PCOS is one of the most common and most misunderstood conditions that we treat as reproductive endocrinologists, and this week I'm delighted to be joined again by Dr. Lucky Sekhon to talk all about it.
PCOS stands for polycystic ovary syndrome, and that name can lead to some confusion. A lot of people think that they probably have cysts in their ovaries. The truth is that all women have multiple cysts (which are really small follicles that house eggs) in their ovaries. Those with PCOS have follicles that look like what we call a "string of pearls" on the periphery of their ovaries, and often have irregular (or no) cycles.

I have lean PCOS, my doctor started me on metformin which I did not tolerate. Will be starting clomid when my period starts. Besides FSH slightly elevated and testosterone all my other labs were ok, I do have the string of pearls on US. I do have periods every 33-37 days on average

Have pcos tried clomid 3 cycle tried fermara 3 cycle still nothing. I noticed I didn't see my usual egg white so dr advised me to take 3 months break and I am still not ovulating. I am worried and stress
There's no need for a break in my humble opinion. Maybe your doctor needs a break :) I would consider femara 4-5 tabs daily for 5 days, and then add dex 1 mg in the morning with metformin + ovasitol + naltrexone. You can also do for example 1 tab of femara with clomid 100 mg (combine both femara + clomid!). And confirm your doc has the right diagnosis. Sometimes women are labeled as PCOS when it isn't! check for thyroid issues, high prolactin and check AMH.

I see a general endocrinolgist & a reproductive endocrinologist. Both of them just tell me I need to loose weight & I can’t. I’m 37 & no kids. My thyroid keeps going up and they keep going up on my letrozole to get my TSH under a 2. Im on 125 now but whenever they recheck my TSH, it goes above a 2 again but they told me I don’t have hypothyroidism or hashimottos. I want to have a baby so bad, but I have high blood pressure, cholesterol issues, prediabetes, thyroid problems and they only tell me to loose weight and I can’t and I’m frustrated 😭
I would recommend you to lose weight.. losing weight will fix all issues..

Try intermittent fasting, keto and anti inflammatory diet, take myo inositol/d chiro supplement for insulin resistance. Synthroid or Levothyroxine is for hypothyroidism not Letrozole. Do cardio 45 min/day.
@@dr.nitikasingh4564 thank you! It has been a year since I posted this and I’ve lost 30lbs since then. They now got my levothyroxine at the right dose which is 137 and I’m no longer prediabetic but I am still taking 2000mg of metformin my periods are regular now. Just loosing the 30lbs has helped so much

Mine is 6.34ng/dl at 37.
@@CrystalM1917 I’m 26 so my eggs are good. I also have no fertility issues. I’m very fertile.
@@janereich5170 The only reason I mentioned my amh is that the level can vary in women at different ages due to genetics and I think people always associate older age with a lower amh and i found out that's not always the case. But I likely started off with more eggs than average to begin with. I'm so glad you have good fertility! I am very blessed by my children also! I would like to add one more and I was afraid my age would be a factor but I got mine checked and my doctor was kind of amazed at my results. I started coq 10 so I am hoping that for egg quality along with my egg reserve will give me a good chance at another healthy baby in spite of my age.
I have been told i have pcos but i have regular periods and no cysts... i don't know what to do with that information and doctors are useless!!
Just need to find the right doc. Not sure where you live but I can certainly try to point you to the right one!
@@EggWhisperer im from the uk and have been to see my local gp. However i was only told about pcos when i went for my hcg and ultrasound before starting ivf
