    The latest Worcesters are so much more installer friendly, at last!
    The old Vaillant sine 18,so came with pre- installed mini exp. vessels, still not sure why, except these days water meters are fitted with check valves so maybe plastic components are an issue?
    Great to see someone understands the Regs. surrounding where double check valves can and cannot be fitted.
    On system water quality checks, I use Scalemaster i-test in conjunction with a turbidity tube and QUALITY ph test straps.
    Worcester specifically require a MAXIMUM of a ph of 8!
    You thoughts on testing and the results you obtain would be of much interest.
    Pro job, keep up the good work.

      @PlumbLikeTom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the support as always John, I think the plastic parts are the main issue when it comes to fitting expansion vessels, water quality is very important, I have started using the test strips to check for inhibitor levels on my installs and when carrying out a service, thanks for the support as always mate

    Worcester's are ... fine ... it's just they are so expensive compared to other brands but that extra cost doesn't show in the quality of the product, especially with how much cheap plastic they are full of which goes brittle over time and pinholes or cracks... these new ones definitely impressive on the installation side of things so credit where credit is due there

    • @PlumbLikeTom
      @PlumbLikeTom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the support mate, the plastic is really the only thing with this boiler I don't like, they are a little pricey for the 8000, but with the care pack that comes with the filter and programmer it does help bring the cost down and put them in line with other boilers, the new Worcester 1000 will probably be my budget boiler at £500 plus flue and filter

    You gave that lady some good advice there. To me its like putting a brand new engine in a 1976 Ford Cortina. Yes the engine is good , but if the transmission is rubbish you're not actually gaining anything. Plus you are still left with numerous other faults. I said 1976 because many systems are actually that old if not older.

    The new Worcester life’s are a nice boiler, I had two worcester filters in the last year that was already registered, I would be pissed if a boiler was registered,
    I later found out that so people are just using random serial numbers and collecting points, its not hard to do because the first few numbers are nearly identical,

    Shock arrestor aint needed for any worcester mate. I know they say this but they havent a clue as their boilers are designed by architects lol. All thats needed is a pressure reducing valve on mains to reflect what hot water flow rate can be achieved. Its very high mains that cracks them and with residual heat on plate with expansion/contraction of plastic. Ive never ever had a flow/return manifold on an install fail and its been a long time lol. Like you said mate, the shock is going to be disrupted by all the bends it has to take, to have any effect on the boiler. Nice little install that, good job😎

    • @Purebeltersteve
      @Purebeltersteve ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats why flow turbines get smashed up, due to the high pressure of mains and flow restrictor is under strain

Just wondering how I could get myself out there for smaller jobs like radiator changes, toilets, basin swaps etc if you have any idea how to advertise for this. just wanting to do a couple of jobs on the weekend to get a bit of extra money. Hi can you explain the pipes that needs joining the boiler as level 2 now

    • @PlumbLikeTom
      @PlumbLikeTom  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      On a combination boiler you have a flow and return that connect to the radiators, these will normally be 22mm connections, you also have a cold inlet, and a hot outlet, the cold water passes through the boiler, is heated and comes out hot to feed the taps. On a combi boiler the hot and cold connections will be 15mm. There is also a gas pipe, as well as a condense and pressure relief pipe

      I used to sub contract for a heat pump contractor, I fitted quite a few ground and air source heat pump systems, if I'm honest I didn't enjoy the work that much as most of the time systems were poorly designed or just not suitable for a heat pump, I could only do what I was told though being a subby, design is critical really with these things, the government seem to have taken a 1 size fits all approach to heat pumps and it's just not right, thanks for watching as always mate
