Bravo. Liked. Folded, Brompton LOOKS a lot smaller, but if you actually measure the height, length, and width, the Brompton is actually not a whole lot smaller. We measured and compared. (This is relevant if you want to put it in a hardshell case.) If you take into account the wheel size of 16" vs 24", the Helix actually beats the Brompton handily in terms of folded size to wheel ratio. So the Helix is significantly more efficient in its folded size. The Brompton looks much smaller due to the wheels but it has a frame (including the handlebar components) that protrudes far beyond the wheels when folded while the Helix's frame is mostly within the wheel area. Also, the Helix's wheels are PERFECTLY laid on top of each other, while the Brompton wheels are staggered so that it is not as compact as possible. The Helix's two hubs actually LOCK into each other when folded for perfect side-by-side wheel alignment- quite brilliant really. The two also ride very differently for me - the Helix being more like a full-sized bike and feel more stable at high speed. Finally, regarding weight, the Brompton Superlight titanium is 23.98 lbs with 6 speeds, while the Helix Ultralight is 20.3 lbs with 11 speed and well-spaced gearing range of 26 to 100. The Helix is about 16% lighter than the Brompton, making it really quite a phenomenal achievement. The Brompton does have much better accessory options and is lower in cost. I have not ridden the Brompton enough times to say much about its efficiency but the Helix is quite efficient, almost like a full-sized bike.
5” wider and 3” taller is a noticeable difference if trying to fit in overhead. And some hotels may not allow one that large in the hotel room. Agree they are very efficient in their use of space.
You could also have added weight, price and folding speed comparison. I would also be interested in top speed and of road handling comparison. Maybe some ideas for future videos ;)
I wish you have the folded dimensions and also the weights.. i know I can find that information online.. Also apparently this spring helix is coming out with a lot of accessories! Would love for you to do another review Also the costs are vastly different
You're a great reviewer but need to do more riding coverage and video production. I have a Brompton but I'd lay. abet the Helix is smoother and can also handle some trails better. Titanium absorbs some of the vibrations too.
Great comparison. Just calm, neutral and on point. I agree with you an all points. I would love to see Brompton making a full titanium frame (not just a view parts) and a modern shifting mechanism.
Thanks for the interesting review! Some constructive criticism would be: comparing a 10 speed derailleur and an internal 3 speed hub makes little sense to me, if both are optional. What is the difference between all the versions of the brompton ( sure, I could check it out myself, but a good review would provide that information already). In what conditions did you ride both Bikes ( urban, offroad, uphill, downhill, in the city frequently up and down pedestrian sidewalks etc.)
Great video, still mind-blowing that the Helix is significantly lighter (visually speaking, I mean). I'm riding a tern Eclipse p20 and while it doesn't fold very small, the 26 inch wheels mean it rides like a full size bike.
If I had to choose between a Brompton or the Helix, it is a hard choice, I think it depends on the use, if I were just doing normal commuting I'd go with the Helix, if I were to go travelling to far locations I'd go with the Brompton, anyways thanks for your comment
@@keepinitezzy Let me make use I understand you properly. You prefer Helix for cycling around town because with bigger wheels, it is more comfortable. However, would you like BRINGING Helix around town? as in folded on public transport? Is it still too big for you to consider bringing it around on the bus etc?
Folded in public transport works actually, depends on the amount of space available that is, the Helix can still fit in a lot of places, I sometimes bring it inside a cafe with me.
Hello there, man it's been quite a while since I tried those two bikes to be honest 😅, and I've personally never used the Brompton T-Line. But I would favour the Helix when it comes to comfort and handling compared to the Brompton, which I believe the larger wheels and disc brakes do help with that. That and also since the Helix is slightly cheaper. Although the Brompton does have more flexibility when it comes to accessories and practicality, especially with that front bag holder.
@@keepinitezzy Thank you for thinking about the comparison and sharing with me your thoughts. Yeah, I'm on the fence about both of these bikes. Hmmm...
Nice review. Brompton supply is struggling to catch up at the moment. Stocks are low and appointments at Brompton’s own shops are booked until the end of the year here in London. Also customization on their website was switched off and buyers can only purchase what’s available at the time of their appointment. Same for resellers, you can buy whatever configuration and colours are available, sometimes on pre-order. Worth mentioning that Brompton is also available with other gear configurations like single and 6-speed but again, inventory is low.
I am aware of that, the number of people that buys bikes now is huge, I always see the number of people using Bromptons these days are just getting bigger and bigger.
@@keepinitezzy I’ve been watching the Helix for some time. I still ended up getting a second Brompton. But then again my usage is mostly urban touring, not long distance touring. I’ve been trying to disprove my own opinion that the Brompton has limitations but so far it’s been good at everything even with only 3 speeds! How has your experience been with the Helix and what is it best used for?
@@stroker28 My experience with the Helix has been amazing actually, I'd say the Helix is best for normal commuting, but the Brompton might come in handy when going to really far places for the fact that it has a lot more practicality.
4000 plus Dollars plus Taxes for europe for a Bike that was 1300 at Kickstarter and you can´t take a look befor you buy? Happy with my Brompton for now...
A perhaps significant difference when folded is that the Brompton has the oily chain (and derailleur gears) in the centre meaning your clothes don’t get dirty carrying it. The Helix has the chain/gears exposed where they could also get damaged in transit.

I own both. The helix fold is way way different. Helix has very tight specifications.
Very good review! Well done. You should do more of these!

I do like the Eclips P20, the big wheels especially, might be good for me to use on bumpy roads
Can you show a video of how to replace a flat tire on the Helix?
Good job in the comparison. So which do you personally prefer and why?

@@keepinitezzy I thought it will be the other way around but I guess for you Brompton is easier to bring up a plane..
Exactly, the Brompton is way smaller than the Helix so it can fit in a lot more places and doesn't takes up much space, especially in a plane

Excellent reviews
Great video thanks 😊
Mi sueño de hace ya unos años es tener una helix y ponerle un motor eléctrico poderoso. Buenos videos.
how is the helix's pushing when folded?

Price??
Did you find the Brompton folded and unfolded faster once you were used to both?
Actually yes, I guess I had difficulty at first because the Brompton is quite heavy compared to the Helix
0:23 and, that's when i intercepted the video
There is titanium lightweight Brompton. Isn't there?
There is a titanium Brompton, the Brompton Superlight...
@@keepinitezzy Ow.
I hadn't get that.
Yes the Brompton is lighter and has 6 gears in the slighter heaver version.
Remember this guy is only 5' tall
I really do need to get taller 🤣, thanks for the comment
must be rich to have both of these
I don't own all of the 2 bikes actually, I only have the Helix, the Brompton is from a close friend of mine.
That is irrelevant. Did you really feel the need to say it?
As a Brompton owner I do not want another folding bike.
And your point is lol?
