The big tentpole movies like Wicked and gladiator 2 and Moana 2 and lion king 2 just have no appeal to me at all. Also don't want to give woke Hollywood any money either.
DC and WarnerBros might have jumped the gun on the whole reboot thing. Should have just made one movie, wait for it to perform, and go from there. Now this movie has to be a success in too many ways, from box office to critical reception. Even something as small as Gunn’s comments in the Variety interview, something as vague yet clear enough of a statement as it was. That’s enough to bring some doubt to this movie’s performance, and that’s the last thing they need. Any doubt at all in this stage is troublesome, honestly Gunn should have known better than to say what he did. Then again, I’d rather he be honest than lie about it. We’ll see how this pans out in the long run though.

Yeah, sorry James. I was out when you fired Cavill. If this is some sort of political statement, you will have made me go from just letting this movie go as a neutral bystander to someone who will help destroy this movie.
I've read what James Gunn said and he didn't say that Conservatives and Trump are the problem, he just say that whatever side you are, we all just want be kind and hopeful.
Superman is a very conservative character. He stood for Truth, Justice and the American way. People were not ready for Zach Snyder's Man of Steel. I didn't see Man of Steel when it first came out. People kept telling my it was terrible. My unpopular opinion is that it was a great movie. It's beyond my the hate for Man of Steel.
Part of the reason for the divisiveness of Man of Steel is perfectly summed up in your 2nd statement. I'm not sure why fans of Snyder and his movies can't simply say "I understand (or don't) why people don't like [insert title here], I loved it. Period & full stop." When you feel compelled to add statements like "people were not ready for.." (which is, admittedly, very mild compared to what Snyder fans were typically indulging in during the height of his popularity) it both devalues your own statement and opens you and the film up to deserved criticism. Such as: Superman has been reimagined and/or deconstructed plenty of times, especially recently, in both comics as well as on screen; often by creative minds far superior to Snyder and Goyer. Dark Knight Returns, Injustice, Red Son, and other Elseworlds-type stories, as well as Hyperion, Miracleman, Supreme, Homelander, Invincible/Omni-Man, One Punch Man, etc. Many people wanted to see the character you described in the first part of your post, which is not what we got. Instead, we got Snyder and his ham-fisted attempts at "mature" storytelling and a lackluster, poorly conceived attempt at deconstruction of the Superman mythos. In addition, it simply isn't a "great" movie, by any definition beyond the purely personal and subjective. It was poorly paced, badly written, filled with plot holes, a complete eyesore in terms of color grading and shot composition, and character destroying for any number of reasons that would take a long time and are typically ignored by the Snyder base anyways. I'm glad you enjoyed it, but you might want to keep your statement to that in the future; because it was a bad movie and an absolutely garbage attempt at an actual Superman story... and THAT is what people were "not ready for".
The first shot, in that pathetic attempt for a suit; made "superman" look plain cheap. Gunn is going to WOKE up here and screw this up. Don't care, not watching it anyway.
I wasn't going to watch it anyway. DC has been on the wrong trajectory for a long while now, they keep on perpetually rebooting the characters because they can't get any traction. James Gunn turning up makes no difference, in fact, getting rid of Henry Cavill was his biggest dumb move to open. No thanks. It's going to stink. It's a shame because of the super heroes I most like the majority of them are DC.

I didn’t view Gunn’s quote as anti Trump. Let me explain. No matter what side of politics you are on, you can look around at the current state of the country and see that it has been battered by division, social tensions, and economic instability. Gunn saying that Superman is representing America is good for him to say because we are damaged right now but just like Superman, we will rise again.
It REALLY seems we have a Warner Bros problem. No James Gunn can save us from them. The trailer irradiates "that Flash movie" radiation. What is that Hawk Girl out of nowhere? Can we have a Superman movie with no hairy Lex Luthors, or cucked Superman, or bizarre origin story - just him being Superman, doing Superman things, being silly, being ridiculously overpowered, caring about things, punching lasers and villains, without any other heroes around? Warner can't do anything right, anything they touch, goes woke and turns to
I found Gunn's message about the country and Superman being hurt to actually give me hope the movie won't be very political/partisan. When Gunn commented on this, he said he lives around people with different political views than his and everyday he is touched by the goodness he sees in them (conservative people). That made me hopeful he won't do any story framing to present those kinds of people (conservative people) as being evil.
Why is everyone so psyched about this Gunn fruitpie's movie? He has not made any movies with established characters. All he knows how to do is kill off characters.

