    Just got back from Paris on American Airlines last night (8/21/19), never again. We flew to Dulles via Charlotte and paid extra for Premium Economy. The seats are awful, the catering is nothing special and the drinks service is lacking. On the flight back yesterday my table was broken and despite the fact that PE was only half full, they never invited us to move. Did I mention the entertainment system (I've experienced much better in the back of planes). I've heard very good review from friends who have flown PE with European carriers, so AA have plenty of competition, and will not get my business in the future.

    • @GilbertTravels
      @GilbertTravels  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a bummer. Definitely try another premium economy carrier some time and see what you think.

    Hey people's, can I ask you something? I flew once, but only in charter flight. So I would like to know, when I get that amenity kit, so I have to take it back to the crew (or leave it in my seat), or I can take it home? Thank you for very nice video. J

    • @GilbertTravels

    • @GilbertTravels
      @GilbertTravels  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks and great question. From what I can see yes, the the screens are the same size in the bulkhead. The disadvantage there if the screens have to be stowed for takeoff and landing, vs gate to gate use for the other rows, but for me, I think the benefits would outweigh that.

    • @GilbertTravels

    • @GilbertTravels

      The blanket and pillow are intended to stay on board, the airline will launder and re-use them. Good question though.

  • @privateuser1264
    @privateuser1264 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Between premium economy vs exit row, which you think is more comfortable?

    • @GilbertTravels
      @GilbertTravels  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. Exit row should have the legroom. If you are traveling solo 2 vs 3 seats isn't as big of a deal. For couples not having to share the row with another passenger is nice. Basically it is the difference between a domestic economy and domestic first class seat in terms of space. Wider, more recline, nicer screen. How much do you value the meal quality on board? AA definitely delivered a superior edible and filling meal in premium economy. I think there is no question premium economy is more comfortable in every case, but how much would you pay more than an extra legroom economy seat? At less than double coach but less than half business I think it can be a good value for what all it includes. In some cases it is much more than double coach and can even be very close (or more!) than discount business tickets. So you have to be smart when to decide it is the right value. I hope that helps, thanks for commenting.

    I think what Americans do not have is the cultural sense of what IS first class. Not like what other countries do. Our cultural sense for the finer things have always been driven by its cost and it's greatly shown in businesses like our Airlines.

    • @GilbertTravels
      @GilbertTravels  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate the perspective and your time taken in commenting. I hope a service centered US airline can excel again. I never had the chance to fly them but I understand Virgin America was a true pleasurable experience in the air, so it can be done. Other carriers certainly seem to be spending more time training crew in hospitality outside of the US to try and attract their business. I know flight crews have a lot more training and responsibility than presenting cocktails with a smile, but carriers around the world have shown you can have great service and run an efficient and safe operation.
