    Green grass. Red flowers. Yellow flowers. Waterfalls. Tunnels. More tunnels. Grade indicators (very useful). No snow. Switchmen throwing switches. Ah, Norway!

    What can I say that hasn't already been said.The scenery is gorgeous,Norway is Beautiful. Nature or the wind has though given the Tree (7:12 right hand side) a bum wrap in where its decided to grow. The pointsman is indeed a rare sight. It seems too that Trains the World over have terrible Headlights. Thank you so much for sharing.Very enjoyable.

      Ignore these people that are insulting you for your comment. You realize a difference in the mentality of the people. That's where you need to start to change things in India. Already, at a different you tube I noticed that other Indians (no, not American Indians -- (just trying to keep it light and still get a message across)) are trying to make an effort to get India into a second world country mentality. I wish you success!

    Thought you'd be interested in this.....on Monday I was 4.8 miles into my first run when I got a stop indication on a signal next to a level crossing. Railroad Police was there and when I stopped they boarded my locomotive and arrested me. Reason they said was I was following to close to the train in front of me. The only train in front of me was almost 3 hours ahead and was 7 stations ahead of me. I had high green blocks right from the start. I managed to get my hands on the signal towers logs and proved to the dispatcher there were no other trains ahead. Those records saved me along with the fact that he was somewhat drunk. So he is at fault and won't be working for us any longer and I'm back in the seat again!!! Think they call that karma!!

    • @RailCowGirl

      @@RailCowGirl We have railroad police for the commuter line between San Francisco and San Jose (CalTrain). They patrol the track right-of-way to make sure no one in trespassing. Some people like to take their lives by jumping in front of a speeding train and spatter themselves over the front of the locomotive. The police try to prevent this and have the offenders arrested.

    Wow ... beautiful trip! I am a Brazilian citizen and passionate about European landscapes. I want to leave some suggestions:
    - make an outlet during the departure of the train from the locomotive with the scene showing the vision of the driver and at least part of the composition;
    - put name and altitude of the stop stations and also the name and length of the tunnels through which to pass. I think it will look great.
    Thank you for the opportunity to know more about Europe.

    Thanks again for sharing. There’s something strangely uplifting to see the process of these trains passing each other at Berekvam and the quiet co-operation so necessary between the linesman and drivers as one enormous machine gently comes to halt to allow the other train to pass. I’m interested to know why the ‘uphill’ train stops, from an energy saving perspective, I would have thought it better for the ‘downhill’ train to stop? Why so few people and traffic about? Thanks regards from EF.

      That's the way to build them. Mountains and rocks are most fragile at the surface, but gets more and more robust towards the center, unless you're amethyst :p So the nice portals functions as reenforcement of the entrance to the tunnel.

    Seeing your advertisement for your merch raises a question: If train drivers drink a lot of coffee while working, what do you do when you have to respond to a normal bodily function? I'm sure toilets are provided on the loco, but you can't use it and operate the train at the same time, can you? (Sorry for the strange question.)

    • @RailCowGirl

      There are no toilets on the loco 😱
      We make sure we go to the bathroom before the trip starts and we contain ourselves to we get to the destination ;)
      If not men are more lucky than us, they can run off into the forest while waiting for the green light ;)

    Interesting. @ 17:00 plus mark, railroad employees manually throwing the switches. The train in the side track appeared deserted vis-a-vis passengers. Nice video. Nice backwoods country. As for your moniker, I don't think I've run across a Hindu cowgirl in Texas, but I'll keep looking.

    What exquisite scenery! No wonder the folks in the oncoming train were hanging out the windows! :) Do you ever see animals on the tracks or in the tunnels?

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Seldom in the tunnels, seen foxes and owls, but never larger pray. :D But we do see them on the tracks now and then. Typically at dusk and dawn. :)

      They are the triangular signs you see. With number on them.
      4 = 40km/h
      13 = 130km/h

    the crossing at berevkam... at approximately the 19.30 mark. is there a similar video in the winter season? with heavy snow on the line... that would be fun to watch.
    snow flying all over, how the track appears to be after a train has crossed it etc...
    thank you in advance for your response.

      Thank you! In the winter there is only one train at the Flåm railway, so no crossing.

      @@RailCowGirl i may have found a way to enjoy an "outside" view of the train ploughing through snow. the webcam at finse station is facing the exit from finse tunnel. in the next winter months, all i have to do is look at the trains coming out of the tunnel. that would be "live action"! only 4 more months to go... :-D

    That's a lot of horn; can I ask why is it necessary at some protected crossings?
    What's the difference between the two horn signs? Thanks in advance.

      HinduCowGirl how does the guy who operates at this switch get there? Does he take the first train that goes there and then the last one to get home? Or does he walk? o.o

      The dual train operation is just during the high in the summer. In the winter there is just one train, and no need for crossing at Berekvam

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They get there by car, or they take the first train up, and goes home with the last one down :)
