@@AIex_Kidd Nothing wrong with your handheld, just a different type of OS so file placement is a bit different for each handheld. The issue with the TrimUI Smart Pro's OS is that the images need to be in the Imgs folder at the top level or root of the SD card, not inside each individual system where Skraper defaults to. So, instead all your images need to go to something like `Imgs/systemname/` So head into each of your Rom system folders, and then into each of the Imgs folders, and cut and paste the images into the Imgs/systemname/ folder. @@jacobluce6904 Have you solved this? I'd like to be able to add the videos to my Anbernic RG40XX H as well but I don't know what to name the folder. Maybe it's not possible...
Hey Russ, liked the new change of scenery at the beginning (wood table and mood lighting haha). Any chance you could do a video on organizing roms, how you do personally do it? Do you keep them zipped or not? When is good to keep them zipped or when not? Also naming of roms, how it affects scraping etc? I know I'd find it helpful just to learn hopefully others would benefit as well. (one random example is if I apply a rom hack I usually add (rom hack) to the title, but maybe don't change anything else in the name, what happens to that rom with Skraper? Also if something is just slightly off name wise (upper case lower case, U, JP, etc. does Skraper catch it, ignore it, skip it?) Just a lot of questions around the organizing and how sensitive Skraper is and any other little tips and tricks for keeping your library neat and tidy and not totally unwieldy. Would love your thoughts! Thanks!
By default, it matches first by CRC, then by filename. CRC is a content match (a sort of “signature”), so it should be pretty accurate. However, it is unique to that specific ROM. By contrast, a filename match is less precise (because filenames are independent of the file’s contents), but might allow an otherwise unrecognized ROM to be matched to a recognized variant simply by using the filename of the known one - helpful when a particular game is released in multiple versions (e.g. regions or updated versions) and the specific variant you have happens to not be in the database. (Given the maturity of the database, I’d be surprised if this scenario happens regularly with published titles.) I’m pretty sure it performs the CRC analysis on the individual files within an archive (e.g. zip, 7z) rather than the archive itself. Not sure whether it does the same for the filename analysis; seems logical to me that it would, but that’s just a blind guess. You can select the matching method you prefer (e.g. only use CRC matching). If memory serves, I think that option is on the Miscellaneous tab.

You should change per config from CRC/Filename value in misc to just filename for all disc based systems or you will be sitting there for hours. Since SkraperUI is using the screenskraper database you will need to check their site on proper file names because for some stupid reason they do not use no intro naming.
One of the frustrations I have with this Skraper method is that the game names it comes up with often center around the Japanese names of games, even when I have US versions of roms. This happens in arcade (so Art of Fighting, which is the only name I knew for that game, suddenly became Ryūko no Ken or whatever) but also a LOT of games on Nintendo systems too. Manually going through gamelist.xml files and hand-editing names after running Skraper kind of sucks. Does anyone know how to get Skraper to use US names of games?
I was having this same issue. The problem appears to be with games where the region is (World). By default, Skraper is setup to check if the region is US, then Japan, then World last. For whatever reason, for World games it will skip US, see Japan next and decide that's the region to go with. To fix it, go into the miscellaneous tab and change the "Regions (In Order of Priority)" setting to: us,wor,ss,jp, I also changed the database matching method to "Filename Only" and unchecked "Use rom region first" as that also seemed to be causing it to label games as the Japanese version on occasion. Once you've changed those settings, rescrape your games and let it overwrite the old gamelist.xml and it should fix all of the naming issues.

You dont need to remove the media folder, mine are all in Media/Video or Media/Images and work fine with ArkOS/EmuElec or any other EmuStation device I've used. I use the same scraped files for many devices from PSX Classic to GPi Case, all work fine. I even created a batch script to use FFMPEG to reduce videos in size and length for handhelds, makes the video files smaller than the actual imagine files in some cases, they still actually look fine on bigger TV's too.
I can second this for Odroid retro arena on the XU4. I left the media folder in there, and it works perfectly. I removed the media folder for doing this for my daughter’s RG 351P, and it did not work. I am going to add the media folder back and see if that makes it work.

For some reason tho, only a few of the PS games are showing the art, but I’ve verified all of the .png files are present in the right folder. Any thoughts on this? This is the only core I’m seeing an issue for and the folder structure looks good roms/ps/.previews
Hi, i have already scrapped games with wifi. I use the last version of arkos with my rg351m. Could i use this tool to update my library or it will downloased again all my games ? Thanks for your help and excuse my english.
I’m a bit confused on the initial settings. You say to select “no backup, create new or overwrite existing”. This seems fine for the first time, but what if you already have screen shots and videos for some of your ROMs? You wouldn’t want to “overwrite existing” would you? Or is that setting strictly referring to some sort of database the app is using? Related to that does the app know what to do if it find existing images and videos? Does it skip them?
I believe that option refers to the gamelist.xml file that the tool generates. Replacing it with a freshly generated version each time is probably wise, as it reduces the likelihood of that file containing data that is outdated, duplicated, incorrect, corrupted, etc. Not sure about the existing media. I wouldn’t be surprised if it erases and replaces those files. That said, I do have the impression the tool may be caching the downloaded content (\Cache), so perhaps it is able to leverage that cache to avoid repeatedly downloading the same data.
what if i have an existing emulation stattion package with different systems that is already scrapped and then i decided to add more games into for example psx folder. how should i scrap the art work for the newly added games without having to scrap the existing ones ?
so I have an rg505. any chance you know how to get the box art for that system? I can get it on the app retroarch but not the one that you can switch to with the side button on the system.
¿Can i add manually the covers that skraper dont find? Other problem is the names that I have for the games was changed, and some games are not available in the list, and others are duplicated.¿Can I change the names of the games, add the games that are missing to the list and how can I eliminate the duplicated games?
If you just have to put the image you want with the appropriate dimensions, and manually edit the "gamelist" you can manually add the game you want at the end, I recommend copying a game that is already ready, paste it and modify the names you want for those of the game that could not put the cover. You can add photos or videos as long as you put the path correctly in the "gamelist", if they do not load it is because you have not put the extensions or the path correctly.
Do the normalized video clips take a significant amount of storage space? If they do it might pose some storage space concerns, especially for scraping a large amount of games. I want to make sure I don't consume so much space out of videos because I'd personally rather have more space for games. If so, I would rather have the box art displayed.
Man, I love this video so much - thank you for making this process straightforward and painless!

