Great explanation. Hit to the point. No sponsor cut. No youtuber intro. Thank you so much.
Thank you!!!
Could not agree more. So refreshing to have high information density and no cruft on a TH-cam video.
In order of price lowest to highest.
1. A line 3 speed made with older components and does not have folding pedal so bit bulkier when folded. Good value.
2. C Line «Urban» for those in flat areas with 2 speed.
3. C Line «Explorer» 6 speed for those in hilly areas.
4. P Line for those want a lower weight bike and are okay with 4 speeds.
5. Electric C Line «Urban» for those that want a bit of assist and don’t need more than 2 speed.
6. Electric C Line «Explorer» for those in hilly areas that want a boost.
7. Electric P Line Not sure why this model exists with the added weight of battery and motor it has nearly same weight as the Electric C Line «Explorer».
8. T Line 4 speed “super light” made with titanium, for those with more cash than sense. Lowest weight of all Brompton models (as of march 2023) but costs more than Electric P Line.
Thanks for your comments! Stay tuned for more Brompton videos including the electric Bromptons. Thanks for watching!
" for those with more cash than sense"... that made me spill my coffee 🤣

Best pertinent and concise no-nonsense explanation on all Brompton types. Bravo and thanks from Indonesia 😄👍
Thank you so much! We really appreciate it! Always happy to hear from our friends in Indonesia! Thanks for watching!
Best youtube video for explaining Brompton lines so far. Many thanks.
Thanks you so much! We really appreciate your kind words!
Bromptons are superbly functional and creates an easy transportable solution to taking your bike just about anywhere! I don’t own one, but I am definitely a fan!
Been riding bikes for over 60 years and my Brompton is the best bike I’ve ever owned. It is a 3 speed hubbed bike, which is an awesome no fuss general purpose bike 👍🏻❤️
That is pretty amazing-60 years! I hope I can claim that privilege one day. It has taken me a while to really appreciate my Brompton. I use it more now for traveling to fun places. 😊
What’s a hubbed bike?
@@dawnjohnson8739 He means an internally geared hub.
I’ve been researching bromptons and this was so helpful, thank you!
Glad we can help! Thanks for watching! What Brompton did you choose?
Another excellent video. One point worth mentioning and you avoided it in a previous video comparing the Brompton with another folding bike is the ease with which a Brompton carries luggage. There is no other bike with such a range of luggage that simply clicks onto the frame and is so much easier than the hassle with panniers or attaching racks etc. On the subject of Brompton racks they add weight and make the bike clunky to fold - but they are excellent if using the Brompton for touring. The answer is to own two Bromptons one with a rack and one without. Luv your videos let me know if you ever visit England!
That is an excellent point about the range of luggage and the ease of putting it on the frame. We have an upcoming video about the Dahon vs. the Brompton and that topic is brought up. And yes, since being in the Brompton world, you meet a lot of people who are adamant about having a rack or not having a rack. But I think your solution is the best...2 Bromptons. I have the C-line, but after working on this video...I want the T-line now! An England visit is on the list. Thank you for your great comment.
There’s also the bumble bee yellow for both the P-line and C-line. Also now they come with only black mudguards, seatpost and handlebars. The Piccadilly blue has been discontinued as well as the 3 speed - except for the A-line.
We noticed that! Love it. It seems it can only be purchased in the UK, now not in the USA.
Excellent video/overview and well edited. I am from the UK but still find all the options confusing and not really sure, what the differences are, for example , between the different handlebars and seat posts etc.and why would you choose one over the other. This was very informative.
We totally agree! We wanted to break it down to something we could understand the difference too. It can get extremely confusing when you go to their website. Thanks for the comment.

