and make them even stronger.)
you cannot just make more abilities for your stand, bou you should've mentioned that stands tend to evolve with the user under certain circumstances, Stands can gain some sort of update, a new form, and abilities, sometimes is just learning how to use your powers in a new way, but sometimes you just unlock a new ability, wether or not that was always there or your stand just developed it out of necesity, as long as there is room to grow, a stand can change and improve. Also getting older is not the only thing weakening a stand, but not using it for a long time, if Jotaro kept practicing with Star Platinum using the timestop wouldn't have been such a hazzle later on. Stamina also seems to affect stands to a degree, but it really depends.

stands are miniscule in comparison to the capabilities of nen. nen beasts are far more intercate. The fact that he didn't even mention nen beasts proves this
I gotta say this video made a lot of good points, except for the fact that it only seems to cover stands versus enhancer types. The biggest drawback of stands is that they're solely based on what their user can perceive. Every stand in some way shape or form is direct confrontation but that's hardly the case with all nen. Time manipulation doesn't mean anything to a master of manipulation nen. Or an emitter type. Or conjurer type. Especially since it takes nen to see nen. And every OP stand essentially requires being up close and personal. Overwhelming power means nothing to better tactics.

I feel like the argument comes down to anybody can develop nen to be stronger but the ability for a stand to develop is limited by the direct rules of the stand. Sure nen also has the memory overload thing, but I feel like this can be overcome with practice or rewritten. A stand with F developmental potential will always be E while an A is destined to develop down to E.

Tony Molins Those are rare exceptions that occur under specific circumstances. Stands with acts are just stands that haven't reached their full potential and require evolution to do so, and White Snake's transformations were a matter of circumstance with him having to accomplish a specific procedure to enable the change to occur.
Essentially, those are exceptions to the rule.

Actually, even if you can control Nen, you still can't just see it by default. There's a specific Nen technique you need to learn that lets you see it. You can master everything else about it, but if you don't know that technique, ya ain't seeing it.

You potentially COULD counter busted stands with this ability, since it basically involves risking, or just giving up your life, in order to get busted powers. For example, Killua can make himself extremely fast, but with a Nen contract, he could get the power to speed himself up so much that he stops time.

Not saying the stand isn't better, but that's on the rare chance that you have it. There are more people who could sacrifice themselves for a busted ability countering a single, unique stand.
Dio wasn't training to use The World, he was learning how to use it, just like Jotaro in the fight with Dio that only could stop time for an instant, but in the end of this same fight he stops time for 2 seconds. Dio always had the potential to stop time for longer periods, but at first he needed to learn how to use that ability, he needed that the time stops became something natural to him.
Plus he was not at his full potential because he was not totally fused with Jonathan body.

Honestly I think it depends on the users of both nen and stands, though I kinda hate my own opinion. If you have a fight with precrusaders Jotaro and Gon, much more even a battle; Jotaro (with The World) v Gon, Gon likely loses. Switch Gon out with Netero, and then I'd say that Jotaro probably loses. Since stands and nen are made in such a way that it varies per character skill and strength, its really hard to compare the toward without having to look at the matchups alone.

There's one important factor, you can't train stands but they can become stronger as you age around your twenties or thirties. If you already have a pretty strong stand it would become more strong as you went into your peak of age. And I don't know if this works but meditation and other mental training could also power you stand but I don't know for sure since it was really went into in the series.
They only decay with age, use of the stand and its abilities is what makes it stronger like DIO's timestop

I love both honestly. Both are incredibly creative and complex and most of the times characters have to think their ways out instead of overpowering their opponents.
What if the Nen users got shot by the Stand arrow, there is a high chance that they will develop a stand since they have strong life force but i wonder will the stand abilities be compatible with the nen abilities or different, like Killua for example he developed electricity power nen abilities so if he developed a stand will its power be electricity also maybe like Hot Chili Pepper.
It'd be something like say Hermit Purple or Tusk in the fact that they are Stands that augment the user's abilities(Spin for Johnny and Hamon for Joseph). If anything it'd be something that represents their Nen abilities(or main nen ability) and augment it somehow.
Also, inexperienced members would most likely be like Johnny who had to train himself in the art of 'Spin' before Tusk's true power was revealed
I don't know about part 7 yet, since i'm an anime watcher only, but a stand like Hermit Purple won't be useful to someone like Killua, in Joseph case he needed a Stand that can help him conduct Hamon since he can't shoot Hamon from the air, he needs to attach it to something, but for Killua it's another story, he can generate and shoot electricity on his own and even from a long distance so he doesn't need vines or wires to do that, on the other hand, Killua developed an ability called God Speed, it's a great ability but it has its drawbacks like it takes a lot of energy and stamina and doesn't last long and leave Killua weakened and out of Juice, we all saw that when he was fighting Youpi so he needs a Stand that can fill this Gap and punch really hard, i saw Hot Chili Pepper jumping around and hit Crazy Diamond the same way Killua was jumping around and hit Youpi, But Hot Chili Pepper was doing it perfectly without drawbacks that's why this Stand will be helpful to Killua and support him in battle, since from what i know about Jojo that the stand has to be useful to the user and satisfy his needs add to that Killua is an assassin so he needs his stand to be something strong, fast and stealthy and Hot Chili Pepper fits these categories.