I, too, was hoping for some configuration advice for the recently reviewed Chicken the cat. But I guess not _all_ your videos can be about each viewer's favourite device. :)
Why does Skraper download as a 7z file that I can’t use or install?
I’m having the same issue?
Mine is stuck at "Downlaoding Resources" after I logged in
About 300 games or More just dont get any Box Art, anyone know why that is? There are just multiple games with no Box Art, and some that are. It's really annoying
(RG351P/351Elec) Some of my games vanished from the main emulationstation games interface after using Skraper, the game file is still there, I can access it through the drastic emulator menu, but it doesn't show on my main list, they were scraped beforehand using the 351elec own individual scraping method, it's the only thing I think was different about the file. I did the update games list option on the menu, but nothing seemed to make it appear again on the main interface
Will this work with steam in Emulation Station?
Can you review GDK Mini handheld?
I have the images for all my games but I cant find the option to skraper manually. Help me please.
Any chance you could do a video on how to combine multi-disk games such as Breath of Fire III so they're just one file than can be copied and pasted to the appropriate folder?
Scrapping directly from the rg351 with arkos or 351elec I normally get corruption on some files. Already tested different micro sd and some corruption problem. Anyone else got this problem?
I've downloaded the app but for some reason it won't load. Will it work if I skip this step?
I have tried to scrape covers for my PS1 games, but I always have the same problem. The scraping looks fine, but the files are renamed, multi CD titles lose their name (cd1, cd2, etc). And the most problematic thing is that it no longer recognizes my memory cards, practically having to start from 0 in several games.
I have done the procedures via wifi from the console and with the scrapper windows program, both give the same result. Any ideas what I can do to keep the complete names and prevent the memory cards from being lost?Hello people. I have tried to scrape covers for my PS1 games, but I always have the same problem. Hi,
Is it possible to just find load the specific games image instead of scrape all the games? If yes, please advise how to manually put the image to which folders.
Thank you
Am I able to scrape newly added games without overwriting my whole catalog?
Well its to bad i bought mine on amazon and it did not come with the internet usb thing it’s supposed to come with plus i dont have a pc
Worked great for the first device, but for some reason even if I close and restart it, I can't set the Global root folder to anything else to scrape for another device. Do I have to completely wipe the program and start over just to change that? I have to be missing something here.
Can you do an updated video on Skraper & show us how to use this with Batocera.
When scrapping, it corrupst my memory card EASYROM partition...
hi i am having issues instaling skraper app on my pc. help

After using skraper, the gamelist file is empty, it did download all the images and videos. How can I fix this?
What if I change the rom name after I scraped all my roms, does it recogniz all my previous picture and video or I have to re-scrape it again?
Couldn’t find the downloaded Skraper app
Hi there, I have the RG280V w/the Adam image and have had much success in scraping box art. For some reason tho, only a few of the PS games are showing the art, but I’ve verified all of the .png files are present in the right folder. Any thoughts on this? This is the only core I’m seeing an issue for and the folder structure looks good roms/ps/.previews
Is there a way to have it just Scraper PAL Megadrive box art rather than NTSC Genesis box art???
Yes you can prioritize region in the settings.
Any way to just scrape new games added instead of starting from scratch each time?
I love you man!
Can you make a new how-to for stock RG35xx devices with dual memory cards, but the second card is the one with all the non-stock ROMs?
How do we get this to run on Steam Deck so I can scrape images for my Anbernic RG Arc-D? Thanks
Can u Tell me please how you change the Option to open the Videos faster in the emulstion Station
thank you so much!
Hi, i have already scrapped games with wifi. I use the last version of arkos with my rg351m. Could i use this tool to update my library or it will downloased again all my games ? Thanks for your help and excuse my english.
how do you address games that were not found?
After I did all skraper how do I add only 1 console ?
Hello, i would like to know whether this also work for Anbernic RG556?
what if i have an existing emulation stattion package with different systems that is already scrapped and then i decided to add more games into for example psx folder. how should i scrap the art work for the newly added games without having to scrap the existing ones ?
so I have an rg505. any chance you know how to get the box art for that system? I can get it on the app retroarch but not the one that you can switch to with the side button on the system.
When I download the app it shows up as Skraper 1.1.1.man. What is the deal?
Are you still enjoying the Pocketgo S30? I got one based on your videos and absolutely love it!
after scraping, my rg351 on 351elec wont detect the files scraped, any solution??
Thank you!
I am getting not available for every game and then it crashes after 30 seconds
Yes!! thank's Russ!
Do the normalized video clips take a significant amount of storage space? If they do it might pose some storage space concerns, especially for scraping a large amount of games. I want to make sure I don't consume so much space out of videos because I'd personally rather have more space for games. If so, I would rather have the box art displayed.
