Oh how I wish you were my neighbor - - I know you could get me started on the joys of canning - - so glad I found your channel -- I have all the stuff - just apprehensive to take that first step. Thanks.
Fabulous Video! As an old retiree guy that hasn't ever done canning before your teaching has given me confidence to give it a try. Keep up the great work.
John, I appreciate the kind words, and I'm thrilled you're going to try!!! It's music to my ears! Let me know how it goes! And thanks for watching!! ❤️
I just found your video and you are too funny! And I mean that in a good way! You talk away! You make me laugh! I am one of those people that garden and really enjoy putting up food we grow. Right now I’m looking to make and can up veg soup for fall and the winter and checking out how you all do it!
This has been my favorite of all the canning I've completed. It is hearty, tastes delicious, and is easy to can. Your instructions were very easy to follow. Thanks again, Jamie for teaching me to cook!!
I just found your channel, and I’m so glad that I did. I usually add turnips to my vegetable beef soup and a bad of Cole slaw mix - the angel cut that is super thin. I’ve never pressure canned this soup because of the cabbage. Everyone told me to add it when I served it; nope, I’ll cook it nice and long and let the flavors meld and freeze it! I’m not a rebel when it comes to canning; other things, yes, but not with anything I’m sharing with my kids and grandkids! I agree with another review, I think we could be friends even though I’m old enough to be your mother!
In my opinion Talk all you want ! Oh and cook and explain some too ! It's 20:48 on your video and I've yet to see any Garlic ! I heard it always help to put in just a little tomato paste, it is supposed to help with the thickening and taste, and of course a big healthy splash of some wine is always nice. I made a meal where I wanted some sherry. I could not find any. I used apple hard cider, tasted good to me.
Well, I could hug your neck! I appreciate the kind words, really really! And I'm all about the wine and tomato paste, too! I love that you experimented with the hard cider---way to go for making do with what you had on hand! Thanks for watching!! ❤️
@@Jamieteachmetocook I even read that if you or a friend were of the 'don't drink alcohol' persuasion, you can use a little grape juice, instead of wine, to add a little wine taste to your dish. Actually the heat from cooking will evaporate the alcohol, but I think some people have religious objections to the use of alcohol. Each to their own. A little port of burgundy adds a lot of flavor to a beef stew. I just saw someone cook up shrimp with some dry white wine, it looked so good.
Great question, Evelyn! I love cabbage, but the one time I put it in the soup, it turned to mush due to the pressure canning. You can always cook up a bit and add to your soup when you go to warm up a jar. That way, it doesn't get overcooked.
@@Jamieteachmetocook thank you for your reply I have watched several videos on canning cabbage sou and I do think I will give it a go to put cabbage in my canned hamburger vegetable soup. I love cabbage taste in my soup so I will try it.