Polnareff had a stand that he "TRAINED"(his words not mine) to obtain and Avdul,Iggy,Kakyoin and Joseph (He had HP in BT as stated by Araki it was just that he couldn't see it) all had one before they were introduced so yeah it can happen but it's rare mainly cause Araki changed the concept in part 4,5 and 6 to make it so that most stand users were stabbed by the Arrow like how DIO stabbed his lackeys after receiving the Arrow, Morioh was playing hot potato with the Arrow so it spread like Ebola, You basically can't join the gang unless you develop a stand due to the trial, etc.

Who would win? it all depends on one thing: who ever plays it safer and acts quicker. There's a chance Netero/Meruem could one-tap any of those guys, but if Dio stops time even he could kill Netero but not Meruem, but Rohan could simple make Meruem kill himself (I think). Some of these fights are matchup dependent, but in most it comes down to who can think quicker.
also Meruem vs Ultimate Kars is hype, but tbh I don't think either could kill the other. Actually, if Kars was creative he might be able to, then again by the same logic Meruem could probably find a weakness and possibly one-shot him. Damn that would be an interesting fight

As well as who knows how long or how much his skill with star platinum became without proper practice. Since reflexes are different from a stand. To conclude no big deal I just found that difficult to ignore. Man, I miss prime Jotaro his thoughts and plans to act alone outperform any speed his opponents had. Even Dio, in the end, got played because Jotaro somehow managed to time stop after Dio before he was crushed at point-blank. Zayaan Nashrid i was asking because it is thought the Netero in his prime can punch near light speed with how many punches he was able to throw in such a sort amount of time, remember he just doesn't throw punch after punch be puts his hands together like is praying before each and every punch he throws. Even if Netero is slower I'm sure he could still beat Jotaro what what with the bombw planted inside his heart that took down the monster known as Meruem.
Hanako is best girl problem with that is netero can use in on his 100 type buddah, and since jotaro can't use gyo, he would be getting hit by hundreds of invisible strikes
Kevin1242 netero being speed of sound was debunked multiple times, you can even check the Calcs if you want, netero is around Mach 100, even the jotaro is faster...

Since I jus finished HxH I been thinking about this. If these were real I'm not sure which I'd rather have. Nen seems to have more options than stands. With Nen u can train and get stronger and come up with new techniques and with Stands it just is what it is and doesn't really get stronger unless requiem stands or ur luck to get an OP stand (gold experience)...but Nen requires A LOT of training n I'm lazy so I guess Stands? Keep up the great work man! I'd love to see more HxH from you
Well considering that both are a reflection of your character and you have to be an exceptional individual for both to become a user, you'd still have to work hard to some degree. Choosing not to die with an arrow through your neck takes a lot of resolve.
Silver Bean true, realistically I have no fighting spirit at all so I'd die if I got hit with the arrow which doesn't seem that bad 2 me tbh? U either get a cool punch ghost or u die pretty straight forward. The requirement to get a stand is to basically have a strongass will/fighting spirit you don't even have to be physically strong. With NEN you have to train your body and mind rigorously...and theres also the fact that if you use too much of it you could die so...yea I'll take Stands its a little LESS rigorous to get one
Choose nen it extends your life and keeps you healthier even at it's base state. That's a great deal for a normal human.
Not only that but u can add more to your abilities with nen just look at Kurapika he has like 7 abilities

Gshiin Kars doesn't really appreciate nature, he only spared those plants and animals because he sees himself as superior, but he can't be superior to something which he doesn't belong to, such as the aforementoined animals and plants. The first thing het did when he became the Ultimate Lifeform was kill a squirell and turn his hand into a plant, wanting to show that he is now superior to them.
I'd like to see more comic content too. In your powers video you mentioned something about pucci's power having to do with gravity, a video that explained the time acceleration with gravity vs how flash's powers work, going more in depth with the two would be awesome

I don't think stands generally grow weaker over time, but rather can just change or the user becomes too weak mentally to be able to use the stand to its fullest potential. Part 6 Star Platinum was a good case as while its Defensive state dropped heavily from an A to an E its timestop ability was increased my three seconds, matching its original limit from the final fight of SC