His appearance was pretty great, honestly. Script wise did in fact make him a moody emo kid, but that has nothing to do with Cavill's ability as an actor.
Gunn is repeating WB/DC/Synder's mistake: starting the franchise with the Justice League. Part of Marvel's success was to get to know the individual characters, and anticipate how they would come together and work with each other. And the look of Nathan Filion as Green Lantern, oh boy. He is channeling hard "Simple Jack." Between that and Gunn's political statements, "Never go full ....." I guess we will have another failed launch to a franchise.
James Gunn is the Rachael Zegler of Superman. The audience was not broken and bleeding when 77 million of us went to the polls to vote for President Trump. We will stand by Trump, but Gunn is not the hero he thinks he is.
Well, I’ll go ahead and let my dad know. We were very excited because of the trailer. I remember finding comic books in my grandma‘s house with krypto but now the whole family won’t watch it. We do not watch any political message that has an anti-Trump propaganda. I will hold judgment for a while. A lot of people changed. I have two liberal sisters who are now pro Trump. They said they grew after someone tried to assassinate Trump and the comments that their friends had about that incident woke them up.
I am Canadian. Joe Schuster, the creator of Superman, was Canadian. THIS is already NOT Joe Schuster's Superman. I have not watched ANY new Hollywood in YEARS, and I won't. EVERYTHING is reboots, remakes, resets, or repeats. Hollywood is dead, because the concepts from the very beginning are all about REPLACING the original works. It's not honoring anything to replace all the classics, and screw it up because these modern "creators" don't even understand the originals. Ask a Gen Z if they've watched Superman, and I am sure they'll all say yes. Then ask them if they think Christopher Reeves did a good job, and they'll ask "Who?" because they did NOT see the original work. Another example is Dune. At the end of the rework that was done lately they screwed up the understanding of the demands of Royalty with marriage in the CHOAM reality. Chani left at the end, instead of Standing with Muad'dib and ACTUALLY negotiating the contract of marriage to Irulan, as she did in the original book, and she left as his ENEMY. Now, if they hope to do the next chapter, they have to waste time to fix a huge problem in the story. They rewrote the Chani / Muad'dib relationship because it goes against the current "Strong Woman" narrative, and what they did was BREAK the story. So yeah, I will likely NOT be watching this "Superman" movie. I'll rewatch the Christopher Reeves movies and be MUCH better off.
Look... I don't care what people say... I am super excited for what's to come with the new DC universe. There's more people out there felt moved just by watching this trailer. Even i got a little emotional just watching it. Superman IS the symbol of hope across the globe to EVERYONE! He is a symbol for everyone, which is why James Gunn shouldn't have added that he represents the country. He should leave politics out of it. Or, if you're going to be political, have the politics be of the fictional world, not real life.
Regardless of the politics, I'm already out just based on the ugly suit and filling the movie with more C and D List characters, which Gunn seems obsessed with. This movie is DOA; Gunn can't make a movie without his own ego getting in the way anymore.

@@ajc1888 I've read what James Gunn said and he didn't say that Trump is the problem, he said that whichever side you on politics, people just want to be kind.
The way James Gunn worded that statement tells you exactly what he means. He wasn't talking about the inner goodness of people, "even if" they disagree politically. He said "DESPITE" their political opinions, meaning explicitly that those opinions are undesirable. And if you take into consideration Gunn's leanings, that "despite" means "I know you're all a bunch of fascist trumptards, but veeeeery deep down there might be still some good in you, even if you're too stupid to realize that you're the bad guys". But on the other hand, Gunn has been known for saying stuff that doesn't necessarily reflect what he actually has put on screen (like when he said Groot called Rocket Racoon "father" before being snapped or when he said Polka Dot Man was faking his redemption arc). It was always a great movie, Shane you bought into the Hate for it because he didn't save cats from Trees like the Reeves films did.
Such as:
Superman has been reimagined and/or deconstructed plenty of times, especially recently, in both comics as well as on screen; often by creative minds far superior to Snyder and Goyer.

