Walt created an option for families to spend their time and money, it became a tradition; The Bob Iger Company sees that patronage as an obligation by the public, and therefore they can use the movies, TV shows and parks as tools to restructure society. Yes, it did very well over the extended Thanksgiving Weekend, but far too many reviews are calling it a snooze fest. Weak plot, no villian, Maui barely making an appearance, dialogue missing context because associated scenes were cut, etc. This was intended as a 12 episode serial release on Disney + and they took a hatchet to it to consolidate it down to a movie format.

I grew up around Disney when Epcot was being built. My dad got hired when they were needing people to build it. So. I grew up around it and around all the people in Central Shops. When Eisner took over, that's when the change happened behind the scenes. The Southern Baptist boycotted Disney a while back and it was such a blow that Disney started to pull back on the LGBTQ stuff that they were pushed on a company level. But, here we are many many years later and they not only pushed it company wide but then to the public through the media and parks. Disney has not changed. Same leadership, same goals. They are just trying to get us to build them back up again, and then they'll repeat it 5-10 years later but to an even greater extreme. The leadership from the top down has to radically change, and it's not.
Just a thought. Culture said Walt Disney made animated movies for adults and children just happened to like the movies. Actually, Walt Disney did not talk down to children. Walt talked with children at their level but his animation was made for everyone. This was no coincidence. I’ve got parents in early retirement age and I’ve stayed with them for several holiday periods including this one. Back when Strange World came out, we went to a house that was decked out for Christmas. And it just so happened one of the mother’s who was there with her kids had taken her family to see Strange World, here is what was interesting. The mom didn’t like the movie and it wasn’t directly because of the messaging, she was talking loud enough for me to hear discussing it with another mom asking her opinion, she didn’t understand the story and couldn’t explain it to her kids. My folks live outside the DC area, so a pretty sympathetic area to Disney’s ‘messaging’. I think this is the issue. I grew up as a kid of the 90’s Disney renaissance and the myriad of sequels to video. I think most families see an average to below average movie for today’s standards and say ‘I’ll skip it or wait to stream’ and if it’s okay to good, then they’ll go to the theater as long as there’s not too much of a convo needed based on what people tell them, Disney or not. Now if it’s a solid and willing evergreen kids franchise like Mario, Sonic, etc, then they’re all in. It’ll be interesting to see what Sonic 3 does. I think it has the potential to match Moana 2 dollar for dollar or beat it.

I’ve got parents in early retirement age and I’ve stayed with them for several holiday periods including this one.
Back when Strange World came out, we went to a house that was decked out for Christmas. And it just so happened one of the mother’s who was there with her kids had taken her family to see Strange World, here is what was interesting.
The mom didn’t like the movie and it wasn’t directly because of the messaging, she was talking loud enough for me to hear discussing it with another mom asking her opinion, she didn’t understand the story and couldn’t explain it to her kids. My folks live outside the DC area, so a pretty sympathetic area to Disney’s ‘messaging’. I think this is the issue.
I grew up as a kid of the 90’s Disney renaissance and the myriad of sequels to video. I think most families see an average to below average movie for today’s standards and say ‘I’ll skip it or wait to stream’ and if it’s okay to good, then they’ll go to the theater as long as there’s not too much of a convo needed based on what people tell them, Disney or not. Now if it’s a solid and willing evergreen kids franchise like Mario, Sonic, etc, then they’re all in. It’ll be interesting to see what Sonic 3 does. I think it has the potential to match Moana 2 dollar for dollar or beat it.
One factor in the surprisingly high audience figures for Moana 2 is probably the desperation of parents trying to find something suitable for their children to watch amongst all the propaganda.

Just a note about Moana 2 - I was at the doctor's yesterday and heard the nurses talking about seeing it - they said they all fell asleep, even the kids!
I saw it and it's boring. It's not as bad as some say it is, but it's not good either. You won't leave the theater happy and excited for what you just watched.
If they are really serious, they should make a real statement. Cancel Snow White and remake the remake.
They already got a back-up plan in case Snow White doesn't work out that's the Lilo & stitch remake

These reports are like that teacher in the old Charlie Brown cartoons: blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Iger has done so much damage to the brand, and thinks if he can send a few signals out that he’s not really that woke, then everything will be fine. He does not take any accountability on these disastrous decisions and has no receipts at all on how he will “fix” this. Until Iger is fired, nothing will change.

I somehow doubt it, let's see and hear the changes. The reintroduction of 'ladies and gentlemen', a hone media release of 'Song of the South' (maybe via Criterion) and Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah in the parks, plus maybe as an authorised RSD2025 vinyl, would be a good start.
Never going to happen people seem to forget that song on The South was one of the most controversial Disney movies ever made even before politics and wokness don't get me wrong they try to have the movie release they actually talked to the audience to see how they feel and the reaction was mixed why everybody agreed the movie was never racist there was still the issue about when the movie took place
