    My husband loves veggie soup! I always make a beef roast (beef roast, beef broth, petite diced tomatoes, onions, potatoes and carrots) the day before I make my soup. I shred the left-over beef into a pot, then just dump all the leftovers in. Two or three cans of mixed veggies, and it's done! I'm a born Yankie, but spent several years in Tennessee ad Georgia.

    Great video! I love the way you thoroughly explained each item and each step and didn't have some annoying music playing like some videos do smh. My grandma used to make this all the time when I was growing up....the only way I would eat okra lol. To all the people that are trying to nitpick about the "Beef"....just omit it! Why are people so quick to look for a flaw? If you want all vegetables... put all vegetables! If you don't like Lima beans.....don't put them! Jesus Christ! No one is twisting your arm people....either watch it, make it or don't.

    Great way to make a pot of veggie soup. I was raised on good ole homemade veggie soup with ground beef in it, and cornbread. I make ours today almost like Miss Phyllis does. As a matter of fact, we've got a crock pot filled to the top just like that soup in the kitchen right now. One of the main things about that soup recipe, it sticks to the ribs. Thanks for sharing Miss Phyllis.

    And for those complaining about the wording, usually in the South (I’m from TN) when we say “vegetable soup” or “vegetable stew,” it can be made with OR without chicken or beef. It’s used interchangeably. :) I like to make mine with chicken.
    This video is the way my mom always made it. She often even adds elbow macaroni which I’m sure will make some of you roll over in your graves even more 😂 , and yes, still calls it vegetable soup lol!

    This is almost exact how my gram taught me to make veggie soup. Sometimes instead of ground beef I use leftover slow roast beef...either way is yummy and you gotta have cornbread on the side💖. Western NC girl here - thanks for sharing

    Thank You for the recipe! I run a organization that feeds homeless people and we were looking for a good veggie stew idea that was cheap as we feed 100+ people and are on a tight budget. This looks like the perfect recipe! I like the idea of frozen veggies. I think that if anyone wanted to omit the lean beef and keep it truly veggie and keep a meat aspect, then they could add soyrizo sausage. You are a wonderful cook! I really love your personality, too! Do you think the canned potatoes would work? I am just thinking of how to save prep time on a recipe for 100+ servings.

    • @sissyjollie
      @sissyjollie 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Bless you for taking care of the homeless! If you leave out the meat, add extra potatoes. As for canned potatoes, they will probably work, but try adding them the last 30 minutes maybe less. Over done potatoes will probably fall apart.

    • @djm22001981
      @djm22001981 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Jake, I just remembered seeing someone talk about adding pasta in addition to my ingredients. If you use extra broth or tomatoes, you could add a bit of pasta to stretch it out.

    • @djm22001981
      @djm22001981 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      We served it yesterday for Valentine's Day. I tweeked the recipe just a bit. We were aiming for a completely vegetarian dish, so we substituted the chicken stock and used Miso Stock instead. We sautéed all the ingredients in olive oil for flavor before adding them to the pot. Adding more potatoes for meat was a great idea. Instead of tomatos and tomato sauce, we mixed brown gravy in and made it a real thick and rich brown stew, rather than red and we served it poured over Jasmine Rice. I also borrowed your crispy Corn bread recipe, added cheddar cheese and served a slice with each serving. Let me tell you that we never got more smiles and empty bowls than we did with this recipe. I will be watching your TH-cam channel more closely for more great ideas for our meals sharing program.

    good-looking recipe. I have been looking for a good recipe for a while now. My mother broke her hip 2 weeks ago so as usual I am doing all of her cooking and I am eating as well. I will remove the hamburger and Worcestershire sauce and I will add barley in place of potatoes. I will also put it in the slow cooker. I will then see a bunch in my ceiling meal to freeze and give her a good size container of it as well so she can eat right away. I am disabled and often don't feel well my mother is the same so I wanted to have a good vegetable soup in the freezer for days when we don't feel well. Thank you for the recipe. :-)

      @Justice Boofer na you just seem upset...most vegans are upset because they realize their way of life kills more innocent little animals than us meat eaters way of life...you know all the pesticides and herbicides and traps and such that keep the rodents and snakes and birds and deer etc out of the fields of all those greens ;)

      Justice Boofer You must have recognized you were the one who couldn’t figure out to just leave... the ...meat ...out, if you don’t want meat in your dish. Why get mad at someone for speaking the obvious that you should have known already. Just laugh at yourself and go on, like “Wow, I could’ve had a V8” moment. Hope you’re well, and happier than when you first commented.. 😂 life is not that serious.

      No, I've had it for years and I've never thought to polish it. Mine looks great with age. I think sometime polish removes part of the metal so I wouldn't polish it. Let it grow old gracefully!