Difference btwn d models, right up to d cost was so brief n precise, that it’s made all things Brompton, Crystal clear… thanks for that…!

if you get the S handle bars you can easily covert that into having a upright profile with 2 inch riser bars which are more stable then having the M riser bar

Great explanation of all types of Brompton...👍👍👍
Thank you & thanks for watching!
Always like to hear that. Thanks for joining our biking community.
Brompton is a bit behind of clones which are doing 9 speed externals.
The 2 speed can be modified to 5 speed with the stock wheel set. I think because of that it can be a good buy
I feel like the chpt3 is probably the worst value as it’s not much better than a P line.
I think if someone isn’t sure then always go 6spd as it’s the most flexible.
Would you really use all 9 gears? It just depends on where you are riding. I know when I am riding in the city I might use 3 gears on my 6-gear Brompton. I would like my Brompton a little lighter so I could have gone for the 3-gear. But I agree if you are not sure go for the 6.
Very useful information!
Thanks! We enjoy making these videos. More Brompton videos to come.
Very good summary!
Thank you & thanks for watching!
Very helpful vid.
Glad this helped!
Thanks!!
You bet!
Love my P line,
Glad to hear you're a fan of the P line! It's all about that P-sonality!
The Bompton T would be nice with an electric option for commuters.
Yes, it would. Maybe one day they'll make an electric T line. They seem to always be adding & changing things
My 2019 flame-painted yellow SuperlightH6LXBrompton with mudguards, is for now down to 9,35 kilo (with extra titanium parts) and still with some easy ways to make it become even lighter! The metal clamps on the mudguards are really "Heavy Metal" and the handlebar is aluminum. My saddle post is now titanium, as several parts, nuts and bolts. That I should pay double up to loose some gears and maybe a kilo of weight, I don't think is worth it! Finn. Denmark
Yes, you are so right. That is amazing what you did, what a great idea. I would love to do a video using my Brompton to achieve what you have. Thanks for the insightful information.
The P Line is the perfect choice for those that want to carry it instead of riding it, and pushing it around by the seat.
True! Why ride when you can flex those muscles and show off your carrying skills? The P Line is all about style, strength, and convenience! Thanks for sharing.
Excellent review