James Gunn is a POC and I want nothing to do with his DC universe Zack rules¥
Zack snyder sucks
Snyder had Superman die the 2nd movie man
@@ZanderHannaSnyder actually followed the comic. Do some research.
@alexzapf6422 yea doing the death of superman and the dark knight returns in the second movie was dumb should've saved that for later
@@alexzapf6422 lmao he just took something from the comics, he did not follow the story completely.
Look... I don't care what people say... I am super excited for what's to come with the new DC universe. There's more people out there felt moved just by watching this trailer. Even i got a little emotional just watching it.
Superman IS the symbol of hope across the globe to EVERYONE! I feel people still feeling hurt because it's no longer the Snyder-verse and they will stop at nothing to find something to complain about for this new one.
I myself can't wait for THIS movie.
This comment wins.
The Superman teaser trailer was amazing. I watched it for like 2 hours last night. I wish producers wouldn't bring politics into their films and ruin such a great thing.
So he lied and is making a crap political movie ugh no thanks and that cgi dog looks terrible
He didn’t lie. He made an analogy. Keep dreaming Snyder simp
no it doesn't. I'd actually like the old style effects taking over and they looked even less real. I don't like cgi but find it weird how people are now only into the most advanced cgi.... who cares? CGI siuucks.
2:12 secs in, not all of us have forgiven him. Some have, but we will never forget! Is this the road D.C. is taking? Why aren't shareholders screaming "NO DONT BUDLIGHT OUR COMPANY"
Yeah them acting like GG wasn’t a hit even the 2nd one is regarded 😂 all these grifters need a bit of extra cash before Christmas 😂
Oh no , not again. I was going to support the film by going to the cinema. Now I'll just wait for streaming
@johntaylor4726 so do I, untill the movie starts preaching , pushing a message, I don't need that. I haven't been in years, but I may wait till the full trailers are released before I decide
@@ajc1888would you relax? This is a teaser after all
@@ajc1888 I've read what James Gunn said and he didn't say that Trump is the problem, he said that whichever side you on politics, people just want to be kind.
This is James Gunn’s second Superman movie. The first one was called “Brightburn”. Where his being raised did not go so well…
The way James Gunn worded that statement tells you exactly what he means.
So I still hope that he manages to keep this film as much of a neutral zone as the GOTG was.
Tell us you're a raging leftist without telling us you're a raging leftist. I'm conservative, and I honestly don't understand the burning need for people on the left to result to name-calling like elementary school children. To be fair, people do it on the right as well.
But honestly, the only way for people to exist peacefully is to agree to disagree. It is sad to me that most people cannot do this.
@@KevvoLightswift Maybe I misunderstood your comment, but... what made you think that I'm a leftist (if I got it right)? Because what wrote in quotes was exactly me pointing out how leftists view (and refer to) anyone else.
Our country has been battered for the last four years, that's what he means. You may not want to believe it, but the movie was finished during Biden's presidency, not Trump's.
This movie will easily do over a billion dollars.
Time will tell, friend. We need apolitical movies.
He didn't say anything political . he said he hopes they movie unites the country and gives everyone hope whats wrong with that ???? What the heck is wrong with wdw pro that wasn't bad of him to say ..what that he hopes the movie unites us ? That's bad ??? No Thats awesome?? wdw pro is off on this one big time , I disagree with them . he didn't say anything wrong Gunn doesn't care About politics , Gunn has even gone against marvel by saying they have made half assed movies (which by that he means that they have made political garbage), but super man isn't political garbage) it's a movie that will give people hope . WDW pro should be supporting Gunn right now , not assuming stuff that isn't true . wdw pro should be supporting gunn imo wdw pro needs to pay attention more and stop assuming things Ginn is COOKING 🔥 let him cook the trailer made me and my whole family cry I'm serious

Richard Donners Version Of Superman The Movie Will Always Be The Best Superman Movie With Christopher Reeve
The trailer should have had three beats to it, 'Truth,' 'Justice,' and 'the American way.' I'm not a septic but I love that stuff. One of my fave things to rewatch on youtube is the last scene in Superman2 where he talks to the american President.
'I'm sorry I let you down, sir. I won't do i again.'
