Mezmerizing, so beautiful , smooth, quiet, with background lull of the engine.......... fell fast asleep on the way down to Flam...... good thing I wasn't doin' the Driving !
The Flam line to Myrdal and back is one of the most spectacular railway travels one can do. The screnery is breathtaking and unreal when the train crawls through cliffs and altitudes nearly unimaginable. This is nothing for the faint hearted! It is just a miracle. There is nothing on Earth similar to Norway. Thanks for the wonderful video.

What better way to chill the mind and soul with a couple of beers, soaking up the amazing landscapes in your videos.
As I've put before - never the same scenery although it's the same trip. This time - three seasons in one! Also - thanks for the side views of the waterfall and valley.

G'day there Cow girl. You know a little bit of a running commentary would be good telling us all about your beautiful landscape and the surrounds and special feature's. You don't have to be shy, there's only 4 million people watching you. LOL. Thing's like, Why don't you see smoke coming out of chimneys and how do you really suffer the cold and why you like driving trains? But another nice show once again. Thank you.
HinduCowGirl -- the BEST train driver in all of Europe! And the most magical. A wave of the hand and doors open. You seem to find ways to make your super videos even more spectacular than before. I really enjoyed the side shots on the trip to and from Flam. They really add a new perspective to a already great video. The Flam trips are my favorites. Thanks for always thinking of your Herd and ways to make their experience more exciting! BTW . . . Are you going to take us on a trip on the gondola tram at Voss when it's finished?
Love these videos of different seasons and scenery. The Flam line is especially beautiful. I also noticed you missed a Horn signal sign in the tunnel at 1:11:16. Had to tell you. LOL
Dear HCG, Thanks again for a truly relaxing, calming trip through your beautiful Norway. It helps this American guy to relax during a very serious political debacle here called trumpGOP, and their attempt to negate our Constitution and American Values. God bless and thank you.
Now that time has passed, and I'm watching this one again with more familiarity of the route, it's surprising to see the "crowd" at the Ljosanbotn halt. I guess they were staying in those cabins? and on their way to ski up top somewhere.
Absolutely LOVE your series and always look forward to the new ones. I have one question, why do you have one locomotive on each end of the train? I would have thought one locomotive was powerful enough for such a short train.
There are some rules on the Flåm line due to the gradient of the line. You can run 1 loco with 3 cars, but beyond that you'll need 2 locos. Redundancy :)
Speed is easy 40kmh up and 30kmh down except for tue places with 20kmh. Elevation is indicated at each station. Between them it’s a steady climb or decent, depending on what direction you go :) it’s only by the station and halts you can find «flat» areas :)
The sound of Swiss quality at first. The best passenger rolling stock imo. Why is the dialect completely wrong? Should be West Norwegian announcements! :) Saying Urdland wrong too? Hehe Fantastic btw!
The wheels are formed as “cones” to make them try and center itself in the track. The dampers you see is to reduced the sinus movement that can create. :)
The stream server went down. latest security upgrades rendered it virtually useless for streaming. Nothing more to expect from hardware that is from 2010.
Mykle Raymond Bergensbanen, there are 2 conductors always, plus 1/2/3 in the café depending on day/holiday/special happening. On the local service it’s usually one conductor. Sometimes two if they have two trains connected together. On the Flåm line there is one conductor in the winter, and two during the summer. In the summer there is also a «guide» or kind of an assistant to help the conductors with all the questions, groups and so on.
@@mykleraymond3700 That's because she picks up the train and goes over everything to check that it's okay to put out in traffic. By the way, I have to correct myself a bit on the previous comment; there are sometimes 3 conductors on the Bergen line. Some special occasions like holidays or some events, all of the trains are completely sold out and they are also expecting people boarding the trains without tickets. Or sometimes they even put in an extra carriage or two. Then they put in an extra conductor :-)
Do you have to rely on sanders much going up the hill or does the push/pull of the 2 loco's overcome that? And how does the FLIRTS handle on the line vs the HL18 with the massive power difference. I see the FLIRTS in a 4 car set have a max power rating of 2000kw yet the HL18 is 5600kw so if your rolling with 2 on the flam line you have 11,200kw vs 2000kw thats a huge power difference on such a steep climb.
@@RailCowGirl Ok I went to that spot you mention and watch the addition nice view look like there is a line across the way on that other mountain or perhaps a highway
@@samaikens4816 No. It's an old road, or rather horse-and-cart way, used by the navvys who buildt the line. There's another one along the main line across the mountain towards Ustaoset as well. It's called "Rallarvegen" (Rallar is the Norwegian (and Swedish) word for navvy). It's very popular with mountain bikers in the summer.
There's a message feature here on TH-cam. Much like chat, but not tied to a video. I think we should all consider starting a chat group using that feature.

Does a flag drop at stations for a demand pickup, do you just watch for someone raising hand like they are hailing a cab? I spent a day visiting several of the goat farms closer to flåm watching Brunost being made and sampling their output!
If someone wants to go with the train from a stop that is on demand only, they have to be visible and give a sign they want to come with us. If they want to go off, they tell the conductor, and the conductor tells the driver. Many trains stop on all stations wether there are passengers or not. It depends on the train schedule set.
Because there are seldom passengers getting on that train at this time of year between Flåm and Myrdal. :) Those who gets on are passengers going from Flåm to Myrdal and the other way around. Hence very few getting off between.