Well done!
WooHoo! Glad you liked it.😃
C A P T Brompton.
Aye aye captain
Looks like we've got a full crew on board with Captain Brompton at the helm!
thx for the video! are dahon bikes any good? the K3 Plus?
Funny you should ask, we are presently working on a Dahon video right now with all kinds of good information. We review Dahon in general and then focus on the Mariner.
@@RideandShineBicycling Can't wait, thanks!
well made video.
Thank you!
I am soooo close to pulling the trigger, likely second hand or A line for initial cost, but I wish there was a grey option for the a line, I wish I could know if the a line was about to be released with more color or tonality options, with my luck I will settle for the current white and the next month they announce my favorite color, but that’s just my luck!
Geez, I hope not. It is good that you are doing all your research. I did not, I just relied on the dealer to tell me which one was best. I probably would have done things a little differently. Weight has become my issue. And I am not talking about body fat.😂
great video
Thank you!!!
2:50 This is interesting. I'd expected the "urban" to have a single gear. That's the most basic bicycle in the Netherlands, most have SA 3 speeds, but for instance the famous and very popular Opoe Fiets, has a single gear and back pedal brake
People who want to venture outside the urban areas generally choose a bike with more than three gears
It is hard to believe that you could get around on a single gear on the T line one where I live. But knowing that the Netherlands is mostly flat it could be a good choice.
@@RideandShineBicycling Yeah, it is very easy in the Netherlands, especially if you stay within city limits,
I don't like a single gear, as I like to bicycle faster than I can with a single gear.
I also venture outside in the polder, between cities, and then, with bridges, dikes and sometimes headwinds, I prefer to have several gears to choose from.
@@QuantumCat76 I have a C-line with 6 gears and at times I wish I had a least 9 gears. I have heard of people adding more gear to their Bromptons.
@@RideandShineBicyclingyes you can modify to have 3 cogs in the rear for a really wide range
It’s is a big help thank you. I am looking at the P-Line but I am still confused with the handle bar as the one I found is M handle bar and I have nick pain, I want to be relaxed and ride longer and longer. Please guide me please
The M handle bar is the most popular handle bar similar to a hybrid bike where you sit upright. You can sit even higher with a H handle bar. Both should give you a more relaxed ride and hopefully reduce neck pain.
for someone starting out, would u recommend c line 6 speed or p line?
I bought the C-line 6 gears and I do like having multiply gears, but I would have liked it a little lighter. The P-line only has 4 gears, but it is lighter.
4 gears is not enough for me. If you are riding on mostly flat surfaces then that could be a good option. I am still very happy that I purchased the C-line.
@@RideandShineBicycling yeah. i guess for a newbie the problem would be the 2 shifters n how to get to certain gears.
Interesting bikes pretty cool 😎
Thanks... I have been watching your #shorts and enjoying them.
@@RideandShineBicycling Good to know, thanks. I'm heading to another bike tour Monday more biking videos after that. 👍
@@FollowThomas Well you know I love that... Where are you going?
@@RideandShineBicycling I'm taking Amtrak to Lakeland near Tampa where I left off last time and taking the Van Fleet trail first. General Van Fleet is a rural rail trail in Central Florida through Green Swamp. Riding back to Jacksonville. All together around 250 miles.
@@FollowThomas Looking forward to seeing the videos. I always like riding on rail trails.
Just about to order mine and we live in Montpellier…France :-)…we have a local independent dealer
Great! Which Brompton did you choose?
@@RideandShineBicycling, it will probably be the C-Line with 6-speed. I plan to take it on the TGV high-speed train to Lyon, Paris, Toulouse, and even Lille and then visit my clients. I cycle everywhere in Montpellier and try to reduce car use to a minimum. I looked at second-hand Brompton, but the price difference is minimal. They hold their value really well. I just sold my Trek 2020 gravel bike with a heavy loss! We also get a rebate in my region for bikes used as final destination transport. Hybrid electric and folding bikes get government refunds from 200- 700 euros. Cycling is really taking off here.
@@gdwlaw5549 I own a C-line with 6 speeds, but the only regret that I have is that I wish it could be a little lighter. I might have been fine with the 3 speeds. I do plan on taking my Brompton on its first airline flight this April. Of course, a video will follow.
Luckily, we do have a few tax credits that are available to help make electric bikes more affordable.
The US government passed a bill proposing a 30% tax credit for the purchase of new electric bicycles in the US. This hopefully with be an incentive to buy electric bikes to help fight against climate change. Good news, but a long time coming.

ELECTRIC P OR T LINE FOR LIGHTEST STREET CARRING!
T-Line of course.
I was woundering, does the steel of the Brompton ever get rusty?
The Brompton bikes are pre-treated with a chemical anti-corrosion treatment to prevent rust.If they do rust it will be just cosmetic not structural. There is a 7 year warranty on the frame. Thanks for watching!
which of all the lines has a black edition ?
C Line. Thanks for watching!
I'm thinking of making a Brompton out of a
Please let us know how that goes.🙂

Biking Jeff bridges
Who knew Jeff Bridges rides Mountain bikes?
Wow so pricey
Yes, they are!!! But people love them
Also, two reasons why they are expensive is that their frames are handmade in England, and they have an incredibly high resale value.
Ahem , you forgot the electric :)
Yes, Tim mentions in the beginning that he'll only be talking about the non-electric Bromptons in this video. Stay tuned for an upcoming video about electric Bromptons. It was too much information to put both electric and non electric Bromptons in one video. We want to give enough attention to each. Thanks for watching!

It is your own personal Brompton museum!
And then you have the CHPT3

No difference. They’re all ugly and overpriced.

So 2000 and not electric no
Yes, it is an expensive sport. The Brompton is a specialty item, designed to last for many years and that requires skilled labor.
Pline 🥲
Nothing wrong with that answer.