We should also think how smart the stand user is. Like jotaro he knows how to stay calm and assess the situation and think on what the enemy will do.
Why is this guy saying that u can't train a stand if basically avdol, polnareff, and Johnny trained their stands... And you can train your stand by making yourself physically and mentally stronger since it's your souls physical manifestation

Nen strikes me as having far more potential than Stands. Most Stands really just have one or two tricks. Sure, there's the development potential stat, but that can't be counted on in most cases to actually be effective. If you don't get a relatively simple Stand, you're locked into the same tactic, giving your opponent time to figure out the exact counter required. With Nen, you create your own abilities and can spend time to rethink and add on to those abilities, making the fights more varied over time. Narratively, Nen is also more interesting. Stands are abilities that a character just sort of gets. There isn't training to get them and it requires little thinking to unlock powerful abilities. The only example of a villain training to make their Stand more powerful that I can think of is DIO. Nen abilities are more personal to the characters. These are powers that the characters themselves thought of and decided to create and learn to use. If an ability evolves, it isn't a Deus Ex Machina that the story needed for a character to succeed (looking at you Koichi), but rather the result of difficult training and a lot of thinking. In short, Stands make the person in Jojo, while the person makes the Nen ability in HxH

It's kinda strange how you say stands make the person after talking about Koichi. Stands are a manifestation of their user's psyche, the user does make the stand, the user just changes their fighting style to reflect that. On that note, Koichi is the worst example you could use. Out of all the actual stand Deus Ex Machinas (Looking at you Star Platinum: The World) Koichi's was to show development. Koichi's stand developed only after he was put in situations where he himself was forced to develop.

Talking about how good they are for writing/enjoyment purposes, not power. Nen definitely feels like Stands + Chi or whatever. Nen has the upside of a more thought out development to their power, but also has the weakness of very few fights which really feel like anyone could win. One of my fave HxH fights is Killua vs the darts siblings, because it really felt like anyone could win and the way it concluded was a really sick and clever way to solve it considering the abilities, but then I realized it’s strengths were basically any ordinary stand battle. The path towards getting nen abilities is better, but the actual battles of stands are better. Also stands look way cooler, and their powers get much crazier/creative which I’d consider a plus.
Koichi can create new abilities by convincing himself of the existence of new onomatopoeia.

I'm a big fan of jojo and hxh but I'm pretty sure normal people can't see nen so if netero fought jotaro or someone else he might win cause that 100 hands are pretty fast and they might not be able to see it
TheClassicWeeb - it's not very clear. Only some nen is invisible. You can't see bungee gum without Gyo for example but you can see Kurapika's chains when he isn't in emperor's time. So I guess it depends on whether it is entirely made of nen or is nen converted into a physical substance or if it is a physical substance conducting nen.
But Kurapika is a Conjurer right? Isn't their whole shtick to conjure items that thye would use like normal?

TheClassicWeeb - Yeah it's got a lot of variations. I'm watching it on Toonami so I've seen the classification stuff recently and done a lot of reading on it.
Zayaan Nashrid Kurapika is a conjuror but he's also a 1% specialist (a rare ability some conjerors and maybe manipulators can have) that means he gets one specialist power under certain conditions. As a specialist when his eyes turn red Kurapika can use all hatsu types letting his chains be invisible, giving himself healing abilities, more control over the chains etc.. That's what emperor's time, his specialist ability, does.

you cannot just make more abilities for your stand, bou you should've mentioned that stands tend to evolve with the user under certain circumstances, Stands can gain some sort of update, a new form, and abilities, sometimes is just learning how to use your powers in a new way, but sometimes you just unlock a new ability, wether or not that was always there or your stand just developed it out of necesity, as long as there is room to grow, a stand can change and improve. Also getting older is not the only thing weakening a stand, but not using it for a long time, if Jotaro kept practicing with Star Platinum using the timestop wouldn't have been such a hazzle later on. Stamina also seems to affect stands to a degree, but it really depends.

Thats situtaion was unique to DIO since he wasnt used to his current body (Jonathan's) and therefore his stand wasn't at it's fullest potential

I gotta say this video made a lot of good points, except for the fact that it only seems to cover stands versus enhancer types. The biggest drawback of stands is that they're solely based on what their user can perceive. Every stand in some way shape or form is direct confrontation but that's hardly the case with all nen. Time manipulation doesn't mean anything to a master of manipulation nen. Or an emitter type. Or conjurer type. Especially since it takes nen to see nen. And every OP stand essentially requires being up close and personal. Overwhelming power means nothing to better tactics.
Both shows are absolutely fantastic, glad you had this vid idea.
